Sad day for a lot of people, and I hope that as time passes so does their pain. Regardless of the fact that we cannot possibly know what happened on or to the plane in question, the people should be remembered as heroes.

I thought their reckless actions resulted in the plane crashing?

Who are you referring to as "their" in your comment Asagao? You must be the only person who has not heard the recordings from the flight. The people knew that they were going to die no matter what actions they took. So they tried to retake control of the plane and the hijackers crashed the plane. The people chose to fight back instead being part of the terrorist's plan. They are heroes. To fight back and die is better than to die as a sheep.

Asagao:

I think conspiracy theorists have the right to their misguided opinion, but this line is really, really tasteless.

Sorry, just watched the documentary with the demolition explosions on the twin towers and the round hole in the pentagon, with no plane fuselage or shapes. Suddenly I am sceptical about what happened. Maybe you should watch them yourself and form your own opinion. Facts are facts, and I won't judge you for your interpretation.

"Let's roll......" that was the last communication we heard from UA #93. This word still talks to my ears after many years. I wish I could unlive or undo that moment. These guys were truly brave heros. They were young good looking American Pies with full of life ahead, and everyone would love to have them as a friend.

Very sad day.....

Asagao,

Regardless of whether you are skeptical of what happened or not your earlier comment was in bad taste. Whether these people sacrificed their own lives to save others or whatever the latest conspiracy theory is these people are dead and their families are still grieving their loss. This just makes your comment all the more insensitive.

The people on this plane put others lives ahead of their own and did the unimaginable they forfeited their lives so stranger could live. This is the ultimate in bravery.

This group is the least talked about...can't help but wonder if it's because the nutjobs have trouble attaching a conspiracy theory to it. We'll probably never know what exactly happened on that plane but we do know that the people acted and prevented the plane from killing anyone else. Just sheer guts.

Someone needs some attention... Can we give him a group hug?

I don't want to say bad things about these poor people that passed away. But the fact is that the plane crashed because of a small group of the passengers. It might of also been crashed by the hijackers if the passengers didn't do it. We will never know. But if I was on a highjacked plane, I would just sit quiet and do whatever they asked. Anyway, my thoughts and feelings go out to the families of these passengers and crew.

Well maybe you should refrain from posting then!

But the fact is that the plane crashed because of a small group of the passengers. It might of also been crashed by the hijackers if the passengers didn't do it. We will never know.

Yes perhaps the plane did crash because of these passengers, but lets look at this the preceding incidents that day 3 of the planes also hijacked had been crashed. Apparently the people on the plane where aware of this, they knew they where going to die. They chose to do something about it, to die trying rather than let a terrorist decide when they would die. They chose to sacrifice themselves to save others. And you say bad things about their decisions.

But if I was on a highjacked plane, I would just sit quiet and do whatever they asked.

Im tipping you would be the panicked passenger, you know every disaster movie has one. The person we are always inwardly happy when they die just so their panicking stops. It would be a terrible situation to be in knowing quite well you are going to die your only choice is do l die trying to save myself and others or do l sit here and die when some evil SOB kills me. Its a situation that you wouldnt wish on anyone.

the apparent phone calls made by passengers were physically impossible if you are interested in what the conspiricists say because there was no reception at that height.

Actually cell phones would have worked this has been proven. They would have dropped out a lot and only a small % would get through due to the hand over between cell towers not being fast enough but there is research that it is possible that they would have had some success with calls. Maybe you should look that up rather than believe everything the conspiracy theorists say, especially stuff that is proven false

I have been in similar situations and I just remained cool and got out OK. Next time I am on a flight, I will turn my phone on and check all the flight if I have reception. I'll let you know, I'll post from 33000 feet.

Asagao

So you have been on a hijacked plane when 3 other planes have also been hijacked and crashed into buildings and you are aware of this. Wow sorry my BS meter just went off.

Next time I am on a flight, I will turn my phone on and check all the flight if I have reception. I'll let you know, I'll post from 33000 feet.

Oh by the way how many cell phone calls do you think where made from this plane successfully? I will give you a hint 2. A whole 2 calls where successful.

It's the belief of many experts that these so-called "heroes" were primarily motivated to overtake the terrorists in order to save their own lives rather than any potential targets. I tend to agree with them.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Whatever reason they did it for to save their lives or to save others is irrelevant, the facts are they took a risk by taking the action they did. They had a fair idea that their plane was going to be crashed, and they chose to take a risky action of trying to take the plane back, even if they had no one but themselves in mind it is still a brave thing to do regardless

Please refrain from posting inflammatory remarks.

Lol @Asagao

I laugh at how bad of a chinese troll you are.

nearly forgot,

RIP HEROES and passengers of Flight 93. Thank you for having the brains and backbone to do what was needed, unlike Asagao who would of "remained calm" until his fiery death taking out scores more of innocent people.

No one knows what happened. After the alleged "Let's roll!" comment from one passenger to his wife before the plane crashed, there is nothing but theory. Maybe they overpowered the guys with box cutters and the renegade pilots crashed then and there, maybe the plane was shot down, or maybe they people hid behind sandwich carts while the plane was going down; point is that a lot of people died in a hijacked plane with the hijackers hell-bent on crashing said plane somewhere else. There is nothing wrong in mourning the absolutely needless loss of life.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I don't believe that it was shot down. That would have been leaked to the press long ago. Conspiracy nuts can't believe the simple truth. It's not important how the plane crashed, they are heroes because they chose to fight back. RIP Flight 93 passengers. (; _ ;)

With all 3 of the previous hijacked planes being used to crash into populated buildings, the passengers would be dumb not to realize that the 4th hijacked plane of that day would also be used as a suicide missile. Whatever happened in that 4th plane, they undoubtedly saved the lives of those people wherever that plane was intended to target.

It takes courage to fight for your own life. Plenty of people will avoid confrontation even knowing they will die, just to buy a few more minutes.

It's the belief of many experts that these so-called "heroes" were primarily motivated to overtake the terrorists in order to save their own lives rather than any potential targets.

Why is the truth so inflammatory? That is true, though the interpretation and presentation suck. If they knew the plane was going to be used as a weapon, and stopping that was even a secondary motivation, they still deserve the title of hero. Having a selfish motive also does not cancel out the good you knowingly do for others, and that includes the idea they might have been trying to save other passengers too. Every one of us go through life trying to save our own skins anyway. That does not count for heroism and courage. That is about who else's skins you also save or at least try to.

In fact, most heroes don't even think about their actions. They react like robots. Who is more the hero, one who grabbles with difficult choices of one's own impeding doom, or one who just mindlessly reacts?

I think those people deserve the benefit of the doubt. Some, no doubt, would have chosen not to fight if not for that extra bit of knowledge that others will also die. Some surely would have rather died quietly in a corner than fighting. Who cares if they also wanted to live? We all do. Its a given that is useless to point out.
