The dizzying emergence of OpenAI's ChatGPT over a year ago and rivals since then have elevated the power, promise and portent of artificial intelligence into greater public view. OpenAI chief Sam Altman will be in Davos along with top executives from Microsoft, which helped bankroll his company's rise.

Davos oligarchs are aware of the existential threats to them like pushback against neo-lib plutocracy and plebeian misery and AI that can escape corporate control and even the playing field.

What should be remembered are that the neo-liberal, corporatists at Davos and the populists like Trump are united in their desire to secure their crony capitalist structural advantages from threats.

There is nothing antagonistic about them despite the obfuscation.

The only thing they are really scared of and try to marginalize is the actual left.

So they are worried about the surge of misinformation in Davos. Misinformation is usually opinions those in power do not want to hear or read.

They are pro tax and pro restrictions and pro rules.

They are billionaires who brag about paying no taxes and want to cut taxes for corporations and the ultra-rich, restrict women's rights and are pro-rules restricting individual freedom.

They are the authoritarian alt-right.

And are one of those existential threats for 2024. The neo-liberals and their corporate masters love them.

Aww . . . I didn’t get my invitation! Must have got lost in the mail . . . again!

And I missed the plenary session? Aww . . . and here I was, ready to walk around the A-List elites of the world, with shaven head, wearing a monocle and a fake dueling scar on my face, wearing a Nehru jacket, while walking around with an evil smile, all-the-while softly chuckling (Mwahahaha), while carrying a Persian cat.

Pretty much indistinguishable from everyone else there, I admit.

Oh, well . . . Maybe next year.

Everyone in every democratic country should be very concerned that their elected officials are exposed to lobbying by the largest corporations in the world and the extreme rich folks at Davos well outside of the restrictions, rules and reporting they may have on lobbyists in their own country.

Democratic countries should ban elected officials from attending. If countries see a need for international cooperation, that is what the UN and its myriad of agencies is for.

the threat posed by misinformation generated by AI,

Blame misinformation on AI? So have the various corporate and empire propaganda pushers in media like Rupert, Steve Bannon, Elmo M. Putin and Xi been using AI, or are they virtual humans, maybe alien reptiles?
