With the rock and roll greats, it's rarely drugs, but booze thats the cause. Southern Comfort brought down many a star. Dad ju ju drink there.

Very, very sad but true, so many of these rock stars look happy but inside, deep down inside they must be sad and lonely, trying to cover it all up with alcohol, drugs etc..what a shame. RIP young lady

With a name like "winehouse" what did you expect?

'Tis a shame... she was just entering her prime, and the music world will miss out on a lot as a result.

Booze (and drugs) is an amazing thing when it comes to dependency. I've seen a number of people hit the bottle (or cans) again after going cold turkey because of the aforementioned symptoms. One friend is currently undergoing this process and trying to attend AA, but she's suffering very serious depression, had bad DT symptoms for a while (including auditory hallucinations like hearing sounds and music everywhere where it was not present), panic attacks, irregular heartbeat, insomnia, sudden fevers, and skin rash. She tells me every day she wants to get back on it to ease the symptoms, but she knows that she cannot touch it in reasonable amounts. Anyway, terrible stuff, the hooch, for those who become addicted.

You should encourage your friend to see a doctor, Smith. Delirium Tremens can be fatal.

Keith Witley died the same way. Tragic loss, deprived the world of some great music.

I thought Billie Holiday's main problem was with heroin, not alcohol.

That's how dangerous alcohol can be. Tax it much higher or ban it altogether.

Foxie:

" ban it altogether. "

Back to the Prohibition days? The drug gangs would have another heyday.

or ban it altogether.

????

Without alcohol-related deaths, can you imagine how many more idiots we would have to deal with? There are enough out there already! Alcohol is there for me to enjoy and to help Darwin keep his annual award show going.

Alcohol has not only helped end the lives of obnoxious singers whose 15 minutes were over but also the lives of a few morons I knew. In fact, more people should be drinking and taking meth!

"more than five times the British drunk driving limit."

Oh gee. That's like 10 pints of beer - normal consumption for many at the local pub on many an evening. Alcohol binging in the UK is a by-product of many years of draconian licensing laws.

Human beings in general like getting smashed on drink and drugs for whatever reason they have. Why bother denying it?

Well if the second autopsy is so clear suddenly, why were they unable to form any conclusion last time around?

I wonder if DentShop has Madverts in mind when talking about Darwin and just letting idiots kill themselves off with alcohol and drugs?? Not that I have that idea, just a ???? Anyway, I agree with FOXIE, alcohol can be very, very bad, people drunk, violent etc..drunk DRIVERS etc..wife beaters etc..so should we just try to ban it?? I really doubt that would work now in modern Western countries, but education is very important, enjoy a drink here and there, but drinking yourself to death?? Just stupid and sad NASAKENAI IMHO. RIP Amy chan
