I'd love to visit China and maybe some of the surrounding nations except that I know I'd have permanent respiratory problems just going there. I sincerely hope this man's case is successful because the last Chinese person I spoke to said, "its just fog" and when they sent me pictures of the place where they lived (quite far from Beijing) the sky was just filthy as well as the water. Both air and water pollution are detrimental to human habitation. One needs air to breath, and water to drink (so do the little tasty fish that we like to eat). Hopefully this will encourage a more reasonable approach to developing the country into a more environmentally conscious society. As it was said, "we have the technology...."

Now, I know a person can sue his Government in China if he/she hires an attorney.

Great response, and I thank you.

You can see, smell of smog while the radiation is invisible, no odor. It is bad as well as smog. And yet, the Japanese government has been successfully hiding the danger of radiation leak to your health.

globalwatcherFeb. 26, 2014 - 03:23AM JST Before pointing your finger to China, everyone needs to take a look at your own yard.

Problem is that smog in China is killing millions prematurely. You can even see serious China pollution from space. Beijing and all the major cities in China is choking as smog levels hit "heavy or even worse" levels across the country almost everyday. The air pollution index records levels of over 400 frequently, referring to the number of PM2.5 harmful particulates measuring. And what is goverment doing about it?

Before pointing your finger to China, everyone needs to take a look at your own yard. Japanese nuke spill is bad as well as smog to your health. Here are the most recent academic findings of Fukushima. The truth has not been told by your government. They have been doing a pretty good job to hide the truth. All living in Japan are exposed to radiation. That's the truth. Shame, shame, shame.

JimizoFeb. 25, 2014 - 11:54PM JST @Ossan Thanks for the input but without wishing to sound rude, your posts on the subject of China are not ones I >respect for their rationality nor balance. They remind me of the rants against the US and Japan I encountered from the >more hateful commies I met in China.

You are entitled to your personal opinions as I am. The day I see "rationality and balance" coming out of the Chinese dictatorship propaganda machine and their internet nationalist minions, and China stats behaving like it wants to be a cooperative and friendly member of the International Community, I may change my mind. Lu Guixin is a patriot who is standing up for what is right for the Chinese people, despite the odds heavily stacked against him. Those on the forum are supporters of the CCP dictatorship.

He'll be made to disappear by the end of the week.

The fact that this is being reported is a good thing. China is slowly losing the battle to control information and the media.

It's obviously the fault of the Japanese government. If they would apologise for the past atrocities, all the smog would go away

Beer4meFeb. 25, 2014 - 05:49PM JST

@timeon I agree only if they would apologize there would be less smog......but then again if Japan did then the Chinese goverment might crumble.

I do not understand why the Japanese government has to be blamed for Chinese smog problem. Please explain something we, the world audience, do not know. Thanks.

The Japanese government needs to clean up its own yard before criticizing others. You guys are not told the truth about the Fukushima nuke radiation disaster. Here is the most updated findings you should read. ALL Japanese citizens were/are exposed to radiation.

JimizoFeb. 25, 2014 - 06:42PM JST I share many of the criticisms of the Chinese government but I find it a bit alarming that people find it so difficult to >praise a Chinese person.

I don't think you are reading the posts carefully. All the posts are supportive of the man and are critical of the Chinese dictatorship government.

Would not want to be the nail that sticks up ANYWHERE in China. I'm sure China won't use a regular hammer but a 10kg sledge hammer instead. Great idea, wrong country to stage that lawsuit.

What if everyone sued the government over smog?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No chance dude! It's a futile attempt. Only in Communist China. Sad!

I'm not criticizing him, I am just wary of what is most likely going to happen to him.

Good for the country and the whole world!.....I pray for his safety and welfare while he stays in China.

No-one is criticising the man... it's just that speaking out in China is liable to result in... unpleasantness.

but I find it a bit alarming that people find it so difficult to praise a Chinese person.

Well, this is a Japanphile website after all.

Good luck to him at re-education camp.

Expect two or three more detainees in their political prison. Also, the Chinese will be blaming Japan for moving so many factories to China. They would not easily allow the Japanese to close down and move back to japan so the fault is obviously Japanese atrocities for going there in the first place. All these might sound funny but really, I expect that's how the Chinese will react to the smog.

Total respect for the man

6 ( +7 / -1 )

They will simply call him a hanjian /have him arrested for "disrupting social order" or so forth.

good for him but if anyone believes a District court will find in his favour they must be nuts.

His lawyer, Wu Yufen, did not answer calls to his mobile phone.

Didn't or couldn't?
