“Delays in the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, as well as air defense to protect our people, unfortunately result in such losses,”

But the extreme right in the US under the direction of a serial failure and conman could not care one rat's about it because the convicted sexual predator told them not to. They are willing to see democracies around the world be further threatened by expanding fascist regimes. They claim they don't want US dollars spent to protect the notion of democracy, while they send their own dollars to a politician that wants to be dictator like Putin - the fascist, and many of his followers are like their idol in that they refuse to pay federal taxes, at least some of them are honest and admit they do not like the US, they actually want, like their heroine Margie Q Green says, to separate red rom blue states, i.e. see the country broken up like their ancestors who lost the US Civil War, while claiming to be 'patriots'.

comes as Kyiv seeks Beijing’s participation in peace talks that Switzerland is trying to organize.

Zelensky is coming to terms with the fact that achieving his aims by force will be impossible.

Achieving Ukrainian independence by force is still eminently achievable.

By asking China to join, they are de facto asking for a direct conduit to the Kremlin.

Back channel, maybe, but they also know China has the leash around Putin.

Negotiations should happen sooner rather than later to stop the needless bloodshed.

Independence is needed. Don't need to negotiate much to have an unconditional ceasefire.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Sorry, Russians! Ukraine will continue to resist until the invaders are gone from their land. Maybe Russia should try sweetening the pot a little (or a lot)?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

@thubs: Zelensky is coming to terms with the fact that achieving his aims by force

Someone has forgotten that it was Putin, supported by right wing extremists around the globe, that has been trying to achieve his aims by force. If there is to be peace in Ukraine it might come after Putin pulls his baby killing invaders out of Ukraine, and sends them back to mother Russia, where hopefully the Kremlin's warmongers will keep them in Russia and not try to start another war in any other former SSR or anywhere else around the world.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Hopefully this child will recognize their luck, grow up strong, and take down Russia.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Not this kid, though. The Russians had his number. Russia: 1, Kid: 0.

As always, all they're good at those Russian invaders!

Terrorizing and killing civilians!

10 civilians murdered by the Russian terrorist regime!

Among them children as young as 3 months!

PUTAin's Russia is a terrorist state!

739 days so far .... and Ukraine resists!

Ukraine prevails!

All of this death could been avoided on both sides by at least starting negotiations after the “spring offensive” failed.

if not way sooner than that.

It is so sad that "NATO Volunteers" operate out of civilian apartment blocks.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

proxy,

"It is so sad that "NATO Volunteers" operate out of civilian apartment blocks."

any reliable information concerning that claim?

Because if not, then I'd call it more fake propaganda!

Ukraine prevails!

Another stream in the firehose of falsehoods, following the extremist's propaganda playbook. Keep repeating disinformation and suckers everywhere might believe it, whilw buying gold painted sneakers, NFTs or just donating money to a conman.

Do you think it will take more or less than 72 hours for Russia to win?

More murderous activities from the despicable War Criminal - how much longer will it be before someone, anyone, takes the vile coward down.

With the blood of over 100,000 dead people on his hands, why on earth is he still allowed to be free to continue this barbaric war, let alone be in charge of a country, which he has now turned into a pariah state.

about local community standards there should be no exception as all of us have follow rules-and posting vulgar words here is no kosher at all.

Yes, but what I was asking was:

Do you think saying something bad about someone is worse than dropping a bomb on their home and executing their entire existence?

Speaking at a news conference, Fidan said that such a move would not mean recognizing Russia's occupation of parts of Ukraine.

Here I was thinking the Turks supported Russia

Terrible, almost as terrible as the double standards we have to put up with the reporting between this conflict and the conflict in Gaza. How many mothers clutching the dead bodies of their children have been recovered in Gaza? How many still lie missing under the rubble.

Glad you aren't using the direct Kremlin talking point but the only acceptable outcome is independence for Ukraine. Putin has not indicated he is ready for that so the war continues.

They are trying to both sides it. Can't say that is a positive but there needs to be someone that Putin still picks up the phone for.

I guess technically, slavery to a dictator is sort of peaceful...

Meanwhile, if Russia wants peace, they don't even need Ukraine's agreement or effort to get it. They just turn around, and go back to their own country. And just like that, peace!

Yep good point, some of the same pro military industrial complex posters who rage about the Ukraine casualties (RIP) are fully supporting the White House sending more bombs to IDF to kill Gazan civilians by their tens of thousands and blocking UNSC ceasefire resolutions. Multiple times more kids killed in 2 weeks in Gaza than in 2 years in Ukraine. All civilians casualties in all wars are horrible. All out efforts are needed to secure ceasefire in the current conflicts instead of prolonging them. Arms manufacturers and their servants have made enough profits already.

Several Abrams tanks (including the breacher variant) have been knocked out over the last few days.

If, as you claim, Ukraine has suffered 100k killed or more, add that in and see how it compares to Gaza.

Nothing about benefiting the arms manufacturers is relevant, what is relevant is securing Ukraine's independence from the horde state.

*Ukraine Can’t Win the War** - The long-awaited counteroffensive last year failed. Russia has recaptured Avdiivka, its biggest war gain in nine months. President Volodymyr Zelensky has been forced to quietly acknowledge the new military reality. The Biden Administration’s strategy is now to sustain Ukrainian defense until after the U.S. presidential elections, in the hope of wearing down Russian forces in a long war of attrition. https://time.com/6695261/ukraine-forever-war-danger/*

That right there is an indication what actually transpired.

Not sure about the US as a whole but for the neocon warmongers and their arms manufacturer buddies sure, forever war is a win for those, absolutely. Hence they oppose realistic ceasefire talks starting, as is plain to see.

Nice try at twisting people's words there. My priorities, stated consistently, is seeing ceasefire in both Ukraine and Gaza asap so that no more lives are wasted. I merely pointed out the laughable assertion that arms manufacturers profits are not relevant in conflicts especially for certain parties which try to delay ceasefire attempts.

Every life is important..

I fully agree with that. So it also makes one wonder what your priorities are when you say that but also advocate for " a forever war where Russians are dying" as being good for the US.

"A U.S. source denied there had been any official contact and said Washington would not engage in talks that did not involve Ukraine."

One US source being "unaware " does not mean it didnt happen. Quote from Reuters -

Intermediaries met in Turkey in late 2023, according to three Russian sources. A fourth diplomatic source said that there had been Russian-U.S. unofficial contacts through intermediaries at Russia's initiative but that they appeared to have come to nothing. The U.S. official said he was unaware of unofficial contact through intermediaries.

According to three Russian sources, Putin's signal was relayed to Washington, where top U.S. officials including White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met. The idea was that Sullivan would speak to Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, and set out the next steps, one of the Russian sources said.

But when the call came in January, Sullivan told Ushakov that Washington was willing to talk about other aspects of the relationship but would not speak about a ceasefire without Ukraine, said one of the Russian sources. The U.S. official refused to be drawn on any details of Sullivan's purported calls, or whether such a conversation with Ushakov took place.

It’s going to get worse . . . thanks to Putin and his Republican supporters in the U.S.

Interesting the combat photos show the sturdy Soviet D-30 field gun - a proven performer. Think the three photos of the mortar are mislabelled 122mm (which is the previous weapon), when it's 120mm. Think it's the MP-120 series but with their alphabet soup of weapon systems over there can't be sure.
