I'm curious why Wikileaks isn't releasing info on what Russian intelligence has been doing and also why they haven't released info on Trump's business dealings, especially in places like Azerbaijan.

Russia stopped using internet connected systems inside their intelligence agencies years ago to avoid this issue. They realized the core problem and took steps to prevent it.

Plus, people who piss off President Putin tend to either disappear or die http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/putins-way/ . If you piss off a US President, it is unlikely to change anything about your life. Just don't make a threat if you don't want the Secret Service to visit you.

Only thing that matches the CIA is the Russian FSB/GRU

Dont worry, that just the first leak... there is a lot more scheduled to appear... ,tbh the sooner CIA, NSA and all the secret agencies are disbanned and their execs go to jail - the better!

And, if you have a "smart" (Spy) TV, plug that into a power bar, when not in use, switch it off. It also saves you money on electricity bill.

So that makes it ok for other countries especially the rogues to attempt the same thing right? It's pretty damn scary that we live in a period of no accountability for spy entities.

@Fred, they are only held accountable to their own countries governments and only to other foreign governments when caught. Sorry, but I live in reality, and this is how the spy game works bro. Intelligence agencies have been around for much longer than both you and I have been around. They've been using dubious means to gather information for centuries... you think it's going to change because you don't like it? Reality vs idealism... deal with it. You're sure as hell not going to be able to do much about it except go dark to the rest of the world and stick with snail mail. If you're not willing to do that, then you'll have to deal with what we have.

No it's not right in the world of our idealistic rights where everyone's privacy is respected without question. But that is not how human beings actually are, and it's not how our governments work. So once again, can you provide a realistic solution? You didn't offer one, you just complained about something you couldn't do anything about. Short from actual world peace where everyone can trust everyone else it's a crap shoot.

More reasons why I will not buy a "smart" TV or even connect any of my appliance to internet for apparently no strong reason at all.

Why release the code? Wikileaks seems addicted to creating collateral damage with their leaks to the point of being anarchists. They could make the same points without releasing code, or irrelevant personal memos, or other personal information that has nothing to do with wrongdoing.

But they don't.

The CIA must be using a contractor that worked with the Hillary Clinton for President campaign.

Productive? How is that going to better your life or put food on the table?

No, constant whining and complaining about Trumps tax returns doesn't improve anyone's lives. But it sure makes the Left feel better about losing the election. Whatever helps them get through the day and relieves their depression is okay by me.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

bass

How would it better our lives? Well, for starters, when Trump's tax returns are made public as they should be, he'll probably be impeached and then jailed. That would make things a lot better for many people!

"WikiLeaks! I love WikiLeaks!"

-- Donald Trump, Oct 10, 2016

WikiLeaks' raison d'etre has not changed - the WikiLeaks of Oct 2016 is still the same WikiLeaks as now.

That's why Trump can't say anything because he only just praised WikiLeaks for what they do.

Is it WikiLeak's raison d'etre to make Americans paranoid?

WikiLeaks does seem to be lacking in attacking other governments

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@FredW And this release was just 1%. Next few weeks should make heads spin for sure!!

Do you know what's coming out in the 'next few weeks'? Has Nashi given its keyboard brigade members a heads up?

So that makes it ok for other countries especially the rogues to attempt the same thing right?

That's an important question. It seems all countries do it, but to me that doesn't make it right. The US appears to have spies everywhere. Can you imagine how frightening it would be to see the US and Russia join forces, especially given the elaborate spy networks both are said to have? If the US and Russia joined forces, I have to think people - including myself - who fear a globalist cabal must really be concerned. Let's hope the US and Russia NEVER join forces.

Is it WikiLeak's raison d'etre to make Americans paranoid?... like they need any more fuel

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This is not even news for any one who has ever followed any alt media. The big companies say they fight for your privacy but happily hand over data and build back doors for the spooks to get in. Tis should be under the archaeology heading.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

please do tell how a country is supposed to identify and at least attempt to prevent such threats from around the globe.

So that makes it ok for other countries especially the rogues to attempt the same thing right? It's pretty damn scary that we live in a period of no accountability for spy entities. Enter wikileaks. And this release was just 1%. Next few weeks should make heads spin for sure!!

WikiLeaks should work on something productive. Like releasing Trump's tax returns.

Productive? How is that going to better your life or put food on the table?

@fizxb Ha! Your doing it again, making yourself look foolish. Why? Because you can't provide any proof that the "evil" Russians have subverted our election

Ha! Your (sic) doing it again! Making a statement "it was the CIA making it look like the Russians." without any evidence whatsoever to back up your claim. Can you provide evidence for your claim? I don't expect you to prove it, just provide some evidence, perhaps a link.

Proof Russians were involved? Of course I can't provide proof, but I do have opinions. I think they were involved. Do you have proof they were not? Here's info on Russian involvement in US elections. Please provide your counter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_interference_in_the_2016_United_States_elections

I find it interesting that so many Russians seem to be involved in online forums backing Trump, the US rightists, and Putin himself. Though I find it somewhat concerning, as long as the 'west', as it's called, can keep a free press, it's probably OK. They get paid for it, I don't. I'll continue to question Russian's I think are involved in providing fake news. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/nov/06/troll-armies-social-media-trump-russian

Exactly! I feel like a lunatic thinking that my car can assassinate me. Yet....

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-08/cia-listed-blackberry-s-car-software-as-possible-target-in-leak

When security researchers showed how they could hack into a Jeep, taking control away from the driver while on the highway, BlackBerry was quick to say its tech wasn’t involved in the breach. That hack led to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV recalling 1.4 million cars and trucks -- the first auto recall prompted by hacking fears.

The Blackberry system is installed in 60 MILLION cars, and BlackBerry has touted its software as ripe for the development of self-driving features and the fully autonomous cars of the future.

@fizzb Typical. Turn this around back to your hysterical vendetta.

I'm sure it must be hard to accept that Trump is showing he's exactly the same old ruling class snake oil salesman he's been all his life, a man just looking out for the interests of his family businesses and oligarchs worldwide. But then he's over 70 and as they say, leopards and spots.

Please provide proof that it was the CIA making it look like it was the Russians. And why do you think Wikileaks is not providing info on Russia and Trump?

On another subject, if his business dealings in Azerbaijan are shown to have violated federal law, do you think he should resign?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

I'm curious why Wikileaks isn't releasing info on what Russian intelligence has been doing and also why they haven't

Typical. Turn this around back to your hysterical vendetta. It was never the Russians, it was the CIA making it look like the Russians. Trump could never build a wall bigger than the one you lefties have around your critical thinking skills.

So the CIA can listen in on your conversations through your TV even if it's off? No Sh#t! We've known this for awhile. Funny thing is, if I would have written that here on JT last week, the SJW's and the "lefty elitist intelligentsia" here would have, without a doubt, fired off their "tin foil hat" and conspiracy theory comments, once again, making themselves look foolish like they always do. Why? Because anything that challenges their "wholesome" idealism and the moral righteousness of the benevolent Obama administration MUST be a Russian trick.

All the Internet and email stuff is whatever. I think most people already assumed that was going on. Your phone and TV, somewhat surprising but not to the level of being shocking. We already knew about webcams being turned on remotely.

The most concerning to me is the fact that they might have some type of remote control device for your car. So now they can try to control your car to kill you or control one of these driverless cars and crash it into you?

For example, now I have to wonder was Michael Hastings actually murdered? Seems more likely than not: http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/media/wikileaks-vault-7-dump-reignites-conspiracy-theories-surrounding-death-of-michael-hastings/news-story/0df1d06403d0223ce1cfc286a1e75325

Kremileaks would be a more pertinent appellation these days...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Where Putin and Russia are concerned probably out of fear. For the security services, a world of inhabited with spies and paranoia, it's impossible to identify accurately friend or foe, so the methodology to fall back on, is a capture all policy, and develop the date mining tools and modelling to wheedle out the undesirables or the odd basket of deplorables.

They, who they are, have been proverbially rummaging through every nook and cranny, before the public at large fully realized they had a nook and cranny private enough to be worth rummaging through.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Fact, their is absolutely no 100% to internet/social media privacy nor security short of completely unplugging from the internet. Think about it... The CIA suddenly becomes bad for doing its job? I get scam calls and so on from people in INDIA almost every week, their caller ID shows as Washington DC/IRS etc..... China was credited as being behind the hack that stole over 2+ Terabytes of information on the F-35, Many corporate entities around the world have been hacked and infected for over a decade for information.... Google, Sony, Yahoo, and more have been hacked to get private consumer information and financial information... Credit card companies also....

So before everyone starts getting their panties in a twist... please do tell how a country is supposed to identify and at least attempt to prevent such threats from around the globe. I await some feasible answers... cos even one's antivirus can be bypassed and many intelligence agencies are using the same exact tools and back doors that many hackers and crime groups use.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Live by the sword, die by the sword. If your organization is in the business of hacking people to get their information, don't come running to us all screaming foul when you get hacked and exposed. Some people, I mean really! No shame! Makes me sick.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Ironic, the most secretive of organizations is leakier than a sieve, nothing stays secret or long.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Of course Big Brother is here to protect and serve the people of the world against the ever constant threat from, um.... the enemy eternal. We would be lost without him. So they can hack into our phones, homes, tvs and cars huh? Nothing to see here, move along.

Don't you love seeing people with nefarious motives squirm? Sorry CIA , thank you but no thank you. Arrogant SOBs.

Their argument will be if WE don't do it, someone worse will, that's all they have. Agenda exposed for all to see, in all its glory. Thanks Wikileaks. You will go down in history for at least trying!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Last time I checked, breaking into computers was illegal in almost every country. The CIA and NSA have been caught AGAIN doing illegal things. Someone needs to be extradited and needs to spend some time in jail. Since we can't jail the guy at the top, I'll settle for the liars at the top of the CIA and NSA, to start.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Oh, NOW we are concerned about leaks of confidential information? No one has batted an eye when transcripts of private citizen phone calls have been leaked. Dont want anyone spying on our own people but us, says the CIA.

Also proves Obama lied in January 2014 when he told tech companies they would be informed of zero day exploits and other vulnerabilities. Im sure his people will explain that away as not a lie by using words such as loophole, intent, exemption or not to my knowledge.

https://jia.sipa.columbia.edu/online-articles/healey_vulnerability_equities_process

“It is CIA’s job to be innovative, cutting-edge, and the first line of defense in protecting this country from enemies abroad,” she said.

clearly not good enough now that you are exposed

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The big question is whether CIA hacks were used within US's own soil which is a NoNo for the CIA in which they are strictly forbidden.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Don't spy on me even I have nothing to hide.
