Outrageous behaviour by the Commies against a peace-loving nation. This will be strongly condemned by the US and Japan and all regional democracies. If Communist China keeps this up, Taiwan has every right to shoot their planes from the sky.

Taiwan needs its own domestic missile program to manufacture the missiles it needs for a robust defense. Surface to air and long range surface to surface missiles on mobile launchers that can if necessary target Chinese land based missile sites that target Taiwan. A realistic ability to hit back is the best defense they can employ. If China believes it can try a military reunification without suffering any significant loss to its own infrastructure and only the loss of military equipment and personnel, they will be more incline to try that avenue. However if they know there will be a backlash that destroys military bases and perhaps city infrastructure they would think twice.

Taiwan has American made Aegis cruisers that can swat those planes out of the sky.

It is probably the reason China is only willing to play this half baked tough man game instead of a full on invasion. It would be embarrassing to lose badly.

China must be drinking the cool-aide.

Taiwan should warn then down them. What are the CCP going to do? Start something real and wreck the gravy-boat of their corruption?

6 ( +12 / -6 )

Taiwan should advocate and support a stronger Japan in the region. You can only do so much by yourself and as a small nation.

A stronger Japan can be a counter balance for China aggression.

The BAD: China is watching Taiwan's response time and capability as part of their eventual intended takeover of Taiwan.

The GOOD: The more China behaves like this the more Taiwan's support from the US and allied nations, the world's democratic nations (many of whom already have ongoing disputes and conflicts with China), increases which will eventually lead to a defense pact that China would not want to engage.

We stand with you Taiwan against Chinese aggression!!!

More dangerous warmongering from the CCP. The only positive thing is that (belatedly) there is more international support for Taiwan. Taiwan is what China should be.

Err, what? I don´t think Taiwan has any Aegis cruisers. Do you have a source for that?

Xi getting frisky once again!!

Nothing that a good spanking cannot cure.

Taiwan has no cruiser class ships.

They have destroyers, frigates, corvettes and missile (anti ship) patrol ships.

Wrong statement. Taiwan has no cruisers, the biggest ships of the Taiwanese Navy are 4 destroyers, 80s vintage, initially designed for then Iran Shah's Navy. And no Taiwanese ship is eqipped with Aegis. Only plans:

If the next world war begins, recessions will subside.

Just tell the to ...buzz off.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Brinkmanship from Winnie the Pooh, not much else. He would already be aware that US is obliged to defend Taiwan under the provisions of Taiwan Relations Act if he tries any military misadventure.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

All this is just a show. There will be no war between them.

If the Commies keep these threats up , there WILL be war, make no mistake. And Taiwan and her allies will hand the Chinese the absolute hiding of their lives they have not seen since Japan crushed them. Taiwan military tech is so more advanced than Chinas its hilarious.

Wasn’t it just the other day that China was complaining about other country’s bullying tactics !?

There might be more truth to this.

I fear there might be something akin to the Tonkin incident before the election. The orange man in office looks more desperate and unpredictable every day and he might do something to appear competent to try to sway votes.

Or-

Xinnie the Flu might do something stupid that excalates out of control and the Allies have no choice but to get involved.

The answer is ground to air Taiwanese missiles!!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Once the Chinese successful hack the computers running Taiwan’s air defenses that country is toast.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@Ike....

The Taiwanese are clever enough not to rely only on computerized or digital defense systems. That all works analog too. The problem is only being outnumbered by the much bigger Chinese forces and materials. And of course , not to forget, the Chinese have that nuclear option as a last possibility, Taiwan has not.

Do some research before responding please. Taiwan already builds many of its own missiles including supersonic sea skimming cruise missiles.

No they don't. Taiwan has the four former Kidd class DDGs that were originally being built for Iran but after the 1979 revolution there were completed for the US Navy and served many years there. The are not equipped with the Aegis system and associated radars. The US Navy decommissioned them mainly because they have old fashioned arm launchers for missiles rather than VLS. Arm launchers cannot fire as many missiles per second as VLS can and thus are easy to saturate. Still the Kidds have outstanding ASW capabilities and are both quiet and fast as heck. Same hull and machinery as the old Spruance class DDs and Ticonderoga class CGs.

Appears that Taiwan has at least 3 ground-to-air missile systems for different ranges. Would be a shame if a live fire exercise happened daily whenever a foreign, unapproved, fighter was inside the territorial waters.

Of course, this assumes there aren't any commercial airliners within "lock" range. Nobody in Taiwan wants an accident like that.

I do not believe that a shooting war is on the horizon any time soon, but who knows what can happen if the CCP leadership gets truly desperate.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Well all these years the US jets have been buzzing over the Middle East and other parts of the world...In this regard the fuss the pro-US media makes against China is nothing but bias...What China does in their backyard is understandable but I cannot say the same thing for the US jets buzzing around the world.

Thanks for the comments correcting my post. I thought the deal went through. Too bad.
