She had 16 formal events scheduled in one month, at age 95.

Too proud to use a cane until two weeks ago.

Tough old bird.

Nobody begrudges HM a quiet trip to the doc's.

The reptiles of the press are simply looking for prey. The next lockdown is imminent in the UK. They should focus on that instead. Or perhaps cover the story of how shortages in the supply chain may allow untreated sewage to be discharged into UK rivers. Or tot up how many staff the NHS lost to Brexit. Or why GPs are refusing to come out of hiding and treat people. Or the amount of bent foreign money invested in property in London. The sort of stories real journalists should be chasing.

Everyone is entitled to keep their health issues private, even the Queen.

But royal officials were forced to confirm late Thursday that she had in fact had "some preliminary investigations" in hospital on Wednesday, and stayed overnight, after The Sun newspaper broke the news.

Of course it was that toilet rag of a tabloid that decided to publicise something that should be kept private...

Even a high up public figure such as The Queen deserves some privacy when it comes to her health and needing to make a visit to the hospital.

Give the lady a break. And some privacy.

The queen was due to visit Northern Ireland but the visit was leaked several days ago which raised concerns over her safety.

She's perfectly safe in NI these days, Zichi, and her visit has been in the public domain for over a month. Truth is, a political football had been made out of commemoration of the Partition of Ireland and the foundation of NI: a last remnant of empire, where Sinn Féin is on track to become the leading party at next year's devolved assembly elections.

I for one, am not in the least confused....

the queen was in good spirits

I'm not confused. This clearly means she's cracked open a vintage bottle of brandy.

The Queen has previously been treated at the exclusive private clinic, which is known for treating the royal family, including in 2013 for gastroenteritis, when she also stayed for one night.

It is not a private clinic.

King Edward VII hospital-it is a fine one too!

It is about the Queen abdicated like most royal families in Europe. She is getting older by the day and she will not be able to carry out all her commitments and visits.

It is interesting that whenever a story about the Queen is topical someone outside the UK starts banging on about her abdicating. Not going to happen. A brief shufti of the Queen’s biography will pretty much confirm this.

Health is wealth. Life is a precious gift. Wishing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II strength and stamina.

Hang in there Liz - you can definitely outlive Charles. We are all counting on you.

After 100 millions of taxpayer money she’d better live another 98 years…

She's too old to attend her responsibilities anymore.

I lived in the UK for 15 years and honestly its not that pleasant.

God save the Queen !

A smokescreen to protect her from a politicised church service celebrating Northern Ireland's centenary.

Well played, Mrs. Windsor.
