To think that this is the best that the US could come up with is totally demoralising. It is a totally politically bankrupt system that is now on show for the world to see and shake its head at. Patriotic Americans should be utterly ashamed of their country that out of 300 million they get Trump and Clinton to choose from.

Moonraker I could not agree with you more. It is laughable how Republicans say they worry how Trump would manage the nation's economy as both parties are equally guilty of bringing the U.S. to its knees. In the U.S. the system is in the pocket of the elites and again both candidates are part of the so called 1%. The American people continue to engage in partisan name calling and bickering with each other and this is what the U.S. ends up with.

Meanwhile while partisan bicker with each other freedom is decimated on a daily basis in the U.S. The latest? Oklahoma police can now use a portable scanner to confiscate money from suspect's bank accounts if they suspect wrong doing - no trial - no conviction - they just take the money out!

How is this relevant? The system has divided Americans to the point where they are paying more attention to these 2 bottom of the barrel candidates than the fact that the so called 2 party system is systemically turning the U.S. into a police state.

But the problem is, who else? On either side of the political fence everyone else was horrible, dull, uninspiring and didn't catch the voters interest as these 2 politicians. The voters rejected everyone else. Both candidates are unpopular with a large majority, but popular among their core supporters. It's as good as it gets.

“The Clintons have turned the politics of personal enrichment into an art form for themselves,” Trump said Tuesday as he won the final five GOP primary elections. “They’ve made hundreds of millions of dollars selling access, selling favors, selling government contracts, and I mean hundreds of millions of dollars.”

This from the racist bigot who refuses to release his tax returns and attacks a Federal Judge based on race to hide Trump's fraud "Trump University" charged with stealing millions from 5,000 American Citizens.

Trump can be dressed up as a demagogue, but, the reality is very much worst.

A paranoiac, a narcissist, a delusional bigot, a confirmed racist, a coward who refuse to condemn Holocaust Denier David Duke to keep his white supremacists in the base Trump created with a five year campaign of racial hate in his 'birther campaign' was only topped by Trump's war on Disabled American Veterans at Trump Towers in New York

Trump will cry his victimhood but it is his racism and criminal record that will destroy the GOP-tea at Cleveland.

As one Republican Senator recently stated, it is Trump's racism that people of principle will refuse to associate with.

The dirty, dirty disgusting animal Trump appeals to is the animal we call hate and that animal will kill to preserve its prejudice because without its prejudice it ceases to be.

Survival of the bigotist isn't what America is about.

Given the Department’s current [Freedom of Information Act] workload and the complexity of these documents, it can process about 500 pages a month, meaning it would take approximately 16-and-2/3 years to complete the review of the Mills documents, 33-and-1/3 years to finish the review of the Sullivan documents, and 25 years to wrap up the review of the Kennedy documents — or 75 years in total,” the State Department said in the filing.

= The State Department is now claiming it will take 75 years to release the Hillary emails.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

It reflects desperation to step away, far away from Obama's policies from conservatives. On the liberal side of the parties Hillary is not the best choice and why the DNC stood behind her since day one is still baffling.

Trump is a mystery card and Clinton may be in jail. Third party vote, which I am, could allow Hillary in office if we all go that route.

2020 election promises to be exciting also. Bernie in his mid seventies now probably won't be a factor though another candidate may pick up his torch if Trump wins. Hillary will just dig USA deeper in debt and continue driving good paying jobs overseas.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

It is really going to be interesting to see who she gets to accept the VP position. Two women would be a guaranteed loser but it is also going to be very hard for HRC to nominate a white guy, even though it might be to her advantage in swing states. Most likely a young Hispanic guy. Democrats have painted themselves into a corner.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Clinton is spot on in all she says about Trump in the article.

We might even say, she's telling it like it is...

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Democrats have painted themselves into a corner.

Perhaps, I'm no fan of HRC. But the GOP has cemented itself into a basement of its very own making by pushing a candidate who - assuming you can believe a single thing he says - is alienating many US Americans while appealing to white nationalists plus other assorted alienated and angry nihilists, anarchists, the terminally angry and those intent on seeing the US system destroyed. He'll replace the system he wants to see broken with...? Once again, think about what Bush 43 did in Iraq. He wanted it broken and succeeded, but had no idea what to do next. How's that worked out? Is that what Republicans want?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Sadly it seems Bernie isnt running I guess I am voting Jill Stein or write down Bernies name on a paper and put that in a the box.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Your right Lizz, Hillary shouldn't go with a woman. My guess is a black man or maybe Hispanic.

PToewnend, the current head of state has done more damage to USA than you realize. You blame Bush for Iraq but let's not forget Hillary also supported the invasion. Obama supported the Arab Spring and we saw Egypt, Yemen and Syria utterly fail as a result. Egypt had sense enough to rectify the blunder. Obama and Hillary are directly responsible for Libya and the expansion of ISIS.

For me, I will vote out of my party for Trump. Hillary must not be POTUS!

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Hmmm, no praise for Trump's handling of the teleprompter? I wonder what is goig to flash on the screen next Monday when he says he will give a major speech about the Clintons. If he goes full bore conspiracy birther or obsessive with Bill's real or imagined decades old pecadillos (which Trump has never experienced of course), will most people start to like him? Say what you will, but Hillary can speak like a fairly normal person on command. Trump's teleprompter is his only hope to minimize the constant crazy talk.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Trump's use of language matches his character, a cheap ignorant bigot appealing to cheap ignorant bigots.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

The bottom line is that Hillary is amply qualified to be our next President and Donald Trump is not. He's a dangerous demagogue and con artist. I am all in for Hillary. Trump has no experience in any kind of government. Business is not government.

Trump is an orange-haired clown that puts on a good show at the circus but has no qualifications to be president other than his being obnoxious.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

It's a mean trick, but if you ever want to see a Trump supporter's jowls turn into a scowl, show them the guest list to Trump's third wedding.

Just for fun, who do you think got more 'action' in the 1980s, Bill in Arkansas or The Donald in NYC? Just going on population density and the multiple marriages, I am gonna go with the latter.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Another episode of the Pot calling the Kettle Black. It's the choice between evil authoritarian HRC or authoritarian DRT. Death by Blue pill or Death by Red pill.

Third party!

2 ( +6 / -4 )

I agree with Liz. A young cute white Latino politician

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Hillary may be qualified, but that doesn't mean she would be good as a president, she's already shown this as a Senator and Secretary of State where she did a horrible job. Highly unpopular and the country's had enough of an already tiring, polarizing and divisive president. The biggest problem with liberals is that, they seem to think the US is California, New York and Washington. The US is a large country and there are a lot of people living throughout the country that have opinions as well and a lot of them don't trust this charlatan. Robotic, cold and disconnected from the average American, the very last thing we need is another 4 years of failed policies and a woman that's been out of touch with the people for over 30 years.

Democrats call for probe into Donald Trump's donation to FL attorney general

[T]he Associated Press reported that Attorney General Pam Bondi personally solicited the $25,000 donation that came from a Trump family foundation, which apparently violated rules that bar charities from making political donations.

Bondi solicited the donation as her office debated whether to join a lawsuit against Trump University. After she received the check, she decided not to sue Trump.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/democrats-call-for-probe-into-donald-trumps-donation-to-fl-attorney-general/

3 ( +6 / -3 )

"But the problem is, who else? On either side of the political fence everyone else was horrible, dull, uninspiring and didn't catch the voters interest as these 2 politicians. The voters rejected everyone else."

I'd agree. The non-entities who appeared on the Democratic stage with Bernie and Hillary were amazingly bland while the large lineup on the GOP stage comprised of the dull, the revolting, the stupid, the theocratic, the disturbed and people who shouldn't have been allowed out of the isolation ward.

The US deserves better than a choice between Clinton and Trump.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

If Trump talks too much about Bill, it will show us how much he is living in the past--30 years sounds exactly right.

I know for sure we won't be hearing any sensible policy proposals. It would be a hoot if Trump vaulted the deep end and lashed out at, say, Rory McIlroy for his joke about jumping the border wall to go play the new PGA tour venue in Mexico City. Business mastermind Trump lost the tournament because his name is so toxic that no corporate sponsor could be found in an entire year.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

If Trump supporters are cheap ignorant bigots would that make Clinton supporters criminally inclined lazy imbeciles?

It can swing two directions kc. To assume all should believe what you believe is very shallow and boring.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

"If Trump supporters are cheap ignorant bigots would that make Clinton supporters criminally inclined lazy imbeciles?"

Poor comparison. Clinton voters vote for her despite her shadiness, not because of it. Many Trump voters vote for him precisely because he exites them with his trash-talk.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

@bass the country's had enough of

By 'country' do you mean your fellow white nationalists? They might make up 50% of the US white population, but that would make them a minority overall. The demographics of the US are changing; deal with it.

a woman that's been out of touch with the people for over 30 years. Perhaps, if the 'people' you're referring to are the white nationalists. Like Trump, she has helped the wealthiest, but unlike Trump, she has worked to try to build a more inclusive country - not try to further divide it.

I'll mirror you and deflect: whatabout Trump? When has he ever been 'in touch' with those outside the WASP business establishment? Currently, I'll give him credit for appealing to the angry and alienated whites (people he's always called losers) who for whatever reason have not been able to use their white privileges, those who think once he's dictator he'll save them from the messes many of them have made for themselves.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

That's an assumption Jimizo. I will vote for Trump as it looks today and I don't like some of his rhetoric. I do want secure borders otherwise why have passports? I do want good paying jobs back home. And I do want the debt clock reversing direction. The debt is our children's burden, I don't want that for the innocent younger generation. Hillary would not reverse the debt clock with her policies. Hillary will not secure the borders. Hillary does not know how to create jobs.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Unfortunately for the "shut up and vote as you are told" party, non-partisan, independent American voters like myself are not interested in having family dynasties occupy the White House; especially such a morally bankrupt, criminal one like the Clintons. Mrs. Bill Clinton will learn this inconvenient truth on the first Tuesday in November. . . .

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

"That's an assumption Jimizo"

I'm basing this on what I hear from many Trump supporters, some on this site. This trash-talk excites them. Many didn't accept that Trump could actually ban Muslims from entering the US but they liked the sentiment behind it. How many times have you heard that they like Trump's disdain for political correctness? I have no time for political correctness but that doesn't mean inflammatory statements should be admired.

Trump is very adept at grabbing headlines and winding up a particular crowd. Using what Paul Ryan called a an example of 'textbook racism' seems to be an effective strategy.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

America is now down to two candidates, Mrs. Bill Clinton and Mr. Trump. One is part of the political establishment and the other is not. Both abused the system but one admits it and says he will used what he learned to fix it. The other refuses to admit it, and she hides behind her lawyers and the media to pimp the will of the political business-as-usual establishment.

A vote for Mrs. Clinton tells the American political elite, "Wow, we got away with it once again, we do control the American people." As an independent voter, a vote for Mr. Trump says, we the voters are people and we the voters have had enough of being sold down the river by the establishment political elite and their enablers, the MSM. . . .

0 ( +6 / -6 )

By 'country' do you mean your fellow white nationalists? They might make up 50% of the US white population, but that would make them a minority overall. The demographics of the US are changing; deal with it.

Question- when did I EVER say, "I was White?" Also, Whites still make up the majority of the voting block, while true, the White population is dwindling, but you have to also understand, Trump has brought out White voters that have never voted or sat out and they are mobilizing in massive numbers, rural America, Blue collar workers, people that are tired of being PC, violent protesters that attack people for having an opinion, these are things as well as the issues of the middle class dwindling and the anger of demonizijg Whites for being White, you are seeing a backlash, so be careful what you wish for it. You guys need to deal with that.

a woman that's been out of touch with the people for over 30 years. Perhaps, if the 'people' you're referring to are the white nationalists.

No, sorry, I was referring to HRC.

Like Trump, she has helped the wealthiest, but unlike Trump, she has worked to try to build a more inclusive country - not try to further divide it.

Oh, yeah? How so?

I'll mirror you and deflect: whatabout Trump? When has he ever been 'in touch' with those outside the WASP business establishment?

Trump has created jobs as an employer and CEO of a corporation. Besides, scheming money from shady dictators to fund her questionable foundations, where she won't even make her speeches public. Transparent? Forgive me, her business dealings have been with a lot of people of different nationalities, countries and ethnic groups. So what has she done for her state, when did she sign a paycheck? What jobs has she personally created?

Currently, I'll give him credit for appealing to the angry and alienated whites (people he's always called losers) who for whatever reason have not been able to use their white privileges, those who think once he's dictator he'll save them from the messes many of them have made for themselves.

What exactly is White privilege? Also, the first Black president was pretty much a dictator, so that's acceptable?

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

@Texas A & M, real independents look outside the mainstream parties to people like Gary Johnson of the Libertarians. You've already written him off, or are you not as independent as you like to claim?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The only real choice this year?

Feel the Johnson!

Gary Johnson, Libertarian Party nominee. Why vote for someone who has 55%+ negative ratings when you can go for a two term governor with a solid background?

Let's put an end to this ridiculous two party system and show the powers that be that the People are taking back the power!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

@YeahRight,

He doesn`t care about the border issue.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@PTownsend,

I havent met a white male that feels they are above everyone else. In fact, nowadays its just the default setting to label a white male racist or xenophobic if they are doing well in life or hold a certain political belief or whatever. However, turn the table and a white male could never do such a thing, they probably wouldn`t anyway. Take advantage? Oh I see the game you play, sound bite statements that accuse white males of being amoral. If anything, the assault is on white males these days.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Patriotic Americans should be utterly ashamed of their country that out of 300 million they get Trump and Clinton to choose from.

Heh, back in '08 I was kind of feeling the same way about obama. But then there was the historical aspect of it -first 1/2 Black President. Never though I'd see it in my lifetime.

And do you think americans should be utterly ashamed of Bernie Sanders too? The guy fought long and hard . . . . how old is he 102? He deserves a pat on the back at least.

To think that this is the best that the US could come up with is totally demoralising

So are other leaders like A. Merkel, Abe, Sadiq Khan and pot-smoking, hippy-liberal Trudeau.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

@pointofview, Trump 'caring' about the border is a recent development. He used to spend more time talking about climate change than border issues.

Bass, Americans get asked their race every ten years for the census. Did you put the same answer every time or have you evolved on this issue? Fess up time for the international non gendered mystery person (didn't want to get berated for assuming manhood).

3 ( +5 / -2 )

"I havent met a white male that feels they are above everyone else."

I find that hard to believe. I've met loads in many places. Try South Carolina. Twenty percent of Trump voters there think the abolition of slavery was a mistake. I know people love to say "But can you really prove someone is racist?" but I'll stick my neck out here and say these people are probably racists.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

@bass This is the reason why I always play devils advocate.

If you read what you post, you should be able to see you always 'play' right wing reactionary. And white nationalist.

@bass Why is it bad to be a White nationalist, but it's perfectly acceptable to be a Hispanic or Black nationalist?

If you were 'fair' you'd be able or at least willing to see that Hispanics and Blacks are fighting against white imposed institutional racism, and white nationalists are fighting to maintain it.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

feeling the same way about obama..... do you think americans should be utterly ashamed of Bernie Sanders too? ....So are other leaders like A. Merkel,,,,,,

Oh dear, it seems that Bass4funkism is infectious!

when we talk about Bill Clinton's facted based proof of his past sexual indiscretions, No big deal and don't even think about asking Chelsea-off limits!

Sorry, but you cannot see that asking a daughter about her father's sex habits is totally beyond the pale regardless of who the father is? The idea that anyone would even think of it is mind-bogglingly weird. Would you like people asking your daughter (assuming you have one) about your sex life (assuming you have one)?

I always play devils advocate

It's almost funny.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

bass: Whites for being White, you are seeing a backlash, so be careful what you wish for it. You guys need to deal with that.

Can you go into more detail about this?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

If you read what you post, you should be able to see you always 'play' right wing reactionary. And white nationalist.

Only in the case, liberal hypocrisy is thrown in and that's pretty much the majority of the time.

If you were 'fair' you'd be able or at least willing to see that Hispanics and Blacks are fighting against white imposed institutional racism, and white nationalists are fighting to maintain it.

I am and I do, but I also see, Whites being attacked on every little comment, we are all in this NON-White racism is equally as bad as White racism.

But when they did to Ivanka, that's ok? Please... We shouldn't standards for one person and different set of standards for others! If you are going to ask alleged allegations about Trump and go to his daughter asking questions, then reaching out to Chlsea should be equally as far.

It's almost funny.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Personality is important only insofar as it affects policy judgement. Ryan endorsed Trump precisely because of the assumption that a Trump presidency would rubber-stamp Ryan's agenda - one I vehemently oppose. In other words, a vote for Trump is a vote for the Ryan agenda instituted under the guise of an unstable septuagenarian.

Sanders has pulled Clinton to the left - a good thing, in my opinion. A Clinton presidency will now be required to listen more closely to those like Warren in regards to issues such as minimum wage, environmental regulation, and financial reform. Ironically, though inherently more conservative than Obama, Clinton's presidency may turn out to be more liberal - kind of a "Nixon to China" thing.

Anyway, it's pretty much all over now, result-wise; we'll have to go through the drama of Sanders conceding and the soap opera of whatever happens to Trump, but Hillary Clinton will be elected the next president.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

But when they did to Ivanka, that's ok?

When did anyone ask Ivanka about Duckie's sex life? I must have missed that. But No, asking any daughter about her father's sex life is a no-no. It's also a no-no for a father to bring up sex and his cravings for his daughter, in public, and in front of her (or let's face it, anywhere ... normal Dads just don't fancy their daughters. And if they do, they keep quiet about it. And seek treatment. Or counselling.)

@PTownsend,

If you were 'fair' you'd be able or at least willing to see that Hispanics and Blacks are fighting against white imposed institutional racism, and white nationalists are fighting to maintain it.

Proof please. It`s 2016 not 1950. Sounds like your argument will last an eternity until the white male becomes the crap under a shoe.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Bring on the wild eyed conspiracies. It must have been a left wing plot that cost successful white TV personality Bill O'Reilly custody of his own children. Liberals brainwashed black GOP senator Tim Scott into calling Trump 'racially toxic.' StopTrump was set up by RINO double crossers.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Anyway, it's pretty much all over now, result-wise; we'll have to go through the drama of Sanders conceding and the soap opera of whatever happens to Trump, but Hillary Clinton will be elected the next president.

Yep. Too bad for Bernie, but he put up a good fight, and he showed that his policies appeal to a lot of people who are sick of the status quo. But now it's Hillary's time, and she'll be a fine president herself.

Proof please. It`s 2016 not 1950. Sounds like your argument will last an eternity until the white male becomes the crap under a shoe.

It's interesting - equality to many white people means that they have become crap under someone's shoe. Which isn't necessarily wrong - if you bring white people down to where minorities are now. But it would be better to bring minorities up to where white people are now.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

"To think that this is the best that the US could come up with is totally demoralizing"

"So are other leaders like A. Merkel, Abe, Sadiq Khan and pot-smoking, hippy-liberal Trudeau."

I can understand why you included Merkel and Abe. They've been in power long enough to rub many people up the wrong way and I know you despise pot-smokers. Sadiq Khan? Why would you criticise a man who has barely got his feet under the desk? Oh, hang on....Trump....Muslims.

Incidentally, you do know that magnanimous Donald said he would allow Khan into the US. Is that a bit too liberal or too much of a security risk for you?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

He probably does behave like a demagogue, but this accusation coming from Hillary Clinton..... really now. Pot . kettle - black.!

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

"Hillary Clinton opened her general election campaign against Donald Trump on Wednesday"

Heh, she still has a fight against Sanders at the convention in Philadelphia and another fight against the FBI.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I have a sincere question. Who do you think would stack up the most corpses as a result of foreign policy decisions Clinton or Trump?

The hawks on this site despise Clinton but I'm sure she'll satisfy their bloodlust. Trump talks tough but I can't take anything he says seriously.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Proof please. It`s 2016 not 1950.

Okay. Trump University is currently facing three lawsuits, one centered in New York by their Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. Imagine how this conversation would be received:

I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump. A hater. He's a hater. His name is Eric Schneiderman. The judge - who happens to be, we believe, German, which is great. I think that's fine. You know what? I think the Germans are going to end up loving Donald Trump when I give all these jobs. OK? ... I'm telling you, this court system, judges in this court system, federal court, they ought to look into Judge Schneiderman. Because what Judge Schneiderman is doing is a total disgrace, OK? I think it has to do perhaps with the fact that I'm very, very strong on making Germany pay more for America to defend it, very, very strong at the NATO issue. He has been extremely hostile to me. There's a hostility toward me by the judge -- tremendous hostility -- beyond belief. I believe he happens to be German, which is fine. He's Germanic -- which is fine.

Actual quotes; the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Wow...Looks like somebody learned a new word yesterday and couldn't wait to use it today.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

@Laguna,

Trump has a legitimate reason to worry about the judges bias and by the way Mexican isn`t a race. As I said before turn the situation around and slag off the white male judge and everything would be fine. You left wingers like your double standards.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

I am aware that "Mexican" is not a race - I am from Southern California, after all. This is why census questionnaires include the option "Hispanic white." My point is that, while progress has been made - you can substitute most any European nationality in Trump's quote I gave above and it would sound equally ridiculous today but would have been quite sensible in our grandparents' age - racism and discrimination still exist for certain segments of society. That Trump is susceptible to these prejudices is alarming, and that he expressed them should be disqualifying.

Now, what potential bias were you talking about? Is it due to the judge's parents?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

" racism and discrimination still exist for certain segments of society. That Trump is susceptible to these prejudices "

This "racism" accusation if funny. in this case... havent the media been telling us for months that all the Mexicans hate Trump? And now they are all up in arms because he suggests that one Mexican hates him.

So which is it, media believers.... do the Mexicans hate him, or not? Seems to me he is just taking you by your word.

(And by the way, the judge in question is an activist for "la razza", meaning "the race", so what do you make of that ?)

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

@Laguna.

You are completely avoiding the real issues and concerns by Trump. You just can`t get past the race card.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Clinton says Trump behaving like a demagogue

But look how the Hillary supporters behave like. Ohwell, justice is being served in Fresno, CA.

Jimizo:

" I have a sincere question. Who do you think would stack up the most corpses as a result of foreign policy decisions Clinton or Trump? "

Clinton, hands down. That alone would determine my vote, if I was American.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

When did anyone ask Ivanka about Duckie's sex life?

Recently.

http://nytlive.nytimes.com/womenintheworld/2016/04/13/ivanka-trump-defends-her-father-against-allegations-of-misogyny/

I agree. If the allegations are true then it's a very bad thing, really bad thing! But so far as it stands, these are just allegations and no one knows for sure.

I have a sincere question. Who do you think would stack up the most corpses as a result of foreign policy decisions Clinton or Trump?

Let's see, Clinton would probably be a pacifist like Obama or as we saw in Egypt and Libya what a mess she made, including the lies and cover ups on Benghazi, I would have to say, Hillary Clinton probably would.

The hawks on this site despise Clinton but I'm sure she'll satisfy their bloodlust.

Don't be too sure.

Trump talks tough but I can't take anything he says seriously

As if anyone takes Clinton seriously! Lol

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

@zaphod, get it right, the judge is AMERICAN, not Mexican. There is no law against membership in the student activism group La Raza, just like George Bush is free to be an alumni of the Skull and Bones secret society. But the # 1 mistake you made was thinking Trump is not a media believer. He follows polls religiously, and allowed the Washington Post to shame him into cutting a check for the veterans half a year after the fundraiser.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

"Trump talks tough but I can't take anything he says seriously"

"As if anyone takes Clinton seriously! Lol"

What in the name of "flandering" Clintons are you ROLFing about now?

Clinton voted for the Iraq bloidbath. I take that very seriously. Trump's supposed opposition to it looks a bit dodgy. He also has memories of huge numbers of Muslims dancing on 7/11.

As I said, I can't take anything he says seriously. Clinton's vote is on the record.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Donald Trump could be a snake and the people know it. Crooked Hillary IS a snake, yet the people want to believe otherwise. The left has nowhere to go. I fear for the U.S. if the crooked one is elected as the next President. She doesn't even come close to Obama. At least Obama was a charismatic and intelligent communicator and politician. He kept to her in the Whitehouse to further his agenda, not because of her qualifications. She was a horrible secretary of state......yet once again the people want to believe otherwise.

Given her record, all the more reason not to trust her. You just made my point for me.

When did I say I trusted her?

Aren't you one of the few sentient beings left on the planet who still thinks that her vote was the right thing to do? I wouldn't get too disheartened if she wins. You could be on for lots of cool missile footage on Fox. You'll be able to dust off your "bulls and horns" line.

Zaphod:

havent the media been telling us for months that all the Mexicans hate Trump?

and pointofview

You are completely avoiding the real issues and concerns by Trump. You just can`t get past the race card.

Your comments are related. Yes, it is true that, as a demographic, Hispanics are not particularly fond of Trump. This is very different from saying, though, that any individual Hispanic dislikes Trump. It is also very different from saying that Hispanics are incapable of acting professionally without anti-Trump bias.

In fact, it is Trump who is trying to have it both ways. On one hand, he boasts of the large number of Hispanics his companies employ and how they love him - the former is certainly true, the latter more open to judgement - and then he turns around and says this one particular Hispanic must by definition be biased against him solely because he is Hispanic. Which is it, Donald?

In the end, it doesn't matter because under the American system, no one, not even a sitting president (much less a nominee-apparent) can second-guess a judge without going through due process, and precedent shows that ethnicity by itself is completely insufficient. I'd posted to this Atlantic article before; read it if you haven't had a chance. Trump is doing his darnedest to shut himself up about the issue not because he's won and not because he's changed his mind but because someone apparently sat him down and explained that continuing on this foolish course would not only be futile, it would be very, very damaging. We'll see if he's able to contain himself.

Interesting change in name calling on the part of Clinton. It certainly invites opinions and commentaries.

Has anyone looked at news articles being shown or printed in other parts of the world?

Almost every web news sites that I can access in English (British, German, Italian, Swedish, etc. including most Japanese stations and newspapers), have taken up the so called "idealistic", "high principled", "progressive", extremely "liberal" points of views being touted by Clinton with Military action toward ISIS as being the only acceptable view. While I do not have any right to say if that is right or wrong, I can say that the world opinion is being "biased" by the media toward the old status quo concept with Trump as being a person that is "unpredictable" and "unsafe" and "dangerous" therefore to be "feared" and therefore "undesirable".

I hope all of you can start reading the worldwide media and give us some perspective as to how they are responding to these outbursts by both candidates.

What say you?

When did anyone ask Ivanka about Duckie's sex life?

Recently.

The link you give is to an article describing an interview on CNN in which Ivanka Trump spoke out against critics who label her father as a misogynist. She talks about him employing women in executive posts, of him encouraging her and her sister to pursue their ambitions. No mention of her father's sex life, no suggestion that anyone conducting the interview mentioned his sex life.

So, When did anyone ask Ivanka about Duckie's sex life?

so far as it stands, these are just allegations and no one knows for sure

Allegations that Duckie has said in public that he fancies his own daughter? That the thing he has in common with her is, and I quote, 'Sex'? Those aren't allegations, they're on video, recorded for posterity and standing all over the Web. Or are you thinking of different 'allegations'? Like the unsubstantiated allegation you made that someone asked Ivanka Trump about her father's sex life?

The point is, any question about alleged sexual impropriety on Trump's part is left to speculate and in finding answers, let us interview Ivanaka, Questioning Chelsea is basically off limits. There is No way, whatever the question is regarding her skirt chasing father that she'll sit down and talk about it. Point is, there is a double standard when it comes to the media.

No about the media playing a double standard role when it comes to how they treat someone that's conservative over someone that's liberal.

Aren't you one of the few sentient beings left on the planet who still thinks that her vote was the right thing to do?

No, I think there are a lot of people that think for once in her life, she made the right decision at that time.

Hillary is now concentrating on arguing with Trump even though Sanders is claiming he knows Math and he will get Clinton's super delegates' mind changes to him. I think Hillary already did Arithmetic.

Today, Obama will talk with Sanders And then Harry Reid will talk with Sanders. Hope Reid can convince Sanders to give up, but it will be difficult. Reid is a Dem member but Sanders is Independent.

http://gawker.com/does-donald-trump-want-to-have-sex-with-his-daughter-1756738294

The article and (heavily edited) video is short and weak, but the video says nothing about Donald Trump wanting to have sexual intercourse with his daughter. He is on a Woman's show and makes a gender joke with "sex" in it. "The most common thing I have in common with Ivanka is "sex." Ivanka has made him a better (more feminine) person catering to the audience of Women.

https://youtu.be/Vc0k1CMl6_o (Forbes interview Ivanka, Don JR)

https://youtu.be/YbrGUipawck

It is pretty low attacking a Woman that just had her second child with very very weak allegations that she had "sex" (sexual intercourse) with her Father. What are your exact claims you are trying to make here and do you intend to stand behind said claims? Remember "Gawker" go sued by Hulk Hogan for millions and lost = financially they are in trouble.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Clinton, hands down. That alone would determine my vote, if I was American.

It is a total no brainer. Trump is putting his business empire, reputation, fortune, ego everything he has worked for in his life on the line for this bid. Clinton is facing continued legal investigation and most likely a long prison term if she loses. That is pretty much all you need to know.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Zaphod,

He probably does behave like a demagogue, but this accusation coming from Hillary Clinton..... really now. Pot . kettle - black.!

Wow. You don't even know what the word "demagogue" means, do you? And yet you still try to use it as a way to disparage Clinton.

Sad. Pathetic and sad.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Trump is the next POTUS!

Get used to it!

1 ( +6 / -5 )

The point is, any question about alleged sexual impropriety on Trump's part is left to speculate and in finding answers, let us interview Ivanaka

You don't know the difference between misogyny (dislike of, contempt for or ingrained prejudice against women, as in not giving a woman a job or an education because she's a woman) and sexual impropriety (improper sexual behaviour, as in putting what you shouldn't where you shouldn't when you shouldn't)?

There is No way, whatever the question is regarding her skirt chasing father that she'll sit down and talk about it

And why should she?

about the media playing a double standard role when it comes to how they treat someone that's conservative over someone that's liberal

Well that's strange because you're the one making that allegation in this very thread, and you say that these are just allegations and no one knows for sure. So you're spouting here stuff that you know is unsubstantiated? And you're a journalist? Do you throw all your professional journalist's instincts out of the window when you log on to JT?

Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome the Demagogue to the Right and the Charlatan to the left. Good luck.

...Trump as being a person that is "unpredictable" and "unsafe" and "dangerous" therefore to be "feared" and therefore "undesirable".

Well, Kazetsukai, you might consider this one answer Trump gave when asked if he'd use nuclear weapons in Syria:

Well, I'm never gonna rule anything out. And I wouldn't wanna say. Even if I felt -- it wasn't going -- I wouldn't wanna tell you that because, at a minimum, I want them to think maybe that we would use it. The fact is that we need unpredictability, When you ask a question like that, it's a very - it is a very sad thing to have to answer it because the enemy is watching and I have a very good chance of winning. I frankly don't want the enemy to know how I'm thinking. But with that being said, I don't rule out anything.

Remember, this is in response to the use of nuclear weapons in Syria. Since the end of WWII, the general consensus has been that the US would reserve nuclear weapons for only existential threats - but here Trump is offering an entirely different scenario. Now, I understand the usage of "strategic ambiguity," but this concept does not cover the usage of nuclear weapons: once other powers figure America might use them all willy-nilly, that eliminates global restraint. As such, I would apply each and every of the adjectives you used above to this particular Trump position.

This is just one example; others include discarding Geneva Treaty provisions in terms of torture.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

And why should she?

Exactly! The same standard should apply to Ivanka as well or any child of a politician, but since they are not children, then it's actually fair game on both sides.

Well that's strange because you're the one making that allegation in this very thread, and you say that these are just allegations and no one knows for sure.

No, what I am saying is, I think the same standard should be applied to the children of either candidates, Clinton we already know what the sexual predator in chief did, Trump we don't know, in any case. If they want to drag his name through the mud, let's be fair and take a look at Clinton's new fling as well.

So you're spouting here stuff that you know is unsubstantiated? And you're a journalist? Do you throw all your professional journalist's instincts out of the window when you log on to JT?

Trying hard again with the personal attacks?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Ha ha. Funny to have been thumbed down. The only acceptable response to "will the US use nuclear weapons?" is

No. Never, except if the US is under existential threat. The US possesses sufficient conventional power to deter and defeat all non-nuclear conflicts.

Answering otherwise only plays into the hands of nuclear proliferate states such as Iran. Is that too difficult to understand? (Well, for Trump it clearly is, but for normal people, this should't be too difficult.)

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The same standard should apply to Ivanka as well

Ivanka made the decision to do the interview and to allow it to be broadcast. She could have just said no. The same does apply to anyone.

Trump we don't know

Yes we do. He's all over the Internet insulting women he considers unattractive, saying what he has in common with his daughter is Sex, making comments about her body and saying if she weren't his daughter he'd be dating her. So what is it that you think we 'don't know'? What exactly is 'unsubstantiated'?

Trying hard again with the personal attacks?

No, trying hard to make some sense out of ramblings that are all over the place, that I find very hard to believe a professional writer could have written.

The world can understand the predicament America finds itself. Trying to find a replacement for Obama is a hard task. After the high class he has introduced into the office with his character. We will miss him.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Clinton's main problem is she's part of the corrupt system where you take millions of dollars and then you do what the millionaires told you to do.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

"After the high class he has introduced into the office with his character. We will miss him."

Very true. An intelligent and articulate man who restored some dignity and respect to the office after the damage done by the appalling clown who preceded him.

The GOP will not stand for such dignified and statesmanlike figures. This year's vintage crop of headcases included a half-human, half-lizard theocrat along with the usual religious headbangers and was led by a knob joke-cracking rabble-rouser.

Obama will be missed.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

After the high class he has introduced into the office with his character.

Heh. The irony in that, is how Bill Clinton's low-class shamed the office with his character.

change, I appreciate your sentiment. For the chief executive, a key characteristic is empathy: the recognition that the goals and consequent motivations may well differ widely from one's own and the ability to act accordingly so that each side can come out ahead. In other words, this is an ability to understand that life is not a zero-sum game. This is crucial for international relations as well as for guiding domestic policy, particularly in times of divided government.

Obama has been unparalleled at this skill. Clinton displays promise (though it is an area of concern). Trump is pathological in his inability to empathize. This is related to my points above. Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson established the no-nuke use precedent; even Nixon's "Madman theory" was clearly a feint. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madman_theory The idea that Trump - of all people - could blithely toss out over a half-century of a cornerstone of American foreign policy beggars belief.

It does dovetail with his cavalier attitude towards international treaties in general, such as the Geneva Conventions that I'd mentioned above but expanding to most every international agreement America has been a part of to create the world as we know it now. From NATO to the Kyoto Protocol, Trump clearly is of the view that he can unilaterally renegotiate things to his liking. Perhaps he had the same view of his marriages, thus explaining his two divorces and final marriage to a woman who depended on him for her spouse visa. That attitude results in a very messy domestic life; it would result in a truly disastrous presidency.

Fortunately, the world will never be inflicted with Trumpian "what ifs". The man is toast.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

For the chief executive, a key characteristic is empathy

I agree, but you're too empathetic other will see it as a weakness. And before you know it, there you are giving "deals" and making concessions with mullahs, while they're stabbing you in the back.

Julius Caesar's assassins are referred to as, "Honorable Men."

Wc, notice that the Clintons are still married. My wife and I have been married almost 25 years and have raised two kids - times were I wondered if we could survive as a couple with the pressures of it all - but we both possess the maturity to look past short-term shortcomings to focus on long-term aspirations - and here we are, through the thickets and very happy together. I imagine the Clintons faced similar challenges but have settled upon similar contentment. Seems Trump is determined to drag up the mistakes of (particularly Bill's) past. That would seem to be a mistake to me. "Until death do us part" still has meaning to a large segment of American - particularly Republican - society.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Julius Caesar's assassins are referred to as, "Honorable Men." So are PP shooters. Now there might be more PP shootings due to the stupidity of Marsha Blackburn making PP employee names public. Conservatives always shoot their opponents and point guns at government officials like Bundies. Conservatives have parties when PP clinics are attacked. Conservatives hope for PP clinics to be attacked and the employees of these clinics killed.

What will be brought up are these Conservative shootings against PP and the Conservative bundies aiming their high powered guns at government officials.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Yeah, Trump won't be able to help himself, and Hillary (and Bill) are expecting it. Trump will be rehashing decades-old indiscretions from a completely untenable standpoint while Clinton will be discussing the future and how unsuitable Trump is to guide us there. Predictable. How do you think that's gonna go?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How do you think that's gonna go?

I don't know but I got my popcorn ready. On the other hand, however unsuitable Trump is, he certainly raised eyebrows and stirred the shit-storm. 10 months ago, everyone would've been laffing their asses off if somebody said Trump would get this far.

"I'm mystified why either camp would want to highlight the others sexual predilections. Stones and glass houses?"

I think most people are grown up about this. The religious headcases, hypocrites and partisans will make a big deal about it. Clinton left office with the highest approval ratings of any postwar president despite his shenanigans and rightly so. A supremely gifted politician.

Looking at Hillary and Trump, how great would it be to have a candidate even approaching half the quality of Bill Clinton?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Ivanka made the decision to do the interview and to allow it to be broadcast. She could have just said no. The same does apply to anyone.

When Chelsea had her 15 minutes of fame at NBC, most of the Journalists had strict instructions to not associate with her too much and give her enough privacy, I keep forgetting, the Clinton's are royalty (if you consider Fools Gold authentically real!

Yes we do.

No, we don not know if Trump is guilty of these accusations that were said about him and his daughter for one thing and if you want to make the case that Trump insults women and is some sort of uncontrollable animal with the urge to demean women, then you need look no further to the granddaddy of all the pedophiles and womanizers and that Bubba himself. The nice thing about this election, since Hillary is running and she's married to Bill, Trump can definitely and hopefully attack both of them should they bring up his misogyny remarks, Trump can unleash a hailstorm on Bubba about his adventures with "Jeffrey Epstein."

He's all over the Internet insulting women he considers unattractive, saying what he has in common with his daughter is Sex, making comments about her body and saying if she weren't his daughter he'd be dating her. So what is it that you think we 'don't know'? What exactly is 'unsubstantiated'?

I'm saying the comments were appropriate, quite the opposite, they are pretty bad, but I am not a shrink and I won't say what he was thinking or why he said it the way he did, but if his daughter (an adult and very smart) can say unequivocally that there is nothing to the story or it was taken way out of context, why would I NOT give her the benefit of a doubt. Also, Trump making verbal insults is not the same or even in the same category as Clinton foundling women and taking sexual advantage of them and there are a lot of woman that have testified about that.

Obama will be missed.

And many, many more will be elated once he's a fleeting memory!

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Agreed, Wcv- popcorn time - but for a movie whose conclusion is obvious. The only question is what actions occur on the way to the inevitable.

Inevitable? Maybe so. I just hope Sanders keeps fighting. He's hoping Hillary will be indicted by the FBI huh-

But I don't think the media will do a 180 on Hillary and plus she's got connections throughout the US gov. If the feds have any "real" dirt on Hillary . . . . she could pay them to bury it.

The nice thing about this election, since Hillary is running and she's married to Bill, Trump can definitely and hopefully attack both of them should they bring up his misogyny remarks, Trump can unleash a hailstorm on Bubba about his adventures with "Jeffrey Epstein."

I though free elections meant just "that." That you can peacefully and lawfully assemble without fear, intimidation and being assaulted or chased away.

What's best for the country, for one thing, not having all these illegal immigrants and their hooligan' kids snapping their fingers at America for this, that, citizenship, education, free lunches, medical care, drivers licenses & free stuff. The American people should come 1st.

The article wanders into the Trump garden of hate and the comments walk out with baskets of ideas about sex and justifications.

Backing up to the topic; what the GOP-tea has in Donald J. Trump is worst than a cancer.

It seems what Trump has is supporters who are ready to drag the GOP-tea into a political suicide of pairing Republicanism with racism in a bond that will last well beyond this election cycle.

House Speaker Ryan, Ryan calls text-book racism, cannot appear next to Trump because of the zombie hate Trump, recreated when he ate the braaain of the GOP-tea and then regurgitated in the vomit of racism and religious prejudice not seen since the darkest days of the 1960s.

The Republican Party knows the geography of that cliff well and it always ends badly.

Lord knows the Cleveland Convention is teetering on that edge no matter what the most racist supporters claim to believe about their right to promote hate through their allegiance to Donald J. Trump and Trump's campaign crested in the laboratory of talk radio, David Duke's Holocaust Denier podcasts and FOXNews' Trump call-ins.

No matter. The reader well remembers Trump himself administering oaths of allegiance to Donald J. Trump and the bigot brigade pledging to hate people for their race, their religion and their gender.

Those clips will be featured for the next 145 days. (How much the GOP-tea wants to be featured in those clips is their greatest cause for concern.)

Secretary Clinton, President Obama and Senator Sanders have bigger fish to fry than the carcass of hate Trump reenergized with the 'birther campaign'.

The zombie Trump Army will march and Cleveland will be the last stand of hate.

No Republican will be left standing next to the Pied Piper of Hate Donald J. Trump has become because that ends the disaster they themselves unleashed with their own destruction. The zombie Trump Army will eat the last living vestige of the Republican Party in a gruesome display of cannibalism on the funeral pyre of Hate Trump has set light to.

Too bad. Just when the Republicans were getting so close to world damnation Bush and Cheney tried so hard to make a decent buck from. Trump's goal was hardly different so some of the GOP-tea will still keep hope alive, in zombie form, of course.

Clinton is now counting on the president to help bring those voters on board. Obama has said he’s “fired up” and ready to get started. - Japan Today, June 10, 2016

The GOP-tea and Donald J. Trump's five year campaign of racial hatred in Trump's 'birther campaign' is finally going to catch a fire.

President Obama's dignity in the face of racist attack, the prejudice of Donald J. Trump and the energy of a cause founded in the suffering of millions of Americans epitomized by the murder of Doctor King will render some of the greatest speeches and moments of inspiration since April 4, 1968.

Trump has achieved nothing except a self promotion based on hatred.

Elizabeth Warren is now yelling about Trump. She declared she will support Clinton but I don't think she will be chosen as VP. Hillary will choose some one who understand Foreign policy. Not Sanders either. Unlike foreign countries, USA politicians don't need to know any foreign language. She probably choose a male.

Trump will be GOP nominee so GOP should coach him how to behave like a dignitary as he has to face Queens and foreign dignitary. And stop barking. We don't want some country gets big idea and imitate Japan to start WWIII.

@kcjapan,

Mexican is not a race. Do you understand racism?

Here`s an example. Take a look at this comment made by current supreme court justice Sotomayor (female and hispanic ethnicity)

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,”

Apparently ok if you are not a white male.

Good grief, what have have you been smoking? A "five year" campaign? Five years ago, nobody imagined a Trump candidacy. Do do some reading before posting. Even a year ago, the guy was considered a non-entity in politics. And where do you get that "birther" stuff from? I can not see any reference to that anywhere, afaic, Trump never addressed that issue. You really might want to do some reality check before posting.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

One poster seems bent on addressing another with, what most may agree, is a prejudiced reference of the Japanese People. It has not been removed.

However, by either ignorance or prejudice, they seem to taunt that Donald J. Trump is some nice fellow.

Let them read a brief article entitled: "Donald Trump Is a Bigot and a Racist". Perhaps they will consider, or Japan Today will, that taunting someone for their heritage isn't part of the purpose and value of these pages.

They can read Donald Trump Is a Bigot and a Racist, it is found at: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/donald-trump-is-a-bigot-and-a-racist/2015/12/01/a2a47b96-9872-11e5-8917-653b65c809eb_story.html

While the commenter's seeming angry reaction to truth includes an attack on heritage, by using a term that is truly insulting, perhaps it should be kept with a note that hatred, in language, in thought and in action is well displayed in their post. They are, in their ignorant hate, a better for what Donald J.Trump is trying to achieve than in the act of removing the comment.

That is lesson enough of what racism is and what it leads some to think, say and do.

Even in Dana Milibrands fanatical opinion piece which you quote, I can not see any evidence that either Trump has been on a "five year campaign of racial hatred" or that he is interested in the "birther" brouhaha. The continued justifications of Donald J. Trump's racism are understandable.

Racists are very concerned their candidate won't bring his agenda of Hate to the White House.

For international readers, who reference the cited article: "Donald Trump Is a Bigot and a Racist", they will read the specific and detailed promotion of racism and prejudice Donald J. Trump built a campaign of Hate on.

For others, seeking more information, the search: "Trump Racist David Duke" will find some further illustrations.

Far from fictions, these articles present the ugly picture of a degenerate group of bigots who want Trump's racism as national policy in the States.

Chirping Tweets isn't the basis for rational decision making, but that is the tactic Trump's Thumpers use to enforce Trump's Dictatorship of Hate.

All very instructive in the techniques of Donald J. Trump's campaign of 'birther racism' since 2011 and likely the foundation of Secretary Clinton's critique of Donald J. Trump's demagoguery.

Read it and weep, not for what it reveals, but for those who crave Hate over reason and vote Trump and then pretend they, and only they, have a grip on the truth. Trump has taught them hate and they know nothing but.

I read your referenced article, and I do not see any evidence for your claims that a) Trump has been on a 5 year campaign "racism" or b) that he is particular interested in "birther" issue.

How about doing some fact-checking before making grand claims?
