When Kerry's mouth talk the world must say: Amen!

SimondB:

" Yup, sounds like Guantanamo alright. "

Let me get this right: You are claiming that Guantanamo houses 3 generations of Americans accused of insulting the American Government, or Obama in person? Because that would the equiivalent.

Are you seriously claiming that?

How can anyone compare NK Gulags with Gitmo?

One houses civilians who are mistreated and innocent of nothing but living while the other houses terrorists mongrels who would love nothing more than to hurt or kill every civilian in the west.

There is probably more of a need for Gitmo type places now more than ever, look at those black flag waving mad dogs in Iraq and Syria to see candidates.

@SimondB Don't make me laugh. No US citizens in Guantanamo. 38 that we can't prosecute because of GW's screwups. 78 that are ready to go but no one wants them. Some 22 others that still need to be tried I guess. Still, different by orders of magnitude from what China and NK have going on.

But.. we have the highest prison population in the world...

bass4funk,

Guantanamo are terrorists and Jihadists and people having ties to these radical Islamist groups

How many Gitmo inmates have been declared innocent years ago, yet still languish there?

Bwah-ha-ha! The pot calling the kettle black! The hypocrisy is thick in the air.

North Korea, anyone that is against the state or people being suspected of doing ANYthing wrong,

Yup, sounds like Guantanamo alright.

Not even close to being the same thing.

Here come the "war on terror" apologists. Everything the US does to propagate the war on terror is A-OK as long as some grim-faced general tells you it's absolutely necessary for security.

Of course, North Korean officials think their prison camps are absolutely necessary for security as well.

I would like to add that China is a disgraceful country even for allowing this to go on.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Perhaps Secretary Kerry could set a good example by closing Guantanamo Bay.

Not even close to being the same thing. Guantanamo are terrorists and Jihadists and people having ties to these radical Islamist groups. North Korea, anyone that is against the state or people being suspected of doing ANYthing wrong, a threat or maybe having a radio, a DVD player or a suspect in possibly wanting to overthrow the government and on and on. Some people were born in the camps. You have 3 generations of people that were born and raised there.

@Wolfpack Except that nothing happens without funding. You must agree that Congress denying the funds is at least as synical as Obama not declaring it by fiat. If that is even possible.

@scipantheist

Seriously, though, it is the 'pubs that like Guantanamo Bay and keep it open

Except that Obama could close Guantanamo with the stroke of a pen. He could just release all the prisoners. He has an option he just will not use the option available to him.

@SimondB alol. Seriously, though, it is the 'pubs that like Guantanamo Bay and keep it open.

Perhaps Secretary Kerry could set a good example by closing Guantanamo Bay.
