I believe more and more residents of HK are wishing they could still be a British colony.

China's communists can't be trusted even the SLIGHTEST bit. They will always -- ALWAYS -- do whatever they want and think they can get away with.

So Trump's policy of standing up to China's unfair trade practices is correct, right?

This HK demo has nothing to do with trade, which makes this post 100% out of topic, but not deleted by the moderator. And that is not the only one post. What a joke!

@serrano--President Xi officially earns twenty two thousand dollars per year, or less than 30 percent of the mayor of Dallas. Your demand that he assess the Chinese court system is way beyond his pay grade.

Of course the Beijing attendance estimate is much lower than reality.

When 20% of the population shows up to protest something, a govt should listen.

Searches for the demonstration on China's Twitter-like Weibo platform yielded no results, and instead showed older content about unrelated events.

You can't handle the truth! "You" are mainland Chinese and Chinese Govt people.

How long before the current HKG leader is thrown out ... of something ... office, a boat, something?

@rip--your wish is granted. Shazam, US troops are at South Koreas border. Wish number two is a world map?

Beijing's opaque justice system

What does Xi Jinping have to say about this?

Why doesn't the US threaten to invade China, or replace its President like it has with Venezuela? Why doesn't the US send troops to the S Korean-Chinese border like it has on the Colombian-Venezuelan border?

Hong Kongers stand up, be like Bruce Lee and fight oppression

For it is easy to criticize and break down the spirit of others, but to know yourself takes a lifetime.

MI6?  James Bond?  CIA?  Maybe even the much feared Japanese Intelligence agency.

I do not want to live in China. You cannot tell somebody knocks your door and you get busted by "authority." Do not let China and communism prevail on earth. People of the world did not realize about the danger of China until Trump warned about it.

Any Chinese person with means will create "foreign connections." Hang in there, Hong Kong, for the long term.

Of course the protest wasn’t shown on Chinese news, truth hurts for them obviously!

If I was living in HK and had the opportunity, I’d be looking to get out in a few years.

The HK people are good folk, it's a shame they're under such dumb leadership.

"collusion with the West"

That is rich when you consider that Hong Kong's leader who is pushing the extradition agreement, Chief Executive Carrie Lam, is a graduate, along with her retired mathematics professor husband, of Cambridge. She reportedly lives alone at the Peak because her UK passport holding husband and sons don't live in HK anymore. Once she retires she will be moving to England too. And the protesters are the ones with the overseas connections?
