The pilot was referring to the standard distance between aircraft required by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the International Civil Aviation Organization to prevent air disasters.

Not sure why requirements by the US apply here, but there are times when airplanes, etc. should simply be shot down. It was a foolish and dangerous act at best, and an act of aggression at worse.

Both airplanes in the air, disputed space. 10Ft separating both, A comes too close to B, OR, B comes too close to A??? Well, guess it depends on the picture, on who reports it first?? Don't allow 3rd, non involved, party with their agendas into the picture (stirring??). Everything will be fine. Eg 50Ft apart???

Perhaps the Philippines should carry some flares to ensure Chinese craft (air or sea) know they shouldn't be flying so close. It could just be a misunderstanding, but a flare would certainly make things clear. No need for a machete like China used.

Its no misunderstanding. China has an long established history of deliberate aggressive and dangerous behavior in confronting aircraft from other nations. Either the PLA pilots are trained to do this, or they are drunk on nationalism and acting on their own.

Clearly the Philippines aircraft was being handled in an irresponsible manner.

There is no such thing as the West Philippine Sea, which means their whole claim to anything is completely fraudulent.

Look at the photo, dude. The China helicopter is behind the plane. The skies are clear. It is the Chinese fault ... AGAIN. Why is it that China seems to have all these close encounters outside their EEZ but nobody else does? Look in the mirror. That's the problem.

The video of China aggressions proves they are real. One only has to look at a map to realize China belongs nowhere near the area.

The names have nothing to do with it. What does is that there is nothing but rocks between the Philippines and Hainan. Anyone can visit China troops on vacation in the area and say hello.

Despite being bullied by China the Philippines still cling to the 'One-China Policy' and steadfastly refuses to re-establish diplomatic ties with peaceful and fellow-democracy ROC-Taiwan.

Beijing must be laughing at the President of the Philippines and their Foreign Minister!

When will Manila wake-up ?
