Republicans are easily impressed with braggarts and egomaniacs.

retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson remain(s) in the race. . .

Really?

This week, Bill O'Reilly told Ben Carson straight up: "It'd take a miracle" for him to win the Republican nomination.

But Carson isn't backing down. In fact, he's working on that "miracle" by taking shots at President Obama.

"He's an 'African' American – he was, you know, raised white," Carson said on POLITICO's "Off Message" podcast. "I mean, like most Americans, I was proud that we broke the color barrier when he was elected, but ... he didn't grow up like I grew up ... Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia. So, for him to, you know, claim that, you know, he identifies with the experience of black Americans, I think, is a bit of a stretch."

Goodbye Mr. Carson.

Politico is a liberal publication. They will slant the truths to suit themselves. Say what you want about Carson, he has more integrity than Hillary on any one best day of hers.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

And meanwhile the Hillary case moves on, Democrats must be overly impressed with power hungry lawbreaking liars.

U.S. judge orders discovery to go forward over Clinton’s private email system

A federal judge on Tuesday ruled that State Department officials and top aides to Hillary Clinton should be questioned under oath about whether they intentionally thwarted federal open records laws by using or allowing the use of a private email server throughout Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013. The decision by U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of Washington came in a lawsuit over public records brought by Judicial Watch, a conservative legal watchdog group, regarding its May 2013 request for information about the employment arrangement of Huma Abedin, a longtime Clinton aide.

Carson is still in the race to sell books and travel....consideration for a Cabinet position wouldn't hurt either, he is retired after all.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I don't get your point kc. I agree with Bill O'Reilly it's a long shot for the nomination. It Carsons choice to continue, not yours or O'Reilly's.

For Carsons comments....growing up welfare black or privileged black is different. Being black doesn't make one behave a certain way. Growing up in comfort surrounded by achievement or desperation paves the life path. Carson broke out and his mother did a fantastic job pushing her sons into a better life.

This goes for white. Raised in desperation or privileged makes a big difference.

Lizz makes a good point, Carson may settle for an apointment by the next POTUS. He has had an impressive life. Single welfare mom in the inner city to one of the best in the world in his field. Imagine if he used the same drive to succeed and improve in an official capacity.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Imagine if he used the same drive to succeed and improve in an official capacity.

It would be something to see. He'd have the American people believing the world is only 6000 years old, and that the pyramids were used to store grain, in a matter of months.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Single welfare mom in the inner city to one of the best in the world in his field.

Imagine if a GOPer wins and cuts off the welfare, as Dr. Carson proposes.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Welfare was meant to be a crutch until you improve your life. Not a generational lifestyle. I am all for offering the helping hand as most Americans are. The helping hand is temporary. Ask a family of three making $40-$50k a year how they feel about welfare. The working family gets little to nothing for assistance while the welfare family of 3 get almost free housing, food, daycare and healthcare. The $50k family is struggling to pay Obamacare premiums. No daycare. And rent with no chance of a single family home unlike the welfare family.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

@Laguna,

Cutting off welfare is another lie from you left-wingers. You dont seem to have a problem with the Dems stealing and wasting Social Security benefits.

@Strangerland,

Hed most likely be in a cabinet post relating to his expertise not a preacher of the earths age.

There's one way to get a pack of illiterates to follow the Trump revival tent of racism.

Get free wall to wall live coverage of your campaign from Rupert Murdock on FOXNews.

"Look, you could say that Trump is the candidate Fox & Friends invented," Gingrich said. "He was on your show I think more than any other show. It was always a happy, positive conversation."

"Yep," a defeated-sounding Steve Doocy finally conceded.

Donald J. Trump, the candidate Rupert Murdock made to amuse idiots. Ladies and Gentlemen, The GOP ShiaTea!

And these clown were whining about the Pope in American Politics?

Murdock's already picked his President.

FOXNews gives him a Dictator's balcony everyday. Il Duce! Il Duce! Il Duce!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Welfare was meant to be a crutch until you improve your life. Not a generational lifestyle.

The problem is that welfare doesn't leave enough leeway to be able to get off of welfare. And since the people who speak ill of welfare also speak ill of free university for the people, it's not like people on welfare have any avenue to get off of it.

If you really want people off welfare, create a path for them to get off of it. But as long as you are criticizing welfare out of one side of your mouth, and criticizing everything that would give welfare recipients a way of getting off of it out of the other side of your mouth, you only have yourselves to blame for generations of welfare recipients.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

There's one way to get a pack of illiterates to follow the Trump revival tent of racism.

Demonizing and insulting people you don't agree with is always easier than understanding them, isn't it?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Fill in the blank: "You can't ____ the Trump!"

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Looking to history, the comparison with a Dictator's balcony and Il Duce! Il Duce! Il Duce! isn't an attack. It is a statement of observation and comparison as illustrated below. (not intended for the illiterate)

He valued Nietzsche's concept of the superman, "The supreme egoist who defied both God and the masses, who despised egalitarianism and democracy, who believed in the weakest going to the wall and pushing them if they did not go fast enough." - Denis Mack Smith CBE FBA FRSL

Trump exhibits all the characteristics of the superman egoist. Only the uninformed or ignorant continue in the praise of a champion of torture. Unelectable except for the help of his good friend and patron, Mr. Rupert Murdoch and FOX & Friends.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Stranger....are you yourself in control of you destiny or is all that respocibility in the hands of the Japanese government?

The path is there. Carson made the correct turn. Drugs, alcohol, teen pregnancy, robbery, truancy and violence is the wrong path. Oh, welfare is thanks to the democrats. They manage to keep the underclass contained.

Free universities are fine with me....are they willing to loose all those profits? US taxpayers are overburdened already. We need infrastructure improvement before free education for all. Many scholarships and assistance exists for a helping hand if they are sought.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Trump's free FOXNews coverage may have bought him some powerful enemies . . . besides the American People, of course!

A key player in the Koch brothers' inner political circle will work directly on Sen. Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign, bringing deep connections to the brothers' vast network of donors and experience helping oversee their sophisticated political operation.

Republican power brokers Charles and David Koch haven't endorsed a GOP primary candidate, but Marc Short's decision to move to the Rubio camp, first reported by Politico, comes as the party’s top figures grow increasingly alarmed by Donald Trump’s rise and looks for ways to stop his momentum.

It must be something to throw away a fortune in a vain effort to promote prejudice. Odd choice from Mr. Trump. But, everyone remembers Clippers owner Donald Sterling. So, it's not like an unheard of disaster.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

HuffPost notes, "Nevada’s GOP Caucus Appears To Be Completely FUBAR" - "caucus volunteers are wearing Trump gear (they're not allowed to show preference). Actively bullying folks. Not checking IDs." (Apparently, they are allowed to show preference, and bullying... well, Trump.)

Then again, this is a Republican caucus, and Republicans have never proved themselves good at governing anything.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

it's not like people on welfare have any avenue to get off of it.

The avenue of getting off welfare is called "getting a job". And many people, including those who have been on welfare do it every day.

I used to be a police officer, I worked in one of the most dangerous areas in one of America's larger cities. In a crap neighborhood of one room apartments, there was a young black woman with three sons. She didn't live on welfare, she worked full time as a waitress. The three sons had different fathers, one of whom was dead, the other in prison. This woman could have taken welfare, she was qualified to receive it, but she preferred to work. She got all three of her sons through high school, and into university.

The other mothers in the neighborhood called her stupid, saying that it was a waste of time to work when she didn't have to. Every day they sat in front of their ratty apartments gossiping, and ignoring their children, who were usually out getting into trouble. Most of the sons of these mothers dropped out of school, many were in and out of juvenile hall, a few graduated to the state prison, a few were killed in robberies and bad drug deals.

But the woman I am speaking of didn't want her sons to end up like their fathers, or other young men in the neighborhood; dead, or in prison. And she succeeded. Did the other mothers respect her hard work and success? Absolutely not. They hated her for it, because they thought she disrepected them for not working themselves, and they were right. It felt quite good when I noticed one day that her apartment was empty. She moved to Tallahassee after her youngest son entered university.

Anyone with a healthy body and an elementary school level of education can find a job in America. When you pay people do to nothing, don't be surprised when large numbers of people decide to do nothing. People can get off welfare if they want to get off welfare. They can avoid getting on welfare in the first place by staying in school, working hard, and keeping their noses clean. Countless people get out of the welfare rut, but too many don't, and often it is either because they don't want to, or they listen to stupid people when they tell them that it's not their fault that they are on welfare, and that there is no way out, other than to vote for a candidate who will increase welfare spending, and "create jobs". The welfare spending is increased, in order to buy votes, but the jobs are never created, because as more welfare is paid out, taxes are increased, and as taxes are increased, there is less private sector money to create jobs.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I still don't understand why Chris "There it is! The memorized 25 second speech!" ( damn, that was a great zinger )Christie didn't even do as well as Marco Memorized 25 Second Speech Rubio...

The avenue of getting off welfare is called "getting a job". And many people, including those who have been on welfare do it every day.

Yet most jobs people on welfare get are still at or below the poverty line, and as far as I recall, you are adamantly against raising minimum wage. So even if the person gets a job, they still have no avenue out of poverty, and if they lose their job for any reason, it's not like they have a nest egg to fall back on - so the result, more welfare. It's an unending cycle, because there is no path out of poverty for the downtrodden.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@MarkG, Ben Carson, the belt buckle stabber, shows us that "violence is the wrong path"? Was his story verified yet?

Now to your question about whether universities are willing to lose "all those profits"? I think you are wrong if you imagine universities raking in pure profits for themselves. Take the simple example of the biggest universities with outwardly appearing profitable football or basketball teams. The millions from those teams are needed to subsidize the dozens of university sports teams that few people buy tickets to watch, exorbitant coaching (not teaching) salaries, and maintaining facilities. After all that, where is the profit and where does it end up?

The boom in fly by night for profit universities has shown that model to be at a high risk of bankruptcy, leaving students in the lurch when their college shuts down. Plenty of cases in the news every year in the US.

Thanks for the photos JT. I especially like the 2nd photo ft two Americans, one in red / one in blue but both with the cowboy hats. I hope they're both republicans, I don't think Dems (the guy in blue) take to that fashion well and bear "empty" holster(s).

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The avenue of getting off welfare is called "getting a job". And many people, including those who have been on welfare do it every day.

Carson's mother was apparently a hard worker yet still had to rely on welfare to make ends meet. Times have not changed, apparently; 73% of welfare aid flows to households headed by a working adult, according to a University of California, Berkeley study. Those who fear the end of welfare second most (after the recipients themselves) are those corporations who pay subliving wages knowing full well that Uncle Sam will step in to fill the gap.

You can eliminate welfare while mandating guaranteed employment at a living wage or you can keep the status quo. Anything else would not be American.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Republicans whine about welfare but march into failed war after failed war at the cost of trillions of dollars. It all such hypocrisy and shallowness

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@Strangerland,

The current president that you like obviously hasn`t done much to help those on welfare. 7 years in, cant blame Bush anymore. Starting private businesses and entrepreneurship should be focused on more.

@Laguna,

Despite large companies hiring large numbers of people it is the small business that hire the majority. Small business cant pay out $15/hr. wages or compete with the MNCs. US economy is too crap. Too much debt, spending waste, huge govt depts etc.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The current president that you like obviously hasn`t done much to help those on welfare. 7 years in, cant blame Bush anymore.

Where have I blamed Bush for this one?

As for the rest of your comment, it's the Republicans who have been blocking any avenue out of poverty. I don't blame that on the president. On the contrary, this administration has at least seen to it that the poor can have health care, and they've also increased employment rates.

Starting private businesses and entrepreneurship should be focused on more.

You realize that if everyone was an entrepreneur, there would be no workers left? The fact is, there isn't enough room in the world for everyone to own a business and/or be an entrepreneur, and on top of that, most people aren't equipped to do so successfully. The world needs workers, and they should be respected because of that.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

You realize that if everyone was an entrepreneur, there would be no workers left?

Strictly speaking, almost any job could be turned into an entrepreneurial activity. Until recent history, almost anyone who wasn't a serf or royalty was an entrepreneur.

Not everyone is good at it, and there are plenty of very good reasons for choosing a job rather than starting a business. But things will continue to get tighter, and easily replaced employees will be especially pinched in the coming years. There will be less and less help coming from the government, as the money simply won't be there.

So entrepreneurial skills are handy. Like learning how to swim just in case the boat you are employed on sinks.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Republicans whine about welfare but march into failed war after failed war at the cost of trillions of dollars.

To give you and everyone else the right to say whatever you want.

It all such hypocrisy and shallowness

Sure, if the GOP would be taking care of people.

As for the rest of your comment, it's the Republicans who have been blocking any avenue out of poverty.

What? They have been trying their best to keep this president from spending more and more of our money, in fact, when he and the Dems controlled all three branches during the beginning of his admin. He went so far, spent so much, it was the catalyst for the creation of the "Tea Party." Obama NEVER tried to cut spending, NEVER tried to create jobs that didn't require a paper hat, add to that the National Debt, of course, the GOP are going to block him every chance they get.

I don't blame that on the president. On the contrary, this administration has at least seen to it that the poor can have health care, and they've also increased employment rates.

What a bunch of BS. Ok, so the poor have healthcare, but people like my sister who was an Obama supporter, voted for him (twice) and now complains about how she's having trouble paying her premiums because they went up almost 180% of what she was paying before and there are thousands that hate it and I'm talking about the shrinking middle class that have the heavy burden of paying for this monstrosity.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

To give you and everyone else the right to say whatever you want.

How does invading a country that hasn't attacked, based on a lie, give anyone the right to say anything?

They have been trying their best to keep this president from spending more and more of our money

They've been doing their best to keep this president from doing anything whatsoever. And that includes anything that may help the poor.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

How does invading a country that hasn't attacked, based on a lie, give anyone the right to say anything.

Lie? Oh, stop. We were attacked long before the Iraq invasion, it has everything from the First World War and beyond.

They've been doing their best to keep this president from doing anything whatsoever.

Obama has gotten pretty everything he wanted, I can make a long list if you prefer, the only thing that the GOP won't give (at least not with a fight) is Guantanamo! Good luck with that one, Obama.

And that includes anything that may help the poor.

Like Tying to make it more difficult for Obama to give away money so easily that could Keep them in the governments pocket, I agree.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Lie? Oh, stop.

WMDs. The biggest lie of the century.

Obama has gotten pretty everything he wanted

Gun control? A single payer plan?

The fact that he has gotten anything with the outright opposition no matter what, shows how good of a president he is. Imagine how much he could have got done had he been dealing with a non-childish opposition.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

WMDs. The biggest lie of the century

But we got Saddam, thank god for that!!

Gun control?

Don't need it.

A single payer plan

Definitely don't need that!!

The fact that he has gotten anything with the outright opposition no matter what, shows how good of a president he is.

No, it just shows what a lame duck he is and the days are coming, dude, I just bought a very expensive bottle of wine the other week and will pop that cork on that final day he is in the air and waves his last goodbye. The nightmare will soon be over.

Imagine how much he could have got done had he been dealing with a non-childish opposition

I shudder at the thought of it, thank God for the GOP then. ROFL

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

But we got Saddam, thank god for that!!

Oh, thank god!! After wasting a decade plus in Iraq, thousands of American lives lost and trillions of dollars spent, we finally got the little gopher! I am sure that Iraqis too are far happier living under ISIS instead. Thank God!

Don't need it.

Yup, 8,150 gun homicides in a developed nation are certainly proof we don't need gun control. Obama pushed for it, and you reject that because somejoe "guns save lives."

Definitely don't need that!!

YES, because if you cannot the immoraly high cost of medical care in the US, you deserve to die a pauper's death. No way a country with publix healthcare could improve improve patient outcome, ignoring, of course, literally every other civilized country.

No, it just shows what a lame duck he is and the days are coming, dude

No, Strangerland is quite right. Name one other president which had opposition literally declare publically, "my number one goal is to stop x." If thats not disgraceful, I do not know what is. Republicans were never interested in good governance, just hatred pure of Obama.

StrangerlandFeb. 24, 2016 - 07:05PM JST

thankyou

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh, thank god!! After wasting a decade plus in Iraq, thousands of American lives lost and trillions of dollars spent, we finally got the little gopher! I am sure that Iraqis too are far happier living under ISIS instead. Thank God!

If you ask the Kurds, Shia and other minorities, yes, they do. As far as ISIS, this admin was advised more than 5 years ago to take action by the Pentagon and they did nothing.

Yup, 8,150 gun homicides in a developed nation are certainly proof we don't need gun control.

You probably don't know that most of the gun homicides are in areas where there are a lot of gangs, most of the bigger states already have strict gun laws, Chicago being one of them and that's Obama's State, does Obama EVER talk about the high Black on Black crime that is destroying that city, No, he NEVER does. He wants to find ways to circumvent the 2nd amendment, but with the out of control Black on Black crime he is always silent.

Obama pushed for it, and you reject that because somehow "guns save lives."

How about Obama addressing the minority communities that overwhelming use guns and have a out of control high murder rate in these communities.

YES, because if you cannot the immoraly high cost of medical care in the US, you deserve to die a pauper's death.

But it's ok to over stretch the middle class that can barely pay for their own premiums, let alone for other people, when before this crap care came out, everyone was fine with what they had. If Obama would have revise the healthcare for the 5 million that DIDN'T have it, I understand, No problem with it, but Obama, Gruber and Emanuel are some of the most vile and hated people on the planet.

No way a country with public healthcare could improve improve patient outcome, ignoring, of course, literally every other civilized country.

We had great healthcare, we just didn't have anything really for the desperate poor, change that, but the Dems were greedy as usual and focused and did all this to get their greedy mitts on the Cadillac tax.

No, Strangerland is quite right. Name one other president which had opposition literally declare publically, "my number one goal is to stop x."

That's because we NEVER had a president that was so hardheaded and refused to work with the opposition. He ONLY did if they followed his way, if it wasn't, he would reject it, not show up often to meet up with Boehner, Obama has one of THE WORST records of any president that is fair and down the middle. One thing about Bill Clinton that made him a decent president was his ability to work with the GOP, Obama doesn't come close. So it's no wonder the GOP doesn't trust this guy.

If thats not disgraceful, I do not know what is.

I agree, so why is Obama doing it then?

Republicans were never interested in good governance, just hatred pure of Obama.

No, Obama just only wants to see his radical progressive agenda flourish and damn the GOP at any cost. And because of his hatred, that has been reciprocated by the GOP. Again, Obama is NO Bill Clinton. At least he was smart.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

That's because we NEVER had a president that was so hardheaded and refused to work with the opposition.

The lack of a single-payer plan on Obamacare exposes this quote for the lie that it is.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh, please, that is the absolute last thing we need.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The necessity is irrelevant. I was pointing out that you are entirely wrong that Obama has refused to work with the Republicans on anything, and gave a glaring example to prove what I was saying.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The necessity is irrelevant. I was pointing out that you are entirely wrong that Obama has refused to work with the Republicans on anything, and gave a glaring example to prove what I was saying.

I'm sorry, he only wanted to work with them provided everything went his way. From 2008 until 2010 the GOP were virtually left out of everything, Obama steamrolled every legesilation through an all Democratic congress. There was No working together at all. There was a reason why the Dems lost congress and why we even have a Tea Party. It is a clear repudiation of Obama and Democratic policies and even after the GOP took control, still Obama on so many occasions refused to meet with Boehner. This has been the absolute worst president when it comes to negotiating on anything. Good and very excited to see him go. Best thing for the country.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I'm sorry, he only wanted to work with them provided everything went his way.

And once again, the lack of a single payer plan proves this to be a lie. Obama wanted a single payer plan, and the Republicans didn't. He pandered to them, and now there is no single payer plan. Because he worked with the Republicans in coming up with the ACA.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Strangerland,

So Obama is responsible?

Everyone doesnt have to be an entrepreneur or run their own business but if you go to uni for four years and study philosophy and then graduate with 50-100 thousand in debt and cant get a job it might be a good opportunity to think about it. Students are studying very useless subjects just for the fun of it and then expect to get a high paying job and be a manager in the first week. Silly. Personal responsibility.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

So Obama is responsible?

If he is pushing for gun ownership by the people, then yes, he would hold some responsibility too. I know he has tried to exact some gun controls, which would make him less responsible than those who push for no gun controls.

Everyone doesnt have to be an entrepreneur or run their own business but if you go to uni for four years and study philosophy and then graduate with 50-100 thousand in debt and cant get a job it might be a good opportunity to think about it.

Maybe. But it takes a certain type of person to take the risk to open their own business, and beyond that, it takes another type of person to be able to run the business successfully.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Strangerland,

The welfare issue.

People can`t complain about not getting a good job if they are studying useless subjects where there is no need.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

What does that have to do with welfare?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I agree, so why is Obama doing it then?

What are you talking about? Obama never said such a thing.

Here again is the quote I am talking about:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-A09a_gHJc

Oh, so its not representing your constituents? Its not working to make America a better country? Classy, enne? And you see how that worked out. So get out of here with this BS that its somehow Obama's fault- the Republican establishment has made it their goal for Obama to fail.

No, Obama just only wants to see his radical progressive agenda flourish and damn the GOP at any cost. And because of his hatred, that has been reciprocated by the GOP.

LOL his hatred. What a laugh. As has already been pointed out, its is the Republican Party, not Obama, who is full of hate. He was elected on a progressive agenda, so it would only make sense to have a radical agenda.
