The own-goal DNA test really makes me question her judgment. IDing as a Native American doesn't help matters much. I've always liked her but I suspect most progressives will turn to someone like Sanders or Sherrod Brown when the races heat up. And I still can't get over how she sat out the 2016 primaries, fearful of alienating the Clintons. If you're a real progressive, endorsing Bernie was the only possible option. She played it safe, worried about her own future.

Of all the Democrats in the field, Warren is one of the ones I like least.

First off, she's not very charismatic. I don't care about her gender, but she's as boring as watching paint dry. A President needs to be able to reach out to the people, and she just... doesn't.

Second, she's basically a Hillary Clinton clone/follower in her policy actions. While Hillary is a great upgrade over the resident in the White House right now, that isn't saying much. But Warren is more of the same. Lots of talk, not much action.

She continues to focus on this 'middle class' idea, when the reality is lots of people, especially in the so-called 'Rust Belt' are thinking about working class, blue collar jobs.

Third, she just can't seem to stop shooting herself in the foot with the whole Native American thing.

Fourth, and this is the biggest thing to me: She's the wrong generation. The 2016 Election should have been the final big 'bout' between the Baby Boomer Generation, and it was. The Anti-War Protester vs. The 80's Icon.

But what both candidates in 2016 suffered from is a failure to see the world as having evolved since, about oh, 2000 or so. Elizabeth Warren is the same thing. She thinks and acts and creates policy ideas from a Baby Boomer perspective.

Well, here's what Gen X and onward is saying: STOP IT. The Baby Boomers, the most self-centered, self-aggrandizing generation in American history, have spent close to 50 years making the country all about them and screwing it up for the most part along the way. They've demanded every party kiss their tuchus as they've moved through the American timeline like a gall stone, and scorching the earth behind them.

The Democrats have shown this, as the Baby Boomer generation (Pelosi, Schumer, Clinton, Warren, et al) have hamstrung and cut the legs out of the Gen X and Y people coming up after them, to the point that the Democratic field looks like an AARP convention, and the Democratic leadership the same.

Even now, with the Millenials saying "F this, we're going to make our voices heard," Pelosi's doing stuff like trying to keep AOC in line or minimizing AOC's voice to make sure that Pelosi herself and the Baby Boomers keep the sway.

So Warren, as part of that generation, needs to go. Her views are out of date, her policy is out of date, her thinking is out of date. Let her and every other post-retirement Democratic candidate be passed like the blockages they are, and let a new generation of leaders take over.

Portraying yourself as something you are not, to get ahead in politics, is not the way to get elected!

3 ( +7 / -4 )

First off, she's not very charismatic. I don't care about her gender, but she's as boring as watching paint dry. A President needs to be able to reach out to the people, and she just... doesn't.

hey that’s highly inappropriate and offensive!!!!!!

watching paint dry is quite a rewarding experience!!

watching paint dry is quite a rewarding experience!!

Only if it's the right paint, bones. And only if you're getting the full... olfactory experience.

Sanders garnered tremendous support from the youth of America last run, so much for the above analysis by Mr. Varnes which is clearly incorrect. It is ideas that generate support, not an age bracket. Sanders had ideas that the youth found compelling and if he had been allowed to win the Democratic nomination he would be President now because of the youth turnout. He also would have exposed Trump for the loser he is in the election process, something Hillary was unable to do, but even Trump supporters can easily see now.

Warren is the real deal. She has walked the walk from her days as a Professor to her work for the Obama administration. Anyone who just barely looks at her record can see that. Of course is you are sexist it does not make any difference what the record may be.

Last, who needs charism? The current occupant of the WH has that in a twisted way and how is that working out?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Are people so desperate for a female candidate that they're willing to support a liar and fraud? Her claims that she was Native American are as offensive or more as blackface - she is a racist pure and simple. Anyone who supports her supports racism and identify appropriation.

We need someone who can win in 2020.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

We need someone who can win in 2020.

For example?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Why all these people nobody has heard of? Famous tv/movie stars(Oprah etc), or even give Gordon Ramsey an American passport would be better. Come on America, you only have a choice of red or blue...if there is no apple pie on the menu, you are stuck with ordering the turkey again.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Nope.

Boring, shrill, economically misguided, hypocritical and dishonest on her background. (Btw, I’m voting Democratic). Nope, unless she is the nominee against Dotard, hard nope. Even then, I’d hold my nose and take a shower after.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Meh.

Setting aside the whole native Indian debacle, she will not inspire very many people to come out and vote for her.

2020 is not going to be 2016 for Democratic Party candidates and, while this may sound harsh, the idea that a 70 something white candidate will win the nomination is probably not realistic. Some say Uncle Joe could beat Trump, but, again, I just don't see him inspiring the base in 2020.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

America's Insultor-in-Chief weighed in on Twitter:

See you on the campaign TRAIL, Liz!

Ha ha! Get it - TRAIL, as in the Trail of Tears, a genocidal act by early Americans where the forced relocation of Native Americans from their ancestral lands led to the deaths of thousands of people. Gee, that's hilarious, President Trump.

Warren is past her prime, and I suspect she does not expect to win, but running gives her a voice, one that ushered in the new field of youngsters in her mold.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The system is rigged? Where have we heard that before. All left leaners denied that already.

Plus if it’s rigged for the rich and powerful, that’s the group she is already in. Strange messaging.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Dems have no chance of winning now that they refuse to force accused assaulters of women and racists to quit high level jobs. trump will destroy any nominees on that issue.

Sinply saying “I asked those people to resign but they didn’t” won’t be sufficient. The nominee will be the one who can forcefully take action that makes those type of people quit. Then you have someone who might have a chance.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

There's no way she's going to get the nomination. Way more likely is Kamala Harris.

We need someone who can win in 2020. ( the general election )

For example?

Donald Trump.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

ROFL! She will never, ever, ever be President. The hole she dug for herself is so deep, they don’t have rope on this planet long enough to pull her out. Warren that train left along time ago, but give us some laughs, we all really need it.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

I’ve said this before but if it looks like Warren has why chance at all to win, they will replace her with Hillary.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Warren has already torpedoed any aspirations she had of winning the keys to the White House by endorsing the 29-year-old bartender and newly elected New York House legislator's half-baked "green" plan that includes ending jet travel and cars along with other things like air conditioning and heating systems.

Warren's campaign slogan should be: Make America 1492 Again

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Many similar comments made about Trump when he first announced. Somehow he won as he figured out how to ignite the republican base using racism and simplistic slogans. Warren has faced long odds before, beating that loser Scott Brown in MA despite Wall Street money pouring in to support him.

The odd comments from the winger crowd show they are afraid, very afraid of Warren. She is the real new deal.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Way more likely is Kamala Harris

Once her background comes to light she will fade. She is not supported by Californians for her presidential run by pretty wide margins.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The odd comments from the winger crowd show they are afraid, very afraid of Warren.

I am literally shaking in my boots!

She is the real new deal.

I thought AOC was the real new deal...

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Warren's campaign slogan should be: Make America 1492 Again

Already taken by Trump campaign.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Great news for the Trump 2020 campaign team! MAGA!

2 ( +7 / -5 )

but give us some laughs

Do you think she has any side-splitters on the level of building a wall and getting Mexico to pay for it? How about non-existent sex tapes? Birtherism was too filthy to be funny.

Her claim about her ancestry was a stinker. Really unpleasant. Not a good candidate.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

CrazyJoe,

Are people so desperate for a female candidate that they're willing to support a liar and fraud? Her claims that she was Native American are as offensive or more as blackface - she is a racist pure and simple. Anyone who supports her supports racism and identify appropriation.

However only 8 days ago you defended Warren and wrote this about people criticising her for claiming to be Cherokee:

How ridiculous! Anyone is free to get their DNA tested if they so desire.

The orange dotard challenged Warren to prove she had native-American blood, and she did. (Btw, he reneged on his promise to pay $1million to charity – true to form.)

Her DNA is her DNA – she can't change it. She never claimed to be part of a tribe, so in what way did she undermine tribal interests?

https://japantoday.com/category/world/democrat-elizabeth-warren-apologizes-to-cherokee-nation-for-dna-test

What caused you to do a complete 180 on this issue over the past week? You seem to be deeply conflicted and confused.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

@jcapan

If you're a real progressive, endorsing Bernie was the only possible option. She played it safe, worried about her own future.”

There is nothing new about this strategy. She was waiting for the right moment.

In fact, this strategy worked marvelously for Illinois Senator Barack Obama. He was invited to add the prestige of his office to a bi-partisan group trying to reform politics in Cook County (Chicago and a few suburbs). He declined to join them thus guaranteeing that he would benefit from the Chicago machine’s proven ability to get out the vote for Democratic candidates. That’s how he won a US Senate seat ... and the rest is history.

So, give Liz a break.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

@jcapan

We need someone who can win in 2020.

For example?

A potato should be able to beat Trump at this point. If you re-elect Trump, you deserve what you get and the rest of the world will leave you behind.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

@zurcronium

Warren is the real deal. She has walked the walk from her days as a Professor to her work for the Obama administration. Anyone who just barely looks at her record can see that. Of course is you are sexist it does not make any difference what the record may be.”

”Of course is [sic] you are sexist ...”

Why not “racist”?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@zurcronium

“She is the real new deal.”

@Serrano (in response)

I thought AOC was the real new deal...

No. AOC is the new, fresh face. (Never seen EW dance, but I hazard to say that she’s nowhere as good as AOC) Accolade confusion abounds.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Texas A&M Aggie

“Warren's campaign slogan should be: Make America 1492 Again”

I thought that was AOC’s slogan what with all those innovative Green New Deal proposals ...

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke would be the best ticket for the Dems in 2020. That's where I'd put my money.

Once her background comes to light she will fade. She is not supported by Californians for her presidential run by pretty wide margins.

I don't think her hardline prosecuting will have that much negative impact in the long run.

I like Warren, she's got the clearest focus of any of the candidates, the most specific policy agenda, but the cultural heritage thing will unfortunately sink her chances.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

So far the Democrats haven't put one credible candidate forward plenty of dreamers pushing the same old socialist line - higher spending , higher taxes and open borders.

The Democrats are so deluded by pushing the feminist agenda they have forgotten about the best candidate, the best policies and common sense.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Andrew CrispToday 01:31 pm JST

So far the Democrats haven't put one credible candidate forward

Hillary Clinton wasn't all that inspiring but she still won the popular vote. Of course what most people think constitutes a credible candidate doesn't always necessarily matter in American "democracy."

plenty of dreamers pushing the same old socialist line - higher spending , higher taxes and open borders.

Is that all you think socialism entails?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

I saw that the other day:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GocMPEQHaA0

She seems like a compulsive liar

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

She really makes the Democratic Party look bad. The most fake personality the Dems could wish for.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke would be the best ticket for the Dems in 2020. That's where I'd put my money

Your betting on Beto and the Democrats will surely lose the election again.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

How about Senator HulaHoop Hirono?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Whomever is the next leader of our country, I just hope they don't screw the middle-class citizen, like Trump has done with his so-called tax cuts (for the rich). We in the middle-class are seeing our refunds disappear, and actually many of us have to pay some. This is due to the fact that Trump's tax law has taken away many of the deductions that we depended on to increase the amount we could've expected in our refund. Getting less money per year to me, is definitely not winning.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Getting less money per year to me, is definitely not winning.

Well at least your healthcare costs haven’t went up.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Enough of this criticism of senator warren.

people are underestimating her. She didnt make this decision to run without powow with trusted advisers and even spending time in the sweat lodge to seek guidance from great spirits.

question is who will be her running mate?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Who was President during the TRAIL of tears?

“Martin Van Buren (/ˌvæn ˈbjʊərən/; born Maarten Van Buren, December 5, 1782 – July 24, 1862) was the eighth president of the United States from 1837 to 1841. A founder of the Democratic Party”

Knowledge of history is your friend.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

We need someone who can win in 2020.

Desperate!??

I think the fact that they are putting people like Kamala Harris with her track record and mind boggling antics in the pot is a clear indication of just how desperate they really are! We need another alternative besides Hillary 2.0!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

The Democratic Party of van buren is more akin to today's Republican Party.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

yes it is, whenever you want to cover up the bad things you did like this and founding the KKK. How convenient.

That’s not us, that’s someone else who used the exact name we use today. So why didn’t you change the name of your party to distance yourself from these people?

let me guess the Republican Party of Lincoln is more like the Democratic Party of today too? Yet Dems wear blackface, so that’s out.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

AOC is the new, fresh face. (Never seen EW dance, but I hazard to say that she’s nowhere as good as AOC)

Elizabeth Warren can probably do a rain dance pretty well, but AOC is for sure the better overall dancer. Warren might be able to chug beer better though.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I think even Trump supporters accept that Trump is judged by lower standards.

Warren is seen as unacceptable by most here, including democrats, yet on the racism front, Rump could teach her a masterclass.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Warren has faced long odds before, beating that loser Scott Brown in MA despite Wall Street money pouring in to support him.

The odd comments from the winger crowd show they are afraid, very afraid of Warren. She is the real new deal.

No, the comments show without a doubt she’s a racist or more like (closet) one, she knowingly took advantage of an endangered time, mocked them and tried to pass herself off as them and the more she tries to give clarification, the more pathetic she looks. Her chances of becoming President is as high as me becoming one

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Hillary Clinton wasn't all that inspiring but she still won the popular vote. Of course what most people think constitutes a credible candidate doesn't always necessarily matter in American "democracy."

No, the comments show without a doubt she’s a racist or more like (closet) one

The difference seems to be most people here call out what she did.

Trump supporters seem to have no problem with his history of refusing to rent to black people or retweeting dodgy videos from racist groups.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

liberals have lost any ability to call Trump racist, sorry. Clean your own house of racism and cultural appropriation. You can start in Virginia.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

liberals have lost any ability to call Trump racist, sorry. Clean your own house of racism and cultural appropriation. You can start in Virginia.

So you're saying that the Democrats should expel their own without question, what the extreme leftists would have them do? But, when it's your people, you defend them until the end of all time - the right-wing thing. Why are you preaching extreme left-wing solutions, you're not left-wing, neither are they solutions you preach when it's a right-winger. So your stance on this is quite confusing. Again, why are you preaching extreme left-wing ideology?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Unfortunately, I think just like with Hillary, the right has poisoned Warren's name beyond the point where she is a viable candidate.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

liberals have lost any ability to call Trump racist, sorry. Clean your own house of racism and cultural appropriation. You can start in Virginia.

Fair point. Do you think the blackface guy should be thrown out? How about the one who refused to rent to black people and retweets dodgy videos from a known racist group?

I’d say the latter should go first.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

American politics is so mental & corrupt that it has become a pissing contest as to who can be the most mental & corrupt. Real politicians are so thin on the ground that Americans are forced to pretend that people like Trump are in their corner, when they are in fact the corner they pretend to oppose. Who would elect a billionaire and expect him not to protect his billions? Such gullible people.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

It was liberals who tried to ram the “believe all women” and “no due process” down our throats. So live with your rules now that it applies to your team.

all you have on Trump is something in his “youth” and some retweets? Nope the Virginia Dems, all 3 of them go first. Once the Republican takes over we Governor then we can discuss that you actually care about the rules you try to apply up others.

Until then, hypocrisy rules from your side.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Warren missed her chance in 2016. She could have been the one Hillary screwed over instead of it being Bernie. Just zero charisma.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

By “something” do you mean not renting to black people?

By “some tweets” do you mean retweeting dodgy videos from known racists while in office as President of the US?

I’m asking simple questions which you are avoiding. If the guy in blackface should be thrown out, wouldn’t the same apply to Trump?

If Warren’s behaviour precludes her from running, shouldn’t Trump’s behaviour have precluded him?

For what it’s worth, I think the guy in blackface should go, not least for his slimy dishonesty in dealing with this.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Uh, the blackface photos you've manufactured outrage over arent from today.

It was liberals who tried to ram the “believe all women” and “no due process” down our throats.

I’m a liberal and I certainly wasn’t ramming these things down your throat. I think you may be speaking of the monolithic boogeyman liberal you’ve invented in your mind rather than myself and those like me who live in the real world.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I think you guys are confusing running for President with getting on the Supreme Court.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The difference seems to be most people here call out what she did.

Trump supporters seem to have no problem with his history of refusing to rent to black people or retweeting dodgy videos from racist groups.

Because you can’t unequivocally say it was racist. Color has nothing to do with it, the left have been trying so desperately to peg Trump as a racist without knowing anything of how NYC was like in the late 70’s early 80’s the crime rate, drugs, mafia and prostitution and particularly the majority of Black gangs dealt in drugs were affiliated with the Colombo crime family. I can’t blame Trump from no wanting them to stay either, especially so many dealers were squatting and using his properties or adjacent surrounding one’s to slam, squat and sell drugs, regardless they’d been Black, White or Green.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Unfortunately, I think just like with Hillary, the right has poisoned Warren's name beyond the point where she is a viable candidate

Viable????? Hmmm....interesting. Lol

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

It's not possible to "do the same thing regardless of skin color" when Trump was denying rentals to people based solely on their skin color. Logic failure number 333,097,184,489,935 and counting.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

on the racism front, Rump could teach her a masterclass.

How you figure? Specifics and facts, please.

My dear Serrano, you have stumbled on an entertaining way for the candidates to distinguish themselves. A televised chugalug contest! Gentlemen and ladies (and those who self-identify as neither), place your bets!!!

I think you guys are confusing running for President with getting on the Supreme Court.

Har! I gave you a thumbs-up for that one, Jimizo!

I named my Jeep "Elizabeth Warren". It is white but says it is a Cherokee.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

You say that and are almost always proven wrong.

It's not possible to "do the same thing regardless of skin color" when Trump was denying rentals to people based solely on their skin color.

Not true at all, especially when you lived through it and seen it as a kid. Again, liberals will make that claim, I would beg to differ on the events of those days. But I understand liberals are for open borders, the legalization of drugs, so I’m not surprised they would have empathy with the dealers.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

you can’t unequivocally say it was racist

Not renting to people because of their race? Turning people away at the door because of their race?

Yes bass, that is racist.

I probably would have done the same regardless of skin color.

You would probably have refused to let to black people regardless of skin colour?

How does that work, then?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

People can beg to differ all they want and trot out as many personal anecdotes as they have, but Trump denied rentals to black people based on the color of their skin - a circled B on the applications. Full stop.

Anyone who says they would do the same thing, attempts to make it not about skin color, or excuse this behavior are ignorant beyond the point of hope.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Not renting to people because of their race? Turning people away at the door because of their race?

Really, cleo? You had to go all the way back to 1973? Heck, even Crazy Joe has implored us to forgive youthful mistakes.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

on the racism front, Rump could teach her a masterclass.

How you figure? Specifics and facts, please.

I’ve already mentioned Trump’s history of refusing to rent to black people and his retweeting of dodgy videos from a known racist group.

For the latter, let me give you the specifics and facts on what happened. Trump retweeted dodgy videos from a racist group in the UK ( the leader of which was later imprisoned ). The UK PM, Theresa May, understandably rebuked Trump for giving this racist fringe group worldwide publicity. Trump, rather than apologizing for this revolting behaviour, threw his potty in a tantrum. It later turned out he threw the potty at another woman called Theresa May on Twitter.

The whole thing was an absolute circus of racism, trash and plain stupidity.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

The whole thing was an absolute circus of racism, trash and plain stupidity.

Which is what we expect from Trump and his boot-lickers.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Jimizo, is that all you've got? A twitter spat between Trump and Theresa May?

If Trump is so racist, how come he has more black support now than Romney had?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Jimizo, is that all you've got? A twitter spat between Trump and Theresa May?

The twitter spat is incidental. Don’t be disingenuous.

Trump retweeting dodgy, I repeat dodgy, videos intended to malign people from a known racist group is the issue.

Would you do that? I have enough respect for you to know you wouldn’t engage in that kind of filth.

I think anyone who did would probably deserve to be thrown off this forum.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

All the way to the nomination Liz!

(I'm sure she'll win her in own state - Cherokee nation.)

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Not renting to people because of their race? Turning people away at the door because of their race?

Yes bass, that is racist.

I don’t think so Cleo, given the circumstances at that time. So say they would have been white doing the same thing, then what? Would that be racist as well? Sorry, but the area where this happened was a Colombo crime family stronghold and the Italians didn’t want to risk the chances of going into these neighborhoods, so they needed someone that knew the culture and from the same background, Frank Lucas was that man

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I always liked Warren, not necessarily for President, but she does a great job of keeping corporate fraudsters in check like Wells Fargo. It was classic when she hauled management in before Congress and they tried to tell the world it wasn't their fault that they were scamming their customers.

She also had companies explain how they were telling legislators that new laws would kill them financially, yet were sending out the opposite message to their investors, the ones they have an obligation to be truthful to. So were they lying to Congress or lying to their investors?

She does a lot to fight for the working class.

Of course the GOP will tell their working class that she is a socialist or chant Indian slogans at her after all she's done for them because...well, that's the only message they were given. Their loss.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

People can beg to differ all they want and trot out as many personal anecdotes as they have,

Ok, that’s how you see it, I don’t and seen it personally, so we will have to disagree.

but Trump denied rentals to black people based on the color of their skin - a circled B on the applications. Full stop.

You can’t prove that either way, Full Stop!

Anyone who says they would do the same thing, attempts to make it not about skin color, or excuse this behavior are ignorant beyond the point of hope.

And there are others that want to remain in the abyss of denial that they would have a double standard if that person were White.
