BEIJING (AFP)

I read topic on China, but at the same time, I evaluate the origin of sources. If coming from Beijing(AFP), I do not count on it as much. It is what Beijing wants us to believe. If coming from Hong Kong, then it is a different story.I count on it.

Anyone who has incited, planned or organised illegal gatherings, protest marches or demonstrations or those who have engaged in smashing and looting… will be punished severely,” the police said in a statement

In China, there are no planned protests. If planned, they are all changed to non planned gatherings.

Anyone using the Internet, mobile text messages and other methods to incite, plan or organise illegal gatherings, protest marches or demonstrations must immediately stop their illegal activities

No freedom of speech, that's the reason my Chinese friend goes to Hong Kong weblink to see what's really going on in China, but not too long I am afraid People of Hong Kong will lose it. Beijing is coming to Hong Kong.

"China's Communist rulers"

They must be really popular, they've been China's rulers since like 1949.

There is a bigger question on China's industrialization and its environmental effects. Who is really behind the push for the rapid industrial growth? In the chase of bigger and bigger profits and the need for lower and lower wages, American industries started global trotting in search of the global 'free enterprise' zones where they could set up shop where labor laws were few and environmental laws non-existent. China is one such country were the labor standards were low and labor was cheap, the new global reality, and so American manufactures flocked to China so they could do what they could no longer do in the US; pollute and be union free. Now China has what the Great Lakes had till the 1960's where they polluted the Great lakes to death; which it is still recovering from. in the 1980's we said that the polluters should pay, no matter where on Earth they should run to. let us hope that this is not a new Bhopal.

Ah China INC, just a ticking time bomb for the masses of millions and millions of abused Chinese workers!! VIVA LA HUELGA!!

Abused workers? they havent even got a job with the metal plant yet? What environment problem is there? Too much water and flooding?? Sounds lie they need some infrastructure to save the loss of lives when the rains hit. And that area of Japan still has a lot of untouched areas, the environment is still winning over the people. Surely there is a need for the ability to wor with the environment, what exactly is so polluting about a metal plant??Like it's grey in colour and that's it???The only stipulation and rioting I would be making is that should a plant go ahead wages would be double the average.

oops obviously I meant China

Obviously the local communist party members benefit from the plant. Any public protest is illegal because allowing it will create too much public awareness of its associated risks & gather momentum against its construction. Bottomline is it affects the profit of these God damned communists. I like to see the decendants of these God damned communists suffer rather than the ordinary citizen.

dunno about God damning the communists-theyve been quite economically fruitful, mind their family sizes are a bit small, but even the secular crowd are for that these-a days. I thought constructive rioting is worth listening to, but this? Seems a bit over the top. Okay I'll give ya the Chinese police dont seem like a happy bunch, but doesnt it seem like these 2 groups are at odds with each other and using the metal plant as an excuse to stir up their problems? Obviously any business anywhere benefits the locals council and citizens alike. Business is business and unless it is some sort of dictatorship, business is fun.
