Catalans deserve freedom from oppressive Spain.

Keep fighting for your rights.

Do whatever it takes, look to Hong Kong as an example how to fight the government.

Not all Catalans support separation, only about 44% of the 5 million population.

Is separation the same as independence? Anyway, we would be more certain of the level of support if a referendum were held.

I hope the Spanish government crushes their elitist “rebellion”.

Russians do love a string government.

CNN: Crickets

Fox News: Crickets

MSM: Crickets

EU: Crickets

So what have we learned from this? I personally learned two things. One is that, if you have a democratic form of government, the MSM and the people of the world would not care even if you crack people's head open on the streets, arrest and beat to death separatists and use any form of power necessary to contain any form of discontent or uprising happening in your country. If, on the other hand, your form of governance is not democratic, and there is a separatist riot happening in your country, the MSM and the people of the world will be very upset with you if you even attempt to defend yourself.

The second thing that i learned is that in a sick society, hypocrisy is only a problem when it conflicts with somebody else's hypocrisy.

Catalans need to vote their representatives into the Spanish representation system as their first step. Then they can work to make local laws which fit their needs.

Hopefully, the first thing they address is petty theft. Barcelona is world famous for street and subway thieves. I've experienced this.

@burningbushCatalans deserve freedom from oppressive Spain.

Fracturing the EU serves Putin's purpose. Catalan's separation would make it easier for Putin to include them in his Eurasian Economic Union.

@cla68 I hope the Spanish government crushes their elitist “rebellion”.

Why would anyone hope for anyone to be crushed? More cheerleading for war. But then that's some people's assignment.

Man, some people really are obsessed with Putin.

Give it a rest already. This has nothing to do with Russia.

These are people in Catalonia who simply want freedom and for their voice to be heard.

You said something a bit different before. You said:

Less than 44% of Catalonian's are separatists

Just because some people are not separatists does not mean they are against separation. Surely some are neutral. 44 percent is almost half and it would not be surprising if the neutral camp is over 20 percent. Thus 44 percent may well be a majority, particularly considering that identifying oneself as a separatist can be dangerous. What is the source of your information?

Catalonia already has a very decentralized autonomic system within Spain.

Article 2 of the Spanish constitution is very clear.

The Constitution is based on the indissoluble unity of the Spanish Nation, the common and indivisible homeland of all Spaniards, and recognizes and guarantees the right to autonomy of the nationalities and regions that make it up and solidarity among them all.

Independence is impossible as long as this article exists.
