Clinton Foundation donors got face time with her at State

It is the view of Democrats that it is just fine for a high government official to accept money for her private interests and then allow those same wealthy individuals to get direct access to her in her official capacity in order to seek favors. While some got something for their money and others did not, the point is they were able to buy access. That is corruption. It's was corrupt in the past and it is corrupt now. Are Dems still upset about union and business contributions to politicians acknowledged as constitutional by the Citizens United supreme court decision? Probably not. Cognitive dissonance is a requirement for membership in the Democrat party.

Like Aetna, a growing number of insurers on the Obamacare exchanges are voicing concerns about the viability of the program as they run up big losses.

The system has its problems, but the insurance companies drive up the costs themselves with all of the paperwork/admin that they add to the system. Estimates are around 25%.

Ok, so do away with the African American community, they aren't worth a darn, that's pretty much what the left wants to say. Wow, if conservatives would say that, that would be considered racist. But to my exact point, this president and this administration could care less about Blacks and the numbers show it. But I think it's interesting that Liberals claim they care and are so concerned with the struggles of Blacks and yet, they are MORE concerned about the generalities of just the country itself and not the individual ethnic communities that are suffering under this disastrous president.

the State of the country overall is doing horribly, economically, racially, socially. This president has been the absolute worst and especially for his largest supporters, African Americans.

The State of the country overall is doing well, with the exception of race relations. This congress has been the absolute worst and especially for his largest supporters, African Americans.

Keeping the country from collapse, lowering the jobless rate, increasing the stock market, getting healthcare for the poor, lower gas prices, and a better image of America across the world - yeah, a real disaster.

The number of black food-stamp participants exploded across that time frame from 7,393,000 to 11,699,000, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports — up 58.2 percent. Also, from Obama’s oath of office through the fourth quarter of 2015, the percentage of black Americans who own homes foundered from 46.1 percent to 41.9 percent, according to the Census — down 9.1 percent.

California 11%, Nevada 13%, Illinois 12.2, Connecticut 13.2%, Minnesota !4.1%. Iowa 14.8 States with some of the highest Black populations having record unemployment

Like Aetna, a growing number of insurers on the Obamacare exchanges are voicing concerns about the viability of the program as they run up big losses. Many say that their premiums were too low and didn't cover the cost of care because their consumers are far sicker than anticipated. Large insurers aren't the only ones running into trouble. More than half of the co-op insurers, created and funded by the health reform law, have failed. This means consumers in a growing number of areas have only one or two insurers to pick from.

http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/15/news/economy/aetna-obamacare/

Economic growth is now tracking at a 1% rate in 2016—the weakest start to a year since 2011—when combined with a downwardly revised reading for the first quarter. That makes for an annual average rate of 2.1% growth since the end of the recession, the weakest pace of any expansion since at least 1949.

As if the it matters what the world thinks. Liberals and Democrats can peddle that mess all day, when you peel back that onion, the State of the country overall is doing horribly, economically, racially, socially. This president has been the absolute worst and especially for his largest supporters, African Americans.

No chirping at all...many articles on this issue. I have read more than a few and find them troubling. One reason I do not support Trump either.

@Outrider - Yes I did expect down votes for not blindly following Ms. Clinton. I am avidly against Trump, however I do trust Ms. Clinton either. I guess we are expected to choose one or the other - regardless I do not really care about down or up votes.

There is something not right about the foundation and access to high level officials.

http://ktla.com/2016/08/10/newly-released-emails-raise-questions-about-clinton-foundation-state-dept/

People can argue "Republicans do it too" - That is not a valid point to me. If Republicans do it too then go after them with full force. I am not particularly willing to accept corruption in a government to which I pay taxes (although I am living in Japan). Furthermore go ahead and go after Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush for what was done in Iraq for all that matters.

To me, the fact that it costs so much to run for office nowadays demonstrates how corrupt and morally bankrupt the U.S. government has become. Mr. Clinton's campaign fundraising goal is 1 billion dollars. Imagine what could be done with that money to help those in need. Trump is partially self financed but he also is a multi millionaire or billionaire.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/clinton-campaign-halfway-billion-fundraising-goal-41556398

Relevant to this topic, I believe major reforms are required relative to campaign finance in the U.S. It would be one step forward to help solve the most likely unsolvable issue of money and politics (heck it even corrupts the IOC).

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Lizz, since this topic is in your area of research, can you get us details about Trump's donations to Florida officials?

To the best of my recollection, the Florida AG is the only party in this case facing federal charges for personally soliciting a bribe for her political committee from Trump. If there is more to the story I'm sure it will come out. But he isn't hiding anything, quite the opposite in fact, and it isn't tax payer money obviously so the ones it should be career-ending for are the politicians that accepted his donations.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Lizz, since this topic is in your area of research, can you get us details about Trump's donations to Florida officials? Something about the state considering joining the Trump U lawsuit, then Trump donates 25k, then a few days later the state decided not to participate. Is there anything there we should be aware of? I haven't independently researched it yet.

Just for starters she has already been connected to the shady investor currently in prison for defrauding Haitians.

http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2016/08/hillary-state-dept-helped-jailed-clinton-foundation-donor-get-10-mil-u-s-failed-haiti-project/

The bigger story is that, despite Osorio’s shady history, it appears that the Clinton State Department helped him get $10 million—which will never be repaid—because he was a Clinton Foundation donor. This connection was not made until years after Osorio got sentenced. After his 2013 sentencing in Miami, the area’s largest newspaper tied him to the Clintons and President Obama as a campaign donor who held fundraisers at his waterfront home, but the foundation was not mentioned. A Washington D.C. newspaper eventually connected the dots after obtaining a document that shows an OPIC official recommending funding for Osorio’s Haiti project. In the document, the OPIC official writes that Osorio’s company had “U.S. persons of political influence that are able to assist in advancing the company’s plans.” It continues: “For instance, former President Bill Clinton is personally in contact with the Company to organize its logistical and support needs,” the document states. “Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has made available State Department resources to assist with logistical arrangements.” Additionally, the Clinton Global Initiative had “indicated that it would be willing to contract to purchase 6,500 homes in Haiti from InnoVida within the next year.”

OMG!!!! Clinton is a... POLITICIAN!!!!!!

If Clinton did any more than meet with donors, and that's all she did, she's totally safe. And will go on to crush Trump.

Repubs of course are already skreeching conspiracy. But they are truly the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and no one outside the Choir will care. IOW, will not move the needle.

If Clinton took official actions that she wouldn't have taken otherwise, it will dog her. Again, won't affect the presidential election, because most if not all people don't care.

Could affect down-ballot.

Hillary Clinton's campaign manager Robby Mook laughs and grins his way through an appearance on Morning Joe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdq3Qr-Ys3M

Interesting that he displayed encyclopedic knowledge of all facts favorable to Clinton. But when it came to something that might harm her, Robby suddenly pleaded ignorance. And then picked up the same MO as Hillary: resumed laughing so as not to have to grace the issue with a reply.

From CNN;

"Bill Clinton set up the public charity after he wrapped up his presidency in 2001 with the idea of bringing government, businesses and social groups together to tackle big problems. It was kind of a new idea at the time. On Monday, Clinton wrote in a post on Medium that the foundation is about "creating opportunities and solving problems faster, better, at lower cost so that more people are empowered to build better futures for themselves, their families and their communities." …

The foundation is made up of 11 non-profit groups that work on four major issues: global health and wellness, climate change, economic development and improving opportunities for girls and women. Health is a big focus. In more than 70 countries, according to the foundation, it helps 11.5 million people, including 800,000 children, with HIV/AIDS get their medication at 90% lower cost -- more than half the adults and three-quarters of the children getting treatment in the world today."

Even the AP story is written as a big "MAYBE?" w/o showing even one instance of anything wrong (though it heavily leans on the "... but what if?" BS line that isn't reporting or investigating but just mud-slinging).

And every person who has made a claim that theclintons have siphoned off money from the charity are truly represented by Trump and his people - any lie is good if it distracts attention from what you are.

**

You couldn't care less about people suffering or dying - and most of you want to see Trump and the Republicans in so that there will be even more suffering, torture, dying, killing, like nothing will ever touch you and those you care for.

Some Trump voters are ignorant, or simply and honestly stupid.

Not anyone here gets that or any other excuse.

From the Ap story itself:

"The 154 did not include U.S. federal employees or foreign government representatives. Clinton met with representatives of at least 16 foreign governments that donated as much as $170 million to the Clinton charity, but they were not included in AP's calculations because such meetings would presumably have been part of her diplomatic duties."

Matt Y points out:

"And the smoking gun is that Clinton went out of her way to help a Nobel Peace Prize winner who was having trouble with a foreign government?" And someone who they had known since Bill was governor.

The AP is trying to play the usual "both sides" game - and when one side Trump, it takes more than athumb on the scales of fairness.

What of this? When the press attacks Trump, it's "the media is absolutely biased!"

Until it runs this sort of BS story, then it's "See! The press must be believed!"

It's the same as their forebears - creationists - and how they view science. With utter contempt and dishonest manipulation.

You're not good citizens, and many of you are simply not good human beings of any sort.

Shore is! Especially after Assange leaks Trump's tax returns, ha ha

1 ( +3 / -2 )

All that has to be done now is to find who of the 85 donors hired her husband and gave him cash and what officials acts were done to benefit the 85 donors. On top of lying to the FBI and not disclosing 15,000 work related emails which will be coming out before the election. As David Geffen so famously put it, “Everyone in politics lies, but [the Clintons] do it with such ease, it’s troubling.”

No, it's because she's not a Republican. You guys have been trying to smear Obama for the last eight years as well, and he's been nothing but upstanding.**

Oh my God! Hillary wants to continue the Obama policies which are nothing but a disaster! another 8 years of war, political correctness, TTIP & TPP, unchecked mass illegal immigration paid by tax payers, Obama-care that has destroyed small businesses, more racial tensions and military training and equipment for local police, more deals with terrorist states, more transgender bathrooms, etc.

NO THANK YOU!

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Heh. Babes in the woods. Do you not see how other Republicans are not piling on this? - it is because, but for the grace of email leaks, there go they. One might wonder, for example, of Trump's explanation of his charity donations (hint: all that we know is that they were all from the Trump Foundation until he releases his tax returns; in the meantime, we know that some 10% of the combined Clinton income went to charity). As I mentioned above, perhaps some illegality will be found - but you will not find GOP players urging investigation lest the worms turn on them.

I'd suggest the health issue might be more promising. Or Benghazi redux. Or perhaps revisit Whitewater. This line of attack is a circular firing squad - those in the know know it, and that is why it will go nowhere. Unless something actually comes up, but the Clintons Re way to smart for that, I suspect.

The article is why I cannot support either "mainstream" candidate. Trump is simply not fit for duty. Ms. Clinton is too questionable. For those asking...but what about Republicans? etc.? As an independent voter I agree. ALL government officials need to be held to high standards. In this case I think they need to get to the bottom of this. This is some pretty serious stuff

http://www.dailywire.com/news/8581/uh-oh-abc-admits-hillary-lied-about-giving-state-aaron-bandler

The evidence that shows close ties between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department proves Hillary Clinton lied during her confirmation hearing in 2009, according to ABC News.

The network's Brian Ross said Tuesday morning Clinton vowed not to grant special access to foundation donors if she earned the confirmation to serve in the Obama administration. But she didn't stick to her promise, according to new documents released by Judicial Watch Monday.

Hillary consciously deleted these emails to hide her corrupt influence-peddling. This goes to intent. Yes, she lied about it, because she knew she was covering up a crime. Just because she may have known just how much evidence to destroy to make it impossible to prove by legal standards that she intentionally broke the law doesn't get her off the hook.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

This Clinton Foundation thing is an easy fix. Both Hillary and Huma Abedin were on the State Department payroll and being paid a salary by taxpayers. Yet they had time to collect 2 billion dollarsand deal with the requests from at least 6,000 donors during State Department paid time.

So what they do is this. Prepare a report that says: Who donated the money? How much did they donate? What did they ask for in return? What did they get?

But they will never do this as the money was to entice them to do something against the interests of the State Department and the people of the USA. Otherwise, their request could have been handled through official channels.

Example from Judicial Watch: "... Crown Prince Salman of Bahrain, who secured a meeting with the secretary of State by reaching out to Band, who then reached out to Abedin. “Cp of Bahrain in tomorrow to Friday[.] Asking to see her[.] Good friend of ours,” Band wrote Abedin on July 23, 2009. “He asked to see hrc thurs and fri thru normal channels,” Abedin replied. “I asked and she said she doesn’t want to commit to anything for thurs or fri until she knows how she will feel.”"

Guess who felt better and had the meeting once a 32 million dollar donation was agreed upon?

So my main question is, what did he WANT that costs 32 million and has he gotten what he has paid for or is that still on hold until Hillary becomes president?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

The "hold your nose and vote for hillary" theory will be proven to be empty.

Only if the media doesn't do its job.

There are several alternative choices to vote (incl write ins, etc). I think a lot of people with integrity will not simply vote for hillary because she happens to be the democratic party nominee. Hillary is too tarnished and by november what there is of her reputation will be in tatters.

We do, live in a land of hope.

She's lucky. All the media has to do is say "Trump is evil, don't watch Fox News and if you don't like Obama or Clinton you are racist and sexist - oh and Black Lives Matter", and everything is ignored.

Hillary could even lie about getting shot at and nobody.....oh wait. That already happened.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Maybe Hillary Clinton just invited the donors to the State Department so she could say "Thank you!".

2 ( +2 / -0 )

We don't need to look at the donations received by Clinton foundation as much as we need to look at what those donors received in return. These foundations are supposedly for charitable purposes, but what they really are is graft-generating machines. Companies and wealthy individuals can deduct donations from their taxes, and the immense political connections held by the foundation can find ways to repay said companies and wealthy individuals for their donations. These companies care nothing at all for what little of the money they donate ends up actually put to good use, what they want is a positive return for their investment, I mean, donation.

Such foundations are gold mines for the likes of the Clintons, and are capable of generating much larger returns than the simple kickbacks milked out of overpriced infrastructure and building projects. A foundation like this can pay for and operate a Gulfstream jet and crew, pay for a penthouse office and apartment in NYC, or other things like country club memberships and the like. And the $2 billion the foundation has received thus far is nothing compared to what it would get if Hillary were to get a term or two as president. Does anyone wonder why hundreds of millions of dollars are spent campaigning for public offices which pay only hundreds of thousands of dollars? Now you know.

In the business world, when you are being audited, you typically don`t release your tax returns publically until the audit is complete. This is standard practice.

As for Russian, Chinese or Middle Eastern countries, besides his real estate empire, What are you saying? And where does that mafia man Erdogan play a role?

Now Hillary on the other hand, doesn`t have a multinational empire except for the Clinton Foundation where if you wanted any face time with Hillary, you have to pay-to-play, in order to get favors done.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

"I don't give a pass on Trump"

What in the name of Benghaziing teleprompters are you non-partisaning about now? You make up excuses non-stop for his statements and behaviour.

Let's start with you regurgitating the Fox News smirks about Obama using a teleprompter. You were ROFLing non-stop. Trump's use of one hasn't even merited a LOL from you.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Why won't Trump release his tax returns? What is his relationship to Russian and Chinese financiers? What is his relationship to the Dubai and Abu Dhabi ruling families? Erdogan in Turkey?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

How this level of corruption is tolerated and she isn't automatically prevented from holding any further public office amazes me. The US is becoming a crony state. Trump may be erratic and bit unhinged, but I can understand why the public might elect anyone to stop this type of rot becoming the norm in public life.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

@Sup

I don't give a pass on Trump and neither does the media, at all! So why are you giving a pass on Hillary? As far as Sanders fans, they want more socialism, entitlements, so why would they want to work when a 74 year old socialist promises to give them everything, if they vote for Trump, they have to actually get up and work to make a living instead of spooning off of the tax payer. Oh, the horror of it all!

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

No, they purchased special favors.

Whether any evidence arrives of this will be interesting to see (and I'm not saying it won't - you can imagine the flurry of activity to discover actual wrong-doing), but at the moment, there is nothing. Clinton was free to meet whoever she wanted to, as are all politicians.

...these are huge amounts of money given directly to Hillary and her family.

Nope; these were given to her family's foundation. Granted, some money is disbursed from the foundation to family members for various reasons (Chelsea in particular draws a large salary - $400,000? - as a foundation director), but all of this has been quite transparent as the foundation's finances must be open for public scrutiny.

Come up with some actual law-breaking and I'll pay attention. Otherwise, it's simply American politics as usual.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

If Hillary can get away with the careless handling of sensitive intelligence information, the FBI can easily overlook the selling of her office for contributions to her "charity". A charity which incidentally pays for her comfy lifestyle and extravagant overseas trips. Laws are for commoners - not our politically connected betters like Hillary.

Republicans living in the unicornverse always think sainted anointed trump is perfect, and give him a free pass on everything ALWAYS, even though he is a certified by the courts, genocidal terrorist criminal.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"Got face time"? No, they purchased special favors. Foreign nationals who would not normally get access to the Secretary of State got situations/requests reviewed and special assistance given that was not available to the taxpayers. Why did she refuse to meet with people but when they paid money to the Clinton Foundation, suddenly it was part of her job as Sec of State?

So while the PAY FOR PLAY people get the access, who was ignored that was part of her actual job? Was she taking money from Saudi Arabia and doing favors for them instead of replying to the work related emails about security in Libya for example?

These are not one time donations in the sense of a campaign or something, these are huge amounts of money given directly to Hillary and her family. So she has agreed to stop this but only if she wins!!?? Just like she agreed not mingle Sec of State and Foundation business when she took the job in the first place? yeah right....

0 ( +5 / -5 )

It seems that after discovering their smear campaign against Hillary, in particular Benghazi and the emails, has amounted to nothing, now the right is trying to smear her health.

They know no limits these people. Rather than developing a platform that people want to vote for, they try to discredit her person in hopes that people will go to them by default.

That's why the millennials have grown to hate politics, the right has turned it into a right sleaze-fest.

Trump's former manager was secretly working on behalf of a foreign government while trying to make Trump President.

Clinton's present manager, John Podesta, is the brother of Tony Podesta, the lobbyist that actually took the money and did the work that Manafort reportedly handed him the money to do. Podesta also is one of the biggest paid lobbyists for the Saudis and the Russians, and it is Manafort who is the alleged evil doer. But one more example of the enormous double standard being applied to Trump vice Clinton.

This should be the headline.

Hillary Clinton clearly broke her 2009 Secretary of State confirmation hearing vow.

Or something like that.

Maybe you could word it better Bass. LOL

But it's OK when Republicans do it?

No, of course not, but giving Hillary a pass for a very long is just bad, bad, bad.

What about Trump? You want to pound Clinton while giving Trump a free pass on everything?

I never said that, but compared to Hillary and the shenanigans she's been causing and the MSM downright ignoring it, now with the pressure so turned up, she can't hide from it anymore and the screws are being tightened and the MSM have to finally turn their attention to the source of all this foundation controversy.

Trump's former manager was secretly working on behalf of a foreign government while trying to make Trump President. At the very least there should be an investigation. And we should also see Trump's tax returns to make sure there is no conflict of interest.

Manafort is out, if the media digs up dirt on him, good and I want the same done for Uma and Mills as well. I'm not partisan, I just want full fairness. As for his taxes, he should and Hillary should make public all of her speeches.

So why is the biased MSM printing this about Clinton and not Trump?

What are you talking about, the coverage of Trump over Hillary was over a few hours a day and Hillary a few minutes, that's not bias.

I didn't see Kimmel but was shocked at this. She was only able to walk about 4 minutes at the Gay Pride parade before tanking, with a zombie look,

Sick Hillary coughs, can barely move after "marching" 1 block in parade

Typical softball MSM for Hillary. No mention here about $30 million to the Clinton Foundation from four billionaire Saudis, along with groups the Dubai Foundation and Friends of Saudi Arabia.

While her health implodes. Parkinsons? The other night she was on Jimmy Kimbel Show and opened a pre-opened jar of pickles! She must be healthy! Although, she does need help up those stairs sometimes! She hasn`t held a press conference in, what, 262 days now? Must be all those flashes or simultaneous questions. Boy, I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR THE DEBATE!!!!

Clinton Foundation donors got face time with her at State

Just rewrite it like this: (donor) gets face time with (politician).

bass: Thank you Hillary for the quirks, you'll be receiving a check in the mail soon.

As long as they do their job and keep pounding this woman

The MSM pile on is just beginning, as absurd as it sounds I think people are just starting to realize how and why the private server in her bedroom was being used. Thank God for watch dog groups and whistleblowers like Judicial Watch and Wikileaks.

As long as they do their job and keep pounding this woman as they should, equally, justifiably and fairly, we might get to finally see some traction in this ongoing mystery of this foundation that is swelling around her and these scandals.

for the quirks

Please run that through your machine translator once more. Or are you being humpty-dumpty again, saying a word means whatever you want it to mean? Perquisite is usually shortened to perk. BTW What is your first language.

The bloom is off the rose for the former Rose Law Firm employee.

There’s blood in the water and the sharks are circling. There’s a Pulitzer Prize to be had, just for the taking................

I'll have what you're having.

Meanwhile, in the real world, I would imagine that in Russia there are some people who want to meet with the Republican presidential nominee. Just not in front of the cameras.

Hillary is the only Secretary of State to ever receive requests from notable or wealthy people?

Who knew?
