I don't think he was capable of planning ths or acted alone. This is looking more obvious all the time if thevreports at the time are read.

The article lacks several information that was reported in the news here in Aurora. He had taken several surveilance photos of the theater and it's exits. He purchased his movie ticket almost 2 weeks before. His plans to divert police to his apartment was by having programmed his computer to play music very loud to draw out neighbors at his apartment complex, left a bag out with a remote controlled car that was rigged with an explosive in hopes that someone would play with it.

@Tom DeMicke - I agree, I wish the trial would just get going. However, it is already being reported here that it most likely won't happen in 2013.

One thing that stood out was when he exited the theater after his stupidity and the Aurora police had him surrounded with guns pointing at him was he crazy enough to start shooting? No, he dropped his weapons cos he knew he would have been shot to death. So yeah he's not as crazy as he'd like people to think.

Get this trial underway already and put him away. The family, friends, and other loved ones of the deceased and injured also want to move on with their lives. The way I know the system, this will drag on and on.

And what were the prescription drugs that he was taking???

At the time it was reported he was seeing a psychiatrist, but she quickly pulled into the background. I would lay good money on prescribed drugs being an equally large part of it, enabling him to put his nightmare into what we think of as reality.

slumdog, When the driver of the crane-truck in Japan, who killed seven children, was arrested and tried, the weapon used was not the main issue, but rather his health condition : epilepsy.

http://www.japantoday.com/category/crime/view/epileptic-crane-driver-gets-7-years-for-deaths-of-6-children-in-tochigi

As with the Newtown shooter, prescription drugs factor into the causes of both instances, but the information is being suppressed. Rather, only the weapon is being blamed more than the perpetrator.

Consider how ludicrous it would have been to place the blame on the crane, or crane manufacturers, for the tragic deaths of the children. The fact is the driver was in violation of the law by being behind the wheel. He consciously disregarded the law. " The prosecutor told the jury that by hiding his epilepsy to get his mobile crane driving license, Shibata had committed a serious offense which had resulted in grave consequences. The court also heard that he had caused accidents due to epilepsy before."

Holmes made a series of decisions with clearly criminal intent, but whether he was under influence of anti-depressants or other psychotropic medications is germaine to the discussion.

" You have not shown he was under the influence of anything. We do know for sure that he had weapons and that those weapons are what killed the people in the movie theater."

Nobody is saying the victims weren't killed by bullets. That's a ridiculous argument. The point is that as of yet the results of investigation have not been released and since he HAD been seen by at least three "mental health professionals", there is the distinct probability that he had been prescribed medications for his situation but that information is not available. We're only getting snippets of the full story. But the MSM is running full bore with the incomplete story.

I brought up the crane incident to contrast full vs partial fact exposure, not to draw parallels.

Let the prosecution of the case reveal the full picture without the dramatization from the media circus.

So what? How does that automatically mean that the medicine, not the condition of the person, has anything to do with this? Stop attempting to blame medicine and blame the individual and the fact that guns are so readily available there that a crazy person can easily build up an arsenal to kill people. You have no proof of anything but what you imagine. Until you do, I'll continue to think that the availablity of guns there is a huge part of the problem.

How do you know they do? Specifically answer the question. It seems to be a simple question.

Let me be specific: Are you seriously suggesting Holmes was a perfectly normal person until someone administered prescription drugs and then he became a crazed lunatic? I really would love to see proof of this.

I would lay good money on prescribed drugs being an equally large part of it, enabling him to put his nightmare into what we think of as reality.

Again, based on what? Isn't it more likely that the man was mentally unstable and that is why he was seeing psychiatrist? Are you seriously attempting to suggest he was perfectly normal until he got some alleged prescription drugs, that you don't even know he got? What we do know is that he was easily able to get his hands on weapons that kill and that can kill large numbers of people. I think that is a much larger problem.

"an unspecified illness", eh? Then how on earth do they know he's got it? Put the guy on trial already.

And what were the prescription drugs that he was taking???

Unless you have any specific evidence to the contrary, I am going to go with guns, not prescription drugs, as the direct cause of death of the people in the movie theater.

" Holmes also had booby-trapped his apartment near the theater with explosives, which police said he intended as a diversion to draw authorities away from the movie house while he was carrying out his assault."

What?? Unless he intended for the booby-trap to go off by itself first, the police were not even monitoring him.

Or was he an agent provocateur?

Herve,

The crane-truck driver has nothing to do with this case. That case is about a person having epilepsy and being affected by it during the regular course of the r work. Neither of the shootings, this or the Newtown one, reflect the same situation.

As I wrote, unless you have any specific evidence to the contrary, I am going to go with guns, not prescription drugs, as the direct cause of death of the people in the movie theater. Making further claims, with no proof, of suppresion of information does not answer my request for specific evidence. You can write any claims you want, but unless you can actually back them up, I still believe that the people killed in the movie theater were killed as a direct result of guns, not prescription drugs.

but whether he was under influence of anti-depressants or other psychotropic medications is germaine to the discussion.

You have not shown he was under the influence of anything. We do know for sure that he had weapons and that those weapons are what killed the people in the movie theater. Because of this, I feel the weapons are much more germaine than mere suggestions about prescription medications with nothing to back up these suggestions.
