Couple slips though security to crash White House state dinner

Just read this in the news. Too funny. Check out the pictures too. Nice security there white house!

Seems that some members of the secret service are going to be joining the ranks of the unemployed, sooner rather than later. Furthermore, this "lucky couple" should receive an award for their actions, what about 3 to 5 hard labor for starters?

If they weren't invited, at whose table did they sit for dinner? It sounds to me as if someone on the staff let them in and found a place for them to sit.

Do they use those plastic spoons and knives like on airlines at state dinners? I guess they must as all of the heads of state were safe from a full course meal and all the cutlery that goes along with it.

Maybe I can elaborate. A champagne glass, a high heeled shoe, a garrotte made from tied napkins, a shard of a broken mirror or picture frame, a molotov cocktail, poison darts, the old Putin radioactive pellet, etc.

The metal detectors are to prevent the obvious AFTER the guests have all been vetted. Someone getting in with no vetting at all is absolutely capable of anything.

Taking this advice into consideration,　any future state dinners held by President Obama will require that all guests get changed once they arrive at the White House. The new fashion will be the so-called "Gitmo" look, with everybody, foreign heads of state included, required to wear sheik orange jumpsuits with "White House Dinner Guest" stenciled front and back. Moreover, to eliminate the risk from cutlery, guests will now dine literally on the floor, with White House catering staff dolling out dinner (course-by-course) from a bucket.

Hello? It was not the abundance of weapons we had a problem with. It was the fact that people who should not have been near the president were. Potential weapons are a fact of life we deal with everyday. Possible assassins have no place near the president first and foremost.

This is no laughing matter. You see those photos? right there with Joe and Rham.. As for weapons, hey necklaces can choke, high heels can hurt, perfume bottle can hold sarin..... this should not have happened. I'd fire the security detail. We are lucky it went over well.

I would like to know their motive behind this party crash. As for prosecuting them, that's what people do to other people who embarrass them. They exposed a security flaw, and as a result, the President will be better protected. As for the "metal detectors" there are a number of configurations for magnetometers. Some of them include penetrating radar that can detect non-metallic items that can be used as weapons such as a knife made from obsidian, plastic pistols, and so forth...They can probably resolve this issue by having a beer with the president at the white house...

Timorborder. Why do you have to assume that everyone else is an idiot? The point is that there is a guest list. Everyone on the guest list is checked out according to statements, disposition, etc. THEN they attend and go through the metal detector. In fact they are invited. They have no MOTIVE to harm the president.

The point that yelnats, numbskull, and I were making is that allowing someone into the venue without first vetting them is dangerous. IF SOMEONE WERE SO INCLINED, there are plenty of ways that they could harm the POTUS or others. For that reason, if the vetting step fails, then no other safeguard will be sufficient. You make a cute statement about jumpsuits, but it truly misses the point that plastic cutlery and happy meals will not be enough to protect people if eye-gouging neck-breaking maniacs are allowed into the venue.

Maybe you were joking, but it seemed like the fashion and sitting on the floor statements take us far away from the truth: the stakes are very high and someone could get hurt. There are many people who wanted to kill Obama even before he was elected. If we decide to give up on guest lists, he is toast, metal detectors or not, jumpsuits or not.

Like President Obama said let us gives thanks to the "ALmighty God' for this thanksgiving. Surely the laughs from these two should grant them immunity. No doubt President Obama will blame the security breach on former President Bush.

Trespassing on Federal property is the most likely charge for those two gate crashers. In this day and age of high tech security how did this happen. I would assume that you get an invitation from the White House that would have a microchip in it and when you arrive at the gate, they swipe it and a photograph of you appears on the security monitor and if it does not match they arrest you for attempting unauthorized access to the White House. If this happened in India or Russia, those two would be hanging from the walls of the Kremlin or Taj Mahal with body parts missing. As an American, I am ashamed that in these difficult and dangerous times, our own Secret Service can not get it right on something as simple as a dinner party. There probably will be some replacements at the office of the Secret Service by next Monday and those two gate crashers should be in custody in an underground bunker below Washington DC being interogated maybe even water boarded to teach them a lesson with video of it on Youtube asking who else wants to screw with US security, please come on down to this baptism.
