Maybe the ambassador would be happier if Canada treated Ms. Meng the way China treats its detainees whatever their origin and citizenship: held in solitary confinement, no access to lawyers, years before being brought to trial (if ever) and so on...

Mr. Lu is the spokesman for his government in Canada and if his views do not parrot his superiors he'll soon find himself being "re-educated" along with the Uyghurs.

The Chinese dictators seem to have difficulty understanding the concept of a judicial system that does not merely serve the interests of the corrupt, unelected few.

Meng is under house arrest in Canada and free to receive visitors. The grounds for her detention are detailed in her arrest warrant and eventually she will be given a fair hearing with the final decision based on facts and evidence.

Meanwhile, the Canadian hostages in China are being held on trumped-up charges with no access to lawyers. The Chinese dictators have produced no evidence to substantiate their claims of espionage, nor will they. The Chinese kangaroo court will do as the unelected dictators tell it, regardless of the merits of the case.

It's a pity that a diplomat like Mr Lu is unable to understand this. Perhaps he should be replaced by someone with a modicum of intelligence.

What an idiot.

Idiot, indeed. Where's the "White supremacy" that he's talking about? As long as I can remember, there are many cultures in Canada. If anything, we should accuse China of violations of human rights; especially children.

Its entirely possible that they are simply misinterpreting Bob and Doug MacKenzie's "Great White North" as something nefarious.

@Bob and Doug MacKenzie's "Great White North" as something nefarious.

"It's understandable that these Canadians are concerned about their own citizens. But have they shown any concern or sympathy for Meng after she was illegally detained and deprived of freedom?" Lu wrote in the Ottawa newspaper.

Meng is currently living in a luxury home in Vancouver after being released on bail pending the outcome of an extradition hearing. She is required to wear an electronic anklet to monitor her movements and has an 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.

Meanwhile, a group of Canadian parliamentarians visiting China this week complained to officials that Kovrig and Spavor have been granted few consular visits, denied access to lawyers, and remain in "completely unacceptable" detention conditions.

Wait, who are we supposed to sympathize with again? The one detained in a luxury home?

For China where there is NO human rights... really..?

And there is no room for "yellow" supremacy either...?

They have started to play the "race" card and that is extremely, extremely dangerous...

They are already playing the "religion" card there, where their religion is Communism...

That is exactly what happened in Europe prior to WWII...

Those two are issues that "unite" the "same" people... to act "irrationally"...

Wake up world...!

Pretty pathetic excuse of a diplomat Lu Shaye is.

Canada can be accused of many things, naivety, stupidity but 'White Supremacy' come on!!!

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Many malcontents, whingers and complainers seem to be using claims of "Racism" and "White Supremacy" to try to justify their claims hoping perhaps that the PC fanatics will give sympathy to and add weight to their cause.

Beth the Canadians arrested in China are having a much harder time than Meng who is out and wearing a bracelet.

So now China is stealing the Democrats’ tactic of calling everyone who disagrees with them a racist

A simple case of Chinese racism.

Chinese executive could not possibly be guilty so should be released from home detention in plush mansion with servants. While the two innocent Canadians detained to pressure Canada are imprisoned under brutal conditions with no servants or even contact with lawyers.

I really tend to ignore stupid statements from idiots of any nationality. They seem to be multiplying at an alarming rate all around the world these days.

Great comments, but I am going to take a slight different TAKE on this!

folks we need to remember Chinese people are NOT FREE, even ambassadors around the world, we need to remember this goofball MUST toe his commie govts line OR ELSE!!

I am sure this guy has family etc in China...….he is NOT FREE to speak his own mind, it could have DEVASATING consequences for his family back in China

THAT is the sad & PATHETIC reality of "modern" China

That all said this guy may well believe the BS he spouts...either way makes China look like the barbaric country it is

We need to dis-engage with China sooner rather than later

'White Supremacy'? That is completely absurd considering many of the leaders in Canada are also of Chinese descent. It kind of seems like China is trying to make Canada feel bad into releasing Meng Wanzhou.

Canada has a very mixed culture already. You can pretty much see a lot of different races mingle there comparing to many other countries. What is it this time, China? Pulling the OJ Simpson race card?

Freaking hilarious. The CCP bs mentality in a nutshell. "Respect and obey our self perceived 'rights' and 'ideals' while we exploit, abuse, and oppress others actual rights and ideals..."

Keep it classy CCP, you've got nobody with a sane head in this world that trusts anything you say or do.

Please, don't pull the race card. The Canadian justice system is better and fairer than the Chinese justice system also transparency. She will have chances to defend the allegation against her in court. She can be freed and flown home if the allegation against her was unfounded and proved to be innocent. Using race card is not used in this Huawei case. Also Chinese Government using tip for tap method was very ugly and Chinese Government should release innocent two Canadians citizens.
