I thought they locked everything up, got boosters and COVID pass. How come this is possible?

More than three-quarters of Australians are fully vaccinated, and just how deadly the latest outbreak will prove remains to be seen.

Remains to be seen, but all indications so far are that the symptoms will be very mild.

This might be a blessing in disguise, as Omicron may serve as a natural mass vaccination rollout, as a live attenuated virus vaccine that is probably more effective and safer than the current "vaccines".

it's even tougher Down Under because it's summertime there and it's tempting to go out and about.

Nationwide, 385 daily COVID-19 infections were confirmed Tuesday with Osaka reporting the most among all areas at 51, followed by Tokyo at 46 and Okinawa at 29. The health ministry said a record 69 people coming from abroad had been confirmed to be infected with the virus at Japanese airports.

Of course some of us will keep saying that this result is based on lack of testing, but how can those guys can guaratee that having same number of test as S. Korea and Australia do would be 3.000 cases daily?

Giving downvotes to me is an easy thing to do, but how about share your thoughts that strongly support your idea? Even if the number of test were like in England, the supposed number of new cases would be 0.08%.

Another thing, how testing everyone will guarantee that number of deaths will be zero? South Korea and Australia; countries that test everyone has huge number of deaths. Are you really sure that testing everyone will impede number of deaths?

I'm not against testing people, but we need to understand that our focus should be taking care of ourself by keeping the rules and having good healthy habits. No matter how many people are being testing each day, if the number of deaths is high, this testing thing will be meaningless. Instead of focusing on number of test, why not focus on making people aware of the importance of washing hands properly and eat healthly? Another thing, no matter how many doses you took, if you dont have healthy habits, the risk of die is same. Vaccines are important, but having healthy habits is important too.

"Variant" and "surge", two words that the media are using to scare everyone into compliance.

The good news? Omicron is how COVID ends.

Australia has replaced lockdown mania with testing mania. Reported on the news today people waiting in queues to be tested for 8 hours ad then getting results 48 -72 hours later! The chaos is of concern as people have to isolate /quarantine whilst waiting for the test results as well as after of course if positive. Businesses without staff causing quasi lockdowns. An now the new solution - rapid tests - to control the chaos. People will be taking them everyday the love of tests is so strong. And of course everyone want the government to give them these tests for free too like the other tests are. Just keep adding to the billions of dollars debt their grandchildren will still be paying long after COVID has gone,.

the media are using to scare everyone

In democracies that permit a free press, most outlets will report on what they think is newsworthy. A global pandemic that has killed roughly 25,000,00 people, sickened many others and done severe damage to millions of businesses seems a newsworthy topic to me.

That some people get scared reading about newsworthy items is on those individuals who must live in fear, many of whom probably seeing plots and conspiracies that reasonable people don't. But most reasonable people do NOT believe what Tucker, Alex Jones and others in kook media report.

Technically correct but also not accurate. More than 90% are now fully vaccinated (had 2 doses) which may explain why the current surge is not resulting in more hospitalisations. Time will tell however. It's also notable that testing requirements are being reduced.

According to some independent Australian researchers, the vaccination rates in Australia are actually closer to

42%. Which is less than half of the government figures. That would follow what Ive heard from Australian friends who have been telling me that (in certain circles) very few people had actually gone in for the vaccination. This is why the anger of the Aussies don't seem to balance with the vaccination stats. Would you be surprised if the Australian government lied about something ?! The question is WHY exactly they would mislead their own people and the world on these figures ! Questions, questions.....

Hospitalizations are at record levels and rising fast.

The important question is how many people have died for omicron variant?

I expect the sound of crickets.

“I thought they locked everything up, got boosters and COVID pass. How come this is possible?”

They didn’t lock everyone up.

The majority have not had boosters.

Many people have Covid passes.

How did it happen? Er… some people with Omicron passed it on?

And now unvaccinated are disproportionately represented in ICUs.

let me guess, you’re an American who watches Tucker Carlson?

Site your sources. The highest number I can find is 5.81 million.

So, how does the idea of keeping the virus out by making a police state work out, Australia?

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

Skyrocket! Surge! Explode! I’ve started playing scary adjective bingo with these stories.

Incidentally, focusing on hospitalizations and deaths misses the point: long covid. You can have serious damage to your body even after what initially appears to be nothing more than a cold.

"Huge numbers of deaths"? Huh? The 7 day average deaths in Australia: 7 per day. I think most nations would be very happy with those numbers. The US is still tragically running at 1500 plus per day.

From all the reading I have done, it does not seem the omicron variant leads to too many deaths, so I dont imagine those death numbers will skyrocket in such a vaccinated nation as Australia. The US with far lower vaccination numbers is a very different story.

Unfortunately it seems the spread of omicron was inevitable once the borders were opened and all quarantine measures removed.

Long Covid. What happens years later? to continue the fear mongering.

how about Long vaccine then? Do we know what will happen to the vaccinated years from now?

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

so who are they and what’s wrong with them? Anything serious?

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

It's like Australia finally gave up on the lockdowns despite their best efforts

Been a while since I read or heard anyone talk about a "free press". I think RT is free insofar as events outside of Russia. A few smaller, what one would call "alternative media" is also free. The big capitalist conglomerates or the state funded propaganda outlets such as BBC or NHK are arguably the least free of all.

Will be a steep, quick climb in cases, but equally steep, quick decline. Few deaths. See South Africa.

wtf are you talking about ? Where are your references for those researchers? Most of the the new cases are either asymptomatic or relatively mild, with the high vaccination rate likely a key reason for this.

the spike in cases is due to omicron and the relaxation of restrictions across the country. Hospitalizations are not not rising at anywhere near the same rate as infections.

The surprisingly mild symptoms were first noticed in South Africa, which has a very low fax rate. It's a property of omicron, not the vax.

I would second that!

In fact, I would go even further and propose that various psy-ops have occurred in various countries.

Talks of thousands of deaths and no linkage to underlying causes of death other than Covid.

Japan has made its rules and regulations akin to a lockdown for certain groups and there is a distinct flavor of discrimination wafting around Japan at present.

Overseas entrants do not partake in health monitoring but rather health surveillance.

The excessive monitoring of the MySOS app requires reporting 5 times a day-times are staggered to ensure the ‘quarantinee’ cannot take trips of any lengthy duration.

It is evident that health concerns are not the focus but surveillance is…

@PTTownsend. Didn’t think you would share your source.

More than 300 athletes — including students, professionals, amateurs and retirees — from around the world were included. We reviewed publicly available information for each of the 19 professional athletes who either came from or played in the U.S.

So yeah let’s only check 19 of 300 and say it’s false. What?
