"Netanyahu told Clinton he was ready to agree to a "long-term solution" as long as the rocket attacks from Gaza stopped." ...........This has been what he's been saying all along, nothing new here, and nothing has, or will ever change. There is nothing "Holy" about this "violent jihad" or bloodshed, it's just a very sad shame that these countries will never relent with their hatred for one another. Islamic Extremeist will not stop until all infidel's are dead or paying tributary!. Israel will endure forever!...and no one can convince them otherwise...Not even Clinton....

How about calling for de-occupation of Palestinian land? That would be a good start on reparations for 60 years of theft?

0 ( +6 / -6 )

In the election, Obama promised "THERE IS NO DAYLIGHT BETWEEN USA & ISRAEL" ..........................................sending Clinton who messed up the Libya/Benghasi debacle demonstrates Obama's commitment to his promise.

I think Mr.Obama is trying his best to "control" a very bad situation, not only bad for Israel but also no good for the Palestinians, but my guess is that Mrs.Clinton should be visiting IRAN, who is behind Hamas there in Gaza, etc..Iran, etc..just love to keep picking fights with Israel, and when the Israelis get pissed off, well all hell brakes loose and then we get Al Jazeerah etc..trying to make ONLY the Jews look like the bad guys, but in the end both Muslims and Jews will have to wake up one day and understand that they are ALL in a no win situation as long as they refuse to recognize each other as fellow human beings! As long as the demonize each other, dehumanize each other they will only be killing each other like junk yard pit bull dogs bread for killing one another. Karma, karma, karma, the worst karma we can make is to kill others and these guys are doing it night and day, they will all have to pay, both Jews and Muslims they CAN NEVER escape from such evil karma.

this escalation must stop now. one improvised rocket from Gaza coast only 100 bucks. Iranian-built Fajr 5 missile cost free because they are donation from Iran.

Iron-Dome missile of Israel cost about 65,000 Bucks per piece. The whole system/radars cost 150 million US dollars. US shoulder about half of the entire iron-dome project and Obama will give 70 million US dollars more.

the escalation, not only about the costs, but in military hardware-term, is just like using baseball bat to kill a house-fly. Attack on Iran would be a fight between wooden baseball bat and steel baseball bat.

this escalation must stop now

Funny, I thought it should stop because people are dying.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The Israeli government should switch off the Iron Dome system while Clinton is pontificating. I bet that would sharpen her mind very quickly.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

escalation can be stopped. But there will be no truce nor peace treaty. Since time immemorial, Palestinians and Jews are fighting with each other. They will continue to fight with each other till the end of the world or the universe or the multiverse.

Meanwhile, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird delivered these remarks to a Jewish organization honoring him.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/11/20/john-baird-hails-miracle-of-israel-in-speech-as-hillary-clinton-begins-ceasefire-talks/

These people are delusional, harking back to the days of Templars and Crusades to rescue the Holy Land.

While it is of historical, archaeological, and even religious significance to more than one group, I dare say that the concept of the Holy Land is an anachronism that has seen its day.

Israel should halt settlement activities on Palestinian land, and return to the 1967 border with international guarantees.

Simple.

If she has called for a quick de-escalation then Israel will make her wait and lose face in public. Powerless and ineffectual she will look.

This will be a punishment and a warning to the US that Israel makes her own decisions, regardless of what the rest of the world says.

So now, to all those people who ask why the US does not control Israel, there is your answer. In order to even 'suggest' a de-escalation, she has to promise them firmly that the US is on Israel's side, plus as a bonus she has to take the humiliation.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

ubikwit,

You are attempting to complicate the issue. This is not a matter of 'harking back to the days of Templars and Crusades to rescue the Holy Land'. It is a matter of a country at war with another country. Keep to the reality of the situation. Israel and Palestine are countries and neither is in danger of being a victim of outside crusades. They are in danger of killing each other.

Israel should halt settlement activities on Palestinian land, and return to the 1967 border with international guarantees.

Okay. What about Hamas?

Not so simple.

This underlines where the USA government position is on Israel.

Palestine is only a "country" insofar as they have unilaterally declared to the UN. They are an occupied people, and it was due to the efforts of adherents to British-Israelism and Freemasons like Harry Truman that the "Jewish State" of Israel was resurrected like a Frankenstein in the former land of Palestine, which existed from Roman times, if I'm not incorrect.

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister is practically spewing doctrine from British-Israelism, and note his mention of Chaim Weizmann, Truman's cohort and co-author of the Balfour declaration.

Okay. What about Hamas?

No one has disputed the recklessness of Hamas, but like many of the Islamists, they are easily provoked, and the Israeli government is fully aware of that.

The only reason that Islamists are in power in Gaza is because Israel refuses to halt settlements and adhere to UN resolutions, such as returning to the 1967 borders.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Skipbeat, to be precised, they are supported this ethnic cleansing in Gaza by Israel, this is very wrong and we have to stop them. Hope God will open people mind and support to free Palestinian from this occupancy

Out of curiosity, how did surgical strikes designed to minimize casualties to civilians become 'ethnic cleansing' which by its very definition is designed to maximize civilian casualties? If Israel is carrying out 'genocide' or 'ethnic cleansing', they're doing a pretty damn poor job.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

if I'm not incorrect.

You are.

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister is practically

Again, none of what you are writing has anything at all to do with the actual reality there. The two sides need to make peace. Your claiming Israel (which it is clear you are doing) does not have the right to exist is just as ridiculous as those that claim Palestine does not have a right to exist.

No one has disputed the recklessness of Hamas, but like many of the Islamists, they are easily provoked, and the Israeli government is fully aware of that.

The question is what should be done when Hamas says clearly that they are never going to make peace with Israel, have in their charter the goal of destroying Israel, only want a non-renewable ten year truce in exchange for the Occupied Territories after which their stated goal is to destroy Israel and take it, too?

The only reason that Islamists are in power in Gaza

That does not make sense. The Islamists came to power after Israel unilaterally left Gaza dragging their crazy settlers kicking and screaming.

Anyway, the situation is what we have now. What should be done about Hamas in your opinion? If you are so concerned about Islamists taking over Syria (not an unreaonsable fear, by the way), what about Hamas taking over everything?

Clinton does not realize that Hamas can not stop all of the rockets flying over Israel. Hamas is one of the major militant group. There are other smaller militant groups such as jihad movement, Muslim brotherhood etc.Comparing with Militants unguided rockets, Israel Iron dome intercept missile cost $62000 for each and iron dome battery cost 5 millions each. Reality is Israel want truce sooner than Hamas because they know Obama can not foot the bill for a long term. Even US is cutting own defense spending, Israel is waging the expensive war with luxury. No wonder US has become third war sooner than later.

"Out of curiosity, how did surgical strikes designed to minimize casualties to civilians become 'ethnic cleansing' "

I never understand the need for either side to add ridiculous hyperbole such as that. It only detracts from their cause.

"Clinton does not realize that Hamas can not stop all of the rockets flying over Israel. Hamas is one of the major militant group."

Then surely if the Hamas cannot control the territory they have a mandate to lead then you'll agree they should step aside?

100% agree. The topic seems to bring out raw emotions on both sides, especially the extremes.

First of all, I made no statement about the right to exist of Israel or Palestine. Personally, I disagree with Freemason Truman's subversion of the UN process to determine the future of the status of Palestine, betraying his Secretary of State in the process, but that is a separate issue.

Regarding the "actual reality there", what I'm writing bears directly on the cause of the conflict; Israeli settlements and expansionist machinations aligned with anachronistic biblical claims, and the refusal to go back to the 1967 borders.

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister's comments appear for all intents and purposes to support precisely the type of theocratically informed claims of the Israeli government that are the primary cause of the conflict.

Maybe you should check the Wikipedia page on Christian Zionism.

Back on topic please.

If the war escalates and more countries take sides, would there be the end of the world on December 12, 2012?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

First of all, I made no statement about the right to exist of Israel or Palestine.

Actually, you did and you have been. The whole post after this is clearly a statement about the right of Israel to exist and it is clear you do not believe it does. Not a helpful position, though it certainly is one that Hamas shares.

Regarding the "actual reality there", what I'm writing

has absolutely nothing to do with it. Further, using terms like 'Zionism' and 'Freemason' to explain the current reality further weakens what seems to be an extremely weak argument to begin with.

Maybe you should check the Wikipedia page on Christian Zionism.

No, thank you. It has nothing to do with the current conflict at all. Enflamed and overly opinionated hyperbole really have no solutions or explanations about what is going on there.

and the refusal to go back to the 1967 borders.

Has Israel formally refused this? Has Israel said they will never trade land for peace? No. Hamas has said this specifically, though. You truly cannot see the forest for the trees.

Then surely if the Hamas cannot control the territory they have a mandate to lead then you'll agree they should step aside?

Of course! They are useless for current conflict. Hamas was elected because It is similar to Charity organization. Fatah is corrupted with pick pocketing western money. Hamas is good for providing food, shelter and employment. However they can not control every militant groups. Not all of them are Sunni sect. Some are Shia sect like Iranians.

If you do not know, simple explanation is Protestant and Roman Catholic of Christian. They have different head office and pope. They can not interfere each other.

By the way, Have u been to Palestine or Israel? If not you mind will be clouded by biased media and posters. Seeing is believing without the filters.

Hamas was elected because It is similar to Charity organization.

Yes, only with guns, rockets, bombs and stuff. Kind of like a scary Santa Claus.

Hamas is good for providing food, shelter and employment.

Don't forget how good they are at killing their rivals. That was a big help in the elections, too.

However they can not control every militant groups.

Evidently, they cannot control Hamas rockets either. They just seem to have shot in the air all by themselves in the thousands.

Seeing is believing without the filters.

I see and believe Hamas and the other militant groups when they say they never want to make peace with Israel.

What is your solution?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SlumDog After 8 days, Israel lost only 5 lives. Israel pounded Gaza with missiles Israel has always been heavy handed and cold blooded killing machine. Hamas is not good either. However they are not powerful like Israel. Israel killed less than a dozen militants. The rest are civilians therefore Israel committed war crimes and atrocities.

My solution is US stop funding and supporting weapons to Israel for sake of the peace. Israel has to target a single militant with snipper for precision. Not launching expensive missile which can sink the air craft carriers and bring down the Jumbo jet.
