I understand that the wannabe new "national narrative" is lawlessness, wanton destruction of property, vandalism, assault, battery, riots, theft, and terrorism.

I agree with much if what you say. Some of what has happened has been near hysterical.
Columbus is an odd choice - it is not like ever even went to any part of what became the USA - I think the only bit of the continent he ever visited is now Venezuela. He was also a bit of an awful person. However, the significance of his voyage changes the course of human history.
However, statues were erected for the people who put them up in the era and their attitudes should not necessarily be binding on future generations. Central London for example, is full of statues to often long forgotten Victorians. The Victorians were massively into statues, so I guess we're stuck with the bloody things, but I wouldn't care if half of them were removed and replaced with something slightly more interesting.

No one in history can sustain the condemnation of today’s morality.
There is an ominous similarity of the modern neo-Marxism to the Cultural Revolution. The public shaming and humiliations, forced apology, intolerance of traditional viewpoints and customs, and destruction of old icons such as Confucius. There is nothing democratic about the social upheaval going on in the West today. The damage will be long lasting.

He never went to North America, of course, but he was a disgrace as ruler of the settlements he ran in the Caribbean. I think we can commemorate the "discovery" of the American continent, but he and his brothers were genocidal tyrants.

Yeah it’s just”confederates” right?
cant control your own pack of attack dogs and your own narratives. That worries regular Americans and make is less likely they vote against Trump (no one voting for Biden- just against Trump.

Jesus. Enough of this. Why do we want to give the idiot in the White House more ammunition? Columbus had no bad intent. He was seeking a passage to the East Indies.

Why does the media label these as "protesters"? They are vandals.

I feel it's a bit going too far and extreme. It's a public property whose removal without consent and due course could constitute criminal charge (of vandalism).
Mass hysteria of this kind likens that of the Cultural Revolution in China.

Do you include the hundred of statues to Monctezuma, Huayba Capac and Pacall II?
Serrano
I want to see arrests.

Good. One less tyrant looking over the people. These statues need to go.
