By giving the evangelical extremists everything they wanted, but which the majority opposed, Trump made a critical error and it has been shown time and time again the critical factor in the GOP's pretty disastrous electoral performance.

Trump is now trying to distance himself from it by saying that he approves of abortion, but women know that if he wins again, the theocrats will do everything in their power to limit women's access to reproductive healthcare.

This brings some critical states into play like Florida and Texas.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The Florida ruling makes it one of the most restrictive states, prompting Biden -- only the second Catholic president in US history, after John F Kennedy -- to warn that many women do not yet know they are pregnant at six weeks.

"Yesterday's extreme decision puts desperately needed medical care even further out of reach for millions of women in Florida and across the South," he said in a statement.

This is great news for Democrats. Reproductive rights are driving turnout and turning red states into blue.

The evangelical right have really shot themselves in the foot.

Fifty years ago, evangelicals supported reproductive rights, and Catholics were against it. How things have changed.

Biden, a Catholic recognises that his views on abortion are his own and that people have the right to decide for themselves.

Florida is going to have abortion, pot legalization, and a MAGA senator on the ballot in November. Things are going to get spicy in in the Sunshine State!!!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The majority of Americans support abortion rights. Even the majority of American Christians support abortion rights. Let each state decide, Floridians would vote to protect abortion rights.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Alabama banning IVF was good, because it exposed supporters of banning IVF and other rights. As the year progresses, the Democrats will be hitting anti-abortionists hard, and calling them out for their anti-American behaviors.

Abortion is the most winningest item the Democrats have ever had as an election year issue. The women in the country don't appreciate having their rights taken away, and a bunch of old men in SCOTUS being concerned with their reproductive rights.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Let the Dems run on abortion and the Trump fear. That’s all they have.

Trump will focus on the issues that the majority of Americans are deeply concerned about.

You mean himself and his bruised ego.

You mean himself and his bruised ego.

Not his, what are you talking about? ROFL

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Trump will focus on the issues that the majority of Americans are deeply concerned about.

Abortion? He should.

But being the big baby he’ll instead find some celebs to attack or whine about how mistreated he is.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

what are you talking about? ROFL

The man’s only focus is himself and his very needy, fragile ego.

Me, me, me! I’m the greatest president in history. And more persecuted than Jesus Christ!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Republicans have struggled to stake out a definitive position on the issue, and were punished in the 2022 midterm elections as candidates lost key battlegrounds to rivals supporting abortion rights.

Trump cultists will argue these candidates lost because they weren’t MAGA enough.

Be more extreme, Republicans! Do it for your Don!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The man’s only focus is himself and his very needy, fragile ego.

I would say, the left are way too focused with Trump and their egos get bruised every single time he slips through another nutty noose they setup for him.

Me, me, me! I’m the greatest president in history. And more persecuted than Jesus Christ

Well, that’s how the establishment feels about itself. I mean, the money, the power, the cabal in DC

Abortion won’t keep your streets safe, your nation safe, abortion won’t put food on your table, abortion won’t pay your bills, keep your home, stop squatters from seizing your home, it won’t save or protect your money, nor will it protect your national sovereignty.

But they keep women safe. And unaffordable children prevent from being able to pay your bills and keep your home and feed your family.

If you think people are worried about the things you speak of over their own personal households, you have a biiiiiiiig surprise coming November. You'll be just as surprised as they were down in Alabama last week.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I personally am OK with the Republicans thinking abortion is not an issue this November. Let them think it. Try to get them to think it for that matter.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

6 weeks is too early and most women are not aware of being pregnant. Terminations are 15-20 weeks unless the mother is in danger.

Trump trying to sit on the fence because he knows for many women it's an important issue.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump will focus on the issues that the majority of Americans are deeply concerned about.

The daily dose of MAGA comedy.

Trump can rant about a woke virus and Marxist far left Dem deep state but most Americans realize it does not exist.

Inequality in health care is an existential crisis for many Americans.

Abortion? He should.

Yeah, but he’s not. He made his point on where he stands

His ‘position’ depends on what it will get for him. He has already changed his view on abortion several times. If he realizes the fundamentalist Christian voter base are a dwindling minority it’ll already be too late to flip again.

The daily dose of MAGA comedy.

Crime is comedy now, eh?

Trump can rant about a woke virus and Marxist far left Dem deep state but most Americans realize it does not exist.

They’re not even thinking about that! Lol

Inequality in health care is an existential crisis for many Americans.

Thats not even in the top categories of immediate concern for Americans.

Yeah, the left are trying to bait it, hasn’t worked and won’t work, he’s learned and that’s to his advantage. Let the Dems run on it, that’s all they have.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Abortion? He should.

Yeah, but he’s not. He made his point on where he stands

Indeed he has - he is for permitting abortions up until the 15th week...

You have said consistently that life begins at conception and that any abortion performed after that is "killing babies"....

So do you still hold that view that life begins at conception or do you now support Trump and his killing of the unborn?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

“Republicans have struggled to stake out a definitive position on the issue, and were punished in the 2022 midterm elections as candidates lost key battlegrounds to rivals supporting abortion rights.”

Sure Bass, abortion rights isn’t a concern or key campaign issue. You go with that.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Inequality in health care is an existential crisis for many Americans.

Thats not even in the top categories of immediate concern for Americans.

If you think so I doubt you are American.

Or one so out of touch like Trump you have no comprehension of what working Americans face.

that’s how the establishment feels about itself.

That’s right. The establishment feels it is the best president in history.

We’re off to a good start this morning.

—Be more extreme, Republicans! Do it for your Don!

Yes, yes! Do it for your nation

Per the article, most of the nation does not want to go full MAGA or full evangelical white nationalist.

Most of the nation is not rural Alabama.

More luck to ya if you think otherwise.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

more Americans name immigration as the most important problem facing the U.S

Ergo, no other issue is important. Women will be glad to have their reproductive rights overturned by evangelical theocrats as long as the government starts separating immigrant families and gets Mexico to pay for a big, beautiful wall.

You have said consistently that life begins at conception and that any abortion performed after that is "killing babies"....

I already answered that last week.

So do you still hold that view that life begins at conception or do you now support Trump and his killing of the unborn?

I gave that answer as well.

So help refresh our memories and let the folks who didn't tune in last week know...

Still believe life begins at conception or is it OK now to kill the unborn?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

More American women support terminations than those who oppose it.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If you think so I doubt you are American.

100% born, bred, USDA

Or one so out of touch

No, that’s why I moved to Texas.

like Trump you have no comprehension of what working Americans face.

I’m from an upper-class working family, of course I know.

That’s right. The establishment feels it is the best president in history.

Not the establishment.

We’re off to a good start this morning.

I agree

Per the article, most of the nation does not want to go full MAGA or full evangelical white nationalist.

Is that why the Dems want open borders?

Most of the nation is not rural Alabama.

Nor is it California or NYC not by a long shot!

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Medieval conservative MAGA gang wants to take away the rights of all minorities in the USA and turn the country into a 19th century white conservative christian utopia..

0 ( +2 / -2 )

An issue the democrats can hammer in the remaining months up to November.

Judging from the polls and recent election results, people don’t like being dictated to by theocrats.

Nor should they.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Again, the left can run on abortion, that’s the only thing they have.

That's correct, Americans don't care about abortion. Keep on focusing on your other issues. It's safe for you guys to ignore abortion, I promise.

This week, talking with some of the younger members of my American family, those in their 20s cannot understand or relate to Trump and Biden. A couple of old men. Including those in Congress where the median age of voting House lawmakers is 57.9 years. Senate’s median age, on the other hand, is 65.3 years.

That's great and all but hopefully they understand that sitting the election out is half a vote for Trump: the MAGAs will never sit out an election.

All well and good but weird that a candidate very popular amongst the young and much older was shut out by both party machinations in the duopoly.

Where did I say they would not be voting? Don't jump to your conclusions. They do know the seriousness of the elections and will vote for Biden because there isn't another choice.

Abortion won’t keep your streets safe, your nation safe, abortion won’t put food on your table, abortion won’t pay your bills, keep your home, stop squatters from seizing your home, it won’t save or protect your money, nor will it protect your national sovereignty.

But it will keep you from being impoverished by an unplanned pregnancy. And since MAGAs have no plans for each of these other things, the choice is clear.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Digging deep now, eh?

Why don't you dig up an answer to this...or is it too tough to answer?

Still believe life begins at conception or is it OK now to kill the unborn?

American politics are broken.

This may be wiser than attack his beliefs in God. I do believe he found God in his late life. « Never condemn a sinner who want to do it right and forfeit his past sin, unless yourself you have never failed and never sin. ». There are crimes that even god can’t forgive, but I do believe Donald Trump is a man of faith today. We all live it differently. At his level, there is a lot more freedom than for a beginner. He is a very astute man. And God have saved worse than him.

The problem is that Mister Biden can’t muster as much as faith as he does. It is hard to lie about your faith in America.

And for abortion, this is the choice for the woman and not the church. The church can advised but the choice is for women to make. They have lost all credibility since earth goes around the sun and not the opposite.

Given the young people feeling the need to have a protest vote on Gaza and not too clear on matters of politics, I am forced to assume they will do things not in their best interest in November. Glad to hear your relatives are smarter than that.

Thanks for the comedy. Trump clearly hasn't set foot in a church in decades. He is true to his faith of hedonism I guess, though.

It seems Texas Republicans have staked out their definitive position on abortion. They want to change Texas law to consider any attempt to end a pregnancy murder and punish women who either have an abortion or use certain drugs that they consider to cause a fertilized egg to perish with the death penalty. Nice people you Texans.

There aren’t going to be many split tickets. Very few if any are going to vote for women’s reproductive rights and also for the adjudicated rapist responsible for taking them away.

Biden is a man of faith. Trump is not.

It is hard to lie about your faith in America.

Then why do you believe Trump's lies?

And for abortion, this is the choice for the woman and not the church.

Agreed. And not the state.

Yes, I think so. And the ironic thing is, even with all the billions of dollars, Soros is pouring into that state, nothing is changing. Again, Texas will hold on to their positions when it comes to abortion, they can do that and Trump will focus on the border.

So you support charging women who have an abortion with murder and executing them?

10 ( +10 / -0 )

In every state where limits on abortion have been on the ballot, those ballots have failed.

In every state where measures to protect abortion rights have been on the ballot, they have succeeded.

Every. Single. One.

For example, in Red Red Kansas where the orange blob won by 20 something points. A ballot measure was put out to overturn abortion rights shortly after Dobbs.

The ballot was intentionally put on the primary rather than the general election ballot. This was done to prevent independents and unaffiliated voters from participating (Republican registration exceeds Democratic registration by a margin of about 5:3). Furthermore, putting a measure on the primary ballot is designed to target only the most partisan voters.

AND…..

The ballot was intentionally vaguely titled and worded.

In order to protect abortion rights one had to vote “no” on the measure.

It was in essence an effort to suppress and deceive.

And in Red Red Kansas, it got slapped down by 20 points.

it lost in urban districts. It lost in rural districts. It lost in minority communities (yes, we do have them few though they are). It lost in white districts. It lost in Suburban purple Johnson County. It lost in Bible thumping Wichita.

So keep on ignoring women (and the men that don’t think of them as property), GQP.

You’re expanding the map and not in a good way (for you anyway).

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So you support charging women who have an abortion with murder and executing them?

Cue “they can move to another state if they want to kill babies”.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The GQP is exposing the lie that they “just want to send it back to the states”.

Now they want a national ban.

The GQP wants to turn the United States into the Hand Maiden’s Tail, but the women of America and the men who actually care about them aren’t having it.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

This GOP public waffling on this issue shows how electorally perilous anti-abortion measures are.

Perhaps if Trump would just say clearly what the GOP/MAGA/QAnon platform is, the whole flock would fall in line.

It’s going to be a political calculation on Trump’s part, because 1) he doesn’t care about other sentient beings, and 2) he probably loves the idea of abortions. For very selfish reasons.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

This is strictly a privacy issue between a woman and her doctor.

Why would anybody want to force themselves onto others, unless they’re someone like Trump.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

And it wasn’t just KS. OH TN and a host of red states have slapped down abortion restrictions as well.

But leave it to an adjudicated sex offender and his religious zealots to be on the wrong side of an 80/20 issue.
