Isn't America about trying to get rich? What's wrong with being rich? (As long as they don't close the opportunity door for others behind.)

Doesn't matter which political party. Two of the richest political candidates are spending tens of millions of dollars of their own money in California.

So long as they pay for their own ventures (the Secret Service is a non-sequitur: the SS has to protect who they're lawfully assigned to protect whether at a wedding or travelling to a sports stadium (recently Bush and Obama); the protectees can't stop living life just because of it), it's their money to spend.

Don't all former Presidents and their family members have to get a Secret Service detial to protect them?

Not if they don't ask for it. Although he resigned from office, Mr. Nixon nonetheless qualified for Secret Service protection but chose not to accept it.

Who are these people? Where do they get off calling themselves the party of the working man?

The Chelsea wedding includes $2,000,000 in costs which will apparently be paid by US Taxpayers, as Secret Service costs for protecting former president Clinton and foreign heads of state.

Democrats are officially the party of the rich.

Wonder when Mezvinsky is going to hire some interns. Like mother, like daughter...hope she does not endanger the world like Hillary did.

Yes, John Edwards, there are 2 Americas...

The educated and neo-cons.

Best wishes to the Bride and Groom and their families.

I agree with goodDonkey.

Groom is the son of a disgraced Democrat who ran afoul of the law.

"His father, Edward M. Mezvinsky, was a two-term congressman from Iowa who pleaded guilty in 2002 to swindling dozens of investors out of $10 million. He served five years in prison. "

This is slightly more interesting that if Paris Hilton got married. Here I wish them happiness however. In the Paris case I'd express my sympathy to the groom.

A wedding that costs 20 times more than the one for the Bush child, I forget her name.

I can't believe Chelsea Clinton is already 30. Why, she was just 12 when her father was running for president. Good grief, where does the time go...

sctaber56, I understand that it was primarily an event for the bride and groom, and that their desires should have been at the front, but this is the Clintons. They never miss an opportunity. Not trying to play "gotcah politics" but they sort of invented the game.

Mezvinsky is a son of former U.S. Reps. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky of Pennsylvania and Ed Mezvinsky of Iowa, longtime friends of the Clintons

They did not mention that he just got out of jail on fraud and corruption charges, but I guess that was probably a good thing.

But, I do hope Chelsea and the groom have a nice life together. I wish them well.

@Alphaape: From what I've read in several American news sources, the guest list was primarily dictated by the bride and groom, not their parents. It was their wedding, after all, and they certainly are of an age to call their own shots. I also read that the Gores, in light of their recent separation, made the decision not to attend. It's not always just about politics.

“Why not?” she asked Saturday morning, a camera slung over her shoulder. “Big story. Maybe see Oprah.”

Oprah didn't show. She wasn't invited. Having come from the state where Bill was the governor, and knowiing how they operate, it is probably more important to notice who wasn't there. President Obama, nor his wife nor the VP were there. And Oprah was not there either. I would take a bet that neither the likes of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton made this event. If the list comes out, and you see who isn't on it, it was because they may have been long time Bill& Hillary supporters, but they crossed her when they supported Obama in the last election.

If Obama's poll numbers keep going down, you will probably be able to say that this was the first shot in the 2012 election.

I hate to bring politics into this, but if you know how Bill & Hillary operate in the public, you could see that they would stop at nothing to get an "edge."

But, I do wish Chelsea well. I remember seeing her as a kid when a friend of mine worked as her nanny. Good luck to the both of them.

Bimbo is an attitude not a level of education. She is getting an incredibly costly wedding buzzed in media as if she was Paris Hilton. Her choice, so she can't complain if we say it's tacky exhibition of money.

A "bimbo" that attended Stanford university and has a masters in public health??! What`s your definition then of an educated woman??! If this is how you class "bimbo" I would be delighted to be labelled as one!

The wedding looked lovely, if a little ostentatious for my taste. Good luck to them.

It was a great wedding. I wish the couple everlasting happiness!

From the pictures I've seen online, it looks to have been a very, very lovely wedding. The couple's faces were so full of joy and promise. Congratulations and Mazel Tov to Chelsea and Marc - may they share a long, happy life together always. Bet their folks on both sides are glad that this day finally is over!

I'm trying like heck to care here

It depends on the meaning of bimbo is? Remember what's is is? Oprah shows up, but for sure one (M.....)is not invited. Wow a lot of dough $$$$$$$ !!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She is far from a bimbo. She is a well educated woman of great stature. Try to not associate every woman of stature as a bimbo, it will make your statements less credible.

What is with all of the fuss on her wedding!!! She is just another bimbo getting married. A rich bimbo at that...
