FIGHT for what you know is right, HKers! Outside are the prisoners (to Communist bullcrap and lies), inside are the free. Set them free.

Three years jail for protesting against a totalitarian system, and then attempting to flee to freedom. Well, the message for HK is very clear. There is only one system and it demands total submission. If I lived in Hong Kong I would flee before it's too late.

Despicable. Boycott Communist China and their disgusting puppet province Hong Kong!

Who can blame these poor people from trying to escape Communism, torture and tyranny for a life of democracy and freedom?

There will be countless brave boat people risking their lives to escape the Communist horror in 2021. It is up to the UK, Japan, USA, Australia, Canada, NZ and all other democracies to take in these millions.

Many of them asked for help from the American embassy but were refused.

If that report is true, shame on the USA for turning the other way and letting the Commie scum trample over human rights. These people will have long memories.

Can’t live there can’t leave there. What a horrible place to be in. Even saying the truth gets you jail. It must be a very hard life under CCP rule.

The security law that now blankets Hong Kong gives authorities sweeping powers of prosecution for acts deemed terrorism, secession, subversion or collusion with foreign entities.

In what country in the world are terrorism, secession, subversion or collusion with hostile foreign entities legal?

terrorism, secession, subversion or collusion with hostile foreign entities legal

in what country are you accused of 'terrorism, secession, subversion or collusion with hostile foreign entities' just for protesting to defend freedom of expression?

We should all write to Biden and Trump and implore them to revognuse Taiwan as the newest country in the world, to protect it from CCP China.

Would be terrific and hopeful message for celebrating new year's day 2021 too.

China is a disgusting authoritarian dictatorship, the exact kind of country that the world fought to eliminate 75 years ago. Unfortunately not every country learned from that experience.

CCP China is the scourge of the world 2020. Lets hope that won't be the case 2021.

You just know CCP China is the focus of evil when even the Russian are seething at them.

FIGHT for what you know is right, HKers!

Bit too late for that, since HK is now firmly in the hands of the CCP. And with Beijing Biden being rigged in the US, do not expect any great pushback from outside. My heart goes out to the people of Taiwan,,,, they see what is coming and must be worried like hell.

In China, that's not new. Many citizen journalists to be arrested by the authorities after reporting to face trial from Wuhan. Number of citizen journalists who have had difficulty reporting about Wuhan. In order to cover their murk, China and Pakistan killed their minorities, and even reporters.

In China, there is no free media and authorities are considered to crack down on dissidents or whistleblowers who are seen as undermining the response of the government to the outbreak.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

What a fake, what a shame. In fact, everyone is already giving up on HK, Taiwan, only still crouching on knees in the dust before those Chinese communists to get a little more business opportunities and even supporting their zoonosis theory as the corona pandemic source. You have not even the slightest respect for yourself, all you CCP slaves and admirers. Unbelievable.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

China doesn’t allow its people what we call freedom of expression, & those who dared speak against CCP either went missing or were jailed just like the citizen journalist. In China, that's not new. Godspeed...

Absolutely disgusting, what is wrong about speaking for truth?

The Chinese are the dictators.

I will give full support for our Hong Kong friends!

I will definitely take in the HK refugees in my house.

They can live in USA and Japan and all the safe countries ruled by justice to speak for what they believe.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Anybody want to talk about how great china is for world economies, etc

Mark your calendar’s, how long it is, before they move against Taiwan, now that Joey is in office.

over a bid to flee the city by speedboat to Taiwan

Funded by?

google Buzzfeed, open technology fund(OTF), Radio Free Asia, USAID, National Endowment for Democracy etc.

Japanamericaawesome, quote: They can live in USA and Japan and all the safe countries ruled by justice to speak for what they believe.

Sadly not. Chinese students at universities in the west are afraid to debate honestly or speak out now for fear of what will happen to their families, or to themselves when they get back.

So China is showing that we cannot and will not ever believe anything they say, report, tell, admit, or even show us. Great way to try to be a part of the international community. Just like North Korea and Russia.

China is a fascist state and must be treated as such, don't travel there, do not do business with China, do not buy Chinese made products! Complete boycott!!! Like it doesn't exist!!!

Exactly!

The questions is: What can we do to help Hong Kong people?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It's not possible to sail out of Hong Kong without crossing into Chinese territorial waters. Marine traffic in the area is closely monitored to prevent mainland smugglers. What exactly did they expect other than being detained by the Chinese coastguard and charged with illegally crossing the border? Whoever attempts something like this is going to be charged, political dissident or not.

That is just so sad. Poor HKers... I think this is another reason we call this situation "HK is dictated by China".

Vancouver is now (and HAS BEEN, for some time now) full of the HK'ers that ran off decades ago.

I attempted to ask directions from someone that was obviously chinese, and she JUMPED in HER CAR

and LOCKED the DOOR, LMAO..

This is what you allowed into Canada...expect more.

Japan and the US don’t mind evil as long as there’s money. The world just sits and watches.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Sad to bare witness to the oppression in this Modern age, why do these people in this day n age still want to oppress and condemn freedom, expression and the right to democracy ?

Back Taiwan to the hilt it is the last bastian , once that falls next will be every other asian nation the CCP will not stop until it is stopped !!!

"Communist China will stop at nothing to prevent its people from seeking freedom elsewhere," a US embassy spokesperson told AFP.

Isn't it a bit too late for those guys to seek for freedom elsewhere after organising riots all over HK?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No changes to the Hong Kong system of government or freedoms were to be enacted before 50 years after the signing of the Hong Kong handover.

Lying liars lie all the time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The CCP claims all of these waters and Taiwan are an integral part of China... so how, exactly can these people be arrested for crossing any border? No exactly shocking hypocrisy from one of the worst dictatorships on earth.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Just do not buy anything Chinese. Then lets just sit and watch them. And smile.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

shocking hypocrisy from one of the worst dictatorships on earth

+1, and shameless as well. That is why even a decouple is not enough, we all have to sever ties with China.

The only way is as Michael Machisa says, do not buy Chinese products or services.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The CCP is a quite literally a Terrorist Organisation, and should be banned.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Its good other Countries will Welcome Hong Kong "Nationals" into their borders, though they also need to be wary of Chinese CCP Sleeper Cells...seeding their rot into those same said Countries - so I feel for those in HK trying to leave.

illegal border crossing.

How can it be called illegal or a border crossing, as China has always said Taiwan is part of China.

Families of the accused were only notified of the trial date three days before the hearing and were unable to attend due to the short notice and Covid-19 restrictions.

That may be more notice time than pre-covid trials.

Their lawyers were barred from meeting the detainees, with authorities instead appointing state-approved legal representation.

They will approve what ever the state says they should. China justice in action again.

The lawyers on Wednesday said the sentences were too heavy and the allegation of organizing a border crossing was not substantiated.

The communist party does say Taiwan is part of China, so they were only organizing a trip to another part of China.

With that clod in power who kowtows to dictators like Xi, what would you expect? Trump the Chump still is pushng his 'whitebread USA' policy for the next 3 weeks.

Yes, shame! Shame for looking the other way and shame for all the abuses the Chump administration has done in America too. The past 4 years in America have been a total disgrace.
