CIA may continue with their search operation using magnifying glasses, but Bin Laden may have been hunted down by Allah long ago. Why? No video tape released by him, despite global financial crisis and other recent political developments in the U.S.

He's dead Jim. This is a man that thrived on publicity, how telling that it's only been zawahiri that had been making noise these past few years. Laden looked gravely ill in the only absolutely confirmed video of him in november of 2001. Most likely he was killed around that time in tora bora. The bush administration felt he was dead too around that time too, yet lo and behold just in time for the 2004 election "laden" appears in a video (looking nothing like the man). All of a sudden laden is very much alive in the eyes of bush to prolong his endless wars,

If this administration had any ounce of clue, it would have publicly declared bin laden dead way back in 2002. This way it would have forced the al qaeda network to give absolute 100 percent proof laden was still alive instead of pathetic audio recordings and phony staged videos of "laden."

As it stands now in fact the very appearance that laden is still alive, after over SEVEN years of this war in afghanistan, with the world's most strongest and advanced nation unable to capture him, actually makes the U.S. military and government look very weak. This announcement by the CIA is hardly anything to gloat over.

Can you believe this, still no capture of bin Laden after all this time. He might be dead, he might just be enjoying himself. I don't recall that he was ever a flamboyant person, so kicked back with a bottle of water may be all he wants.

Still either way dead or alive, bin Laden has never been brought in.

He's dead! But they'll make a video of him and use it as an excuse to invade Pakistan. "His videos" always seem to pop up when the US needs an excuse.

Can the Europeans and Canadians here tell us what their country is doing to find Osama Bin Laden, especially since all attacks either planned or carried out have targeted their countries since 9/11? Honest question....I'm curious as to how their governments are presenting their own fight to their people.

I suspect that Canadians and Europeans are unable to have any kind of intelligent conversation about what their own country is doing vis-a-vis Bin Laden. I've asked smith several times directly but he's been unable or unwilling to answer, and no one else has has stepped up to the plate to offer anything themselves.

There is some news here that the CIA spokesman Michael Hayden has prepared to speak at the Atlantic Council, but his remarks seem to be a sort of general running summary of the ever present danger to the United States, and a world overview, containing nothing new that we haven't read in the general media.

The headline of the article, however, gives the impression that things are now really beginning in earnest. "The hunt is on!!!" (When if you read the article, it isn't really)

I've been so amazed that after 7 years they still haven't found bin Laden. After all this time they still have no idea where her is.

It would just be shocking to me to know that the same people who have spent hours writing thousands of words criticizing the US's efforts in capturing Bin Laden wouldn't be able to write a single sentence telling me what their own government is doing, especially since Bin Laden has targeted and/or killed their own people.

Two-thirds of Brits support removing all of their troops from Afghanistan. Wow.

People think that Osama is the king pin of terror attacks in this world, and that if he is caught its all over. It kind of reminds me of the Satan theory. One master dark lord in control of many demons. Well Osama has not been bought to fair trial and I wonder if there is any evidence to convict him of any of the crimes he is blamed of. Sure...the videos. But it may just be the ravings of a madman.

There are plenty of terrorists in this world and like a hydra, cut off one head and another will grow. Osama is not to blame for every single extremist response that we see happen in our world and hurling bombs at them is not a deterrent. Osama is in all likelihood dead but is the worlds new grim reaper.

I got tired of hearing about him. If he were alive he would have been dragged out of a spider hole just like Saddam was by now. I do not buy into this great Satan myth at all.

It's not surprising the US govenment gets critisized for leaving the trail and attacking somewhere else totally irrelavant to the so-called war on terror.

The country where I pay my taxes (yeah) are supporting the hunt with the most numbers of troops after yourselves, and my country of birth just promised more troops.

So I'm not sure why you're bringing up the Euro angle.

Canada has yet to br attacked, although a terrorist cell was recently arrested for planning to commit acts of terror on Canadian soil(no link to Bin Laden). I guess that Canada doesn't do much to look for Bin Laden because rational thinking would lead someone to believe that killing Bin Laden is not going to stop terrorism or terrorist attacks. That being said, Joint Task Force 2, Canada's anti-terrorism unit has been operating in Afghanistan since 2001 aiding the USA in the hunt for Taliban and assumably Bin Laden. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Task_Force_2

SuperLib: Part of the reason why we often don't answer you straight-forward on such questions is (a) you often reply with some sarcastic comment like, "Wow... Britain is now removing it's troops!" (despite them having been in and supported the fight in Afghanistan for some time). (b) there is no need. Show me the headlines where Canada was attacked directly by Bin Laden and then where Canadian Prime Ministers started wars saying, "We know where he is, don't worry!", and, "We'll catch him", and other such bombast. You have brought the criticism on yourselves through GWB's arrogance and foolhardy comments that they would catch him very shortly, 'dead or alive', etc.

Those facts aside, it is important for all nations, in my opinion, who are not FOR Bin Laden (for sadly, there are some) and don't support him, to help SUPPORT efforts towards his capture. Canada, as a result, has been in Afghanistan since the war began, and plays a huge part in peace keeping missions there (despite the US dropping bombs on its soldiers by accident, by the way).

Anyway, cut the diversions and answer the criticisms/questions as to why your government, which has claimed they know where he is and will kill or capture him (followed by Bush's famous, "We don't care, he's not a concern!" 180 when they realized it's not so easy), but stop lashing out at others when said criticism is clearly deserved.

Yah, only the US can afford a hunt plan, cost 1 trillion so far, to keep going on.

I think the hunt has been on all along. It was never off. Just because we don't know every detail that is known by security agencies doesn't mean it's off despite what some liberal leaning anti-american inferiority complex canadian tells us.
