Sabrage, the cost is astronomical, and not only in germany. Hundreds of thousands of muslim radicals are being monitored throughout the EU. Security forces are stretched beyond the limit. The cost of Merkels wisdomless, egotistism .

You can imagine Germany's bill for monitoring terrorism, after accepting 1m of the ME's finest.

Strike my lucky! Aussies made it onto Japan Today! Of course, we'll never know the full story but we/they do take our policing seriously down under. Especially the AFP.

HonestDictator, EXACTLY.

Excellent policing yet again from the federal cops. They had been tracking the emails/calls of these horrible Lebanese and Egyptian wannabe terrorists for several months. Plenty of other nations could learn from Australia's security which has thwarted so many islamist plots over the years

@burakumindes, if there is one thing we learnt during the Sydney siege inquest it's that Oz coppers and legal system were far from perfect and that massive blunders had been made before and during the Lindt café siege.

Do I feel safer in oz that I would in Europe? yes, definitely, but it's more due to oz geographical location (i.e far from everything especially the African continent and M.E region) than it is to coppers 'superior skills'. I feel even safer in japan than I do in oz yet I don't think J cops are particularly outstanding, do you?

Europe is paying the price for thoughtless immigration policies (over decades), that and their 'prime' location. Basically, the further you are from the African continent, the safer. Don't think any country on this planet can say 9/11, Paris attacks, Nice, berlin etc would not have happened on their soil/under their watch. Plus the USA, Uk, Ger, Fr etc will always be more targeted by Islamists than say oz or nz.

Years ago I'd said it would start coming to this... but the apologists and excessive progressives said, "NO, it won't because we're such good people and will gloss over by tolerating the intolerable of this particular ideology..." The extremists themselves said they'd do this, and the naïve fools said, "Oh they don't really mean what they say at all, they don't understand their own religious ideology the way it was meant to be by our standards." and the extremists did what they said they'd do according to their religious doctrine...

Fools never learn.

@outrider. I agree.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

roosterman, I meant the latter.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

@outrider. Are you suggesting that they shouldn't be monitored because it's a waste of money and that the police are picking on Muslims? Or: Are you saying that because of Australia's past immigration and refugee policies, we are now paying for it in terms of security and finance?

"Islamic State-inspired"

"What the heck does that mean?"

I think it means Islamic State-inspired, as in inspired by Islamic State. Are you saying it isn't?

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Spot on, Outrider. 400-plus cops were involved in todays arrests, and we in Sydney have a full-time "Middle-eastern crime task force" squad, which costs tens of millions of dollars, to keep the Lebanese and other M.E. gangsters/drug-dealers/wannabe terrorists in check. Imagine if we could spend it on schools, hospitals and roads.

The cost of monitoring these muslims is enormous. Id be interested to know how much money is spent monitoring potential terrorists from other religeons. Im guessing its ZERO.

Excellent policing yet again from the federal cops. They had been tracking the emails/calls of these horrible Lebanese and Egyptian wannabe terrorists for several months. Plenty of other nations could learn from Australia's security which has thwarted so many islamist plots over the years. Lets hope these pigs are held indefinitely - in solitary - after they have served their sentences.

Islamic State-inspired

What the heck does that mean? Anything to avoid the obvious, that the oil rich Sunni Middle East countries and the West has and is fomenting chaos in the Middle East and the chickens are coming home.
