Just like somebody walking into a crowded area with a couple of vicious pit bulls on long leashes. These types of people are dumb and they just want to intimidate peaceful people trying to live their lives.

“Anyone who intimidates a voter in Michigan by brandishing a firearm or, for that matter, by threatening with a knife, baseball bat, fist, or otherwise menacing behavior, is committing a felony under existing law,” the court said.

Good.

Voter intimidation - which this clearly is - is illegal. But from a 'rights' perspective, the mere presence of guns (bear as opposed to brandish) near a polling place is probably not enough to dampen others' freedom of expression, in this case voting, and therefore this is not a winnable argument.

This Trace article deals with armed protesters, but I think the situations are comparable.

As a white American who grew up in the 80s when crime rates were higher, my rhetorical question is, “When did White people become such (insert a word that would get me moderated here)?”

I’m from gun lovin KS and I got my first rifle at the ripe age of 12. And yet We didn’t feel the need to gun up for a trip to 7-11. We didn’t open-carry to the kids play date at the park, in fact if someone had brought a gun to a play date, they would have been invited to leave. In fact there was no open carry because any reasonable person would consider that insane.

Make no mistake, Trump supporters showing up with their ill-fitting military garb and their long guns are not there to exercise their rights, they’re there to intimidate voters.

Graham,

Did that change come about as a result of the NRA's change in leadership and direction? The dates seem to match up.

The NRA went from an organization devoted to legitimate hunting and shooting to a political action committee for gun makers pushing high volume assault weapons because those weapons are extremely profitable.

This change really started to gain momentum in the mid to late 80s and came to fruition the 90s.

a political action committee for gun makers pushing high volume assault weapons because those weapons are extremely profitable.

And they've done so by pushing their warped interpretation of the second amendment which succeeded in turning the supreme court in 2008, their statistically unsupported 'insurrectionist' argument, and their various truisms such as 'criminals don't obey laws'.

It really is, as Warren Burger, Chief Justice of the United States (1969-86) said in 1990:

one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American People by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime.

One wonders what White America will think when Black America guns up and starts showing up in the burbs to exercise their 2nd amendment rights and “monitor” predominantly white polling places?

I mean fair is fair.....

"Have a good night, Mom. I'm going to a polling center with the ability to shoot someone in the face."

Graham,

Right? We'll probably see a repeat of the Mulford Act; a 1967 repealing of a law that allowed public carrying of loaded firearms, in response to armed Black Panther patrols. Signed by Reagan and backed by the NRA.

Yes, As we keep watching on TV all the people that are rioting and looting they are all Trump supporters, so every black person is a bona fide Trump supporter it would seem if that is the case. As to why they continue to burn down their own stores in the old neighborhood is quite a mystery to me, but OK.....

where armed goons stand outside polling stations...

protecting people from voter intimidation is now bad

Go Vote! Throw all the Repub fascists out!

Rule of law is racist and fascist, that’s right! Let anarchy ring!
