Good for Colorado. That tax money will be put towards education. In these days of weakening infrastructure and education spending cuts, Colorado is leading the way towards a better future.

Romeo is so far from the truth it almost looks like he's being intentionally satirical.

A sad state of affairs in Colorado when it accepts blood money from proceeds from a gateway drug/poison that has killed hundreds of thousands of people.

If you are talking about the tax dollars collected from the sale of alcohol then you are making a good point.

But if you are talking about cannabis at best you sound ill informed, at worst you sound just plain stupid.

You don't actually believe such tripe, do you? Were you forced to watch "Reefer Madness" on a daily basis?

Not only should usage be fully legalized, but cultivation for personal use should also be legalized. Most would probably choose to buy it and pay the crazy taxes anyway.

The other day I read a compelling article about Minnesota's police beaurocrats trying to prevent a movement to legalize pot.

The underlying reason cited was that police confiscate a lot of property in drug busts which amount to disposable income for their departments. Basically stated "Don't legalize pot so we can write tickets and take property to make money."

Meanwhile in Colorado, the state income from pot exceeds $2 million in the first month and now the Colorado police want a piece of that money too. Which actually seems appropriate, police need a little extra help enforcing a newly legal controlled substance. So of course they should receive some of the cash!

My thoughts: You can pull over stoned teenagers, take their property and impound their cars. Or you can get the revenue voluntarily from people who purchase pot legally, via taxation. The financial end result may in fact be the same, but with a lot less mislead youth getting involved in dealing drugs. Just to name a few benefits.

Weed will save the States.

Meanwhile, the pot shops are sitting on those millions in hard cash because banks are afraid to take them in fearing they may go afoul of the law (since technically marijuana is still illegal in federal law).
