The US has large warps almost as big as these hornets but they aren't aggressive.

Adult eastern cicada-killer wasps are large, 1.5 to 5.0 centimetres (0.6 to 2.0 in) long, for example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphecius_speciosus These wasps are here whenever cicada are crawling up trees (9 and 17 yr birth cycles), about 25% seem to be taken by these wasps. They are scary only due to their size. I don't know anyone ever stung.
