So again, I got my facts straight, please get your facts straight and tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The whole truth is that you cut and paste the bulk of your post from an August Forbes opinion piece by one of their contributors. Any ethical person, journalist or otherwise, knows that don't try to pass anyone else's work off as your own by failing to properly attribute it. A quote or three is one thing, but you've lifted a fair amount of his work.

All that plagiarism and you still missed the point: Most of the top 10 states taking Federal money are RED states.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Traditional democratic voter base don't turnout for the midterms -- mostly old people, with a splattering of crazy activists who wear tea bags on their hats, and folks who have complete collection of "KILLING --- " series by Bill O'Reily turn out for the mid terms. So quit your nonsensical dribble.

Dribble?? LOL. Yeah, I know the anger is getting to you libs, but you can rejoice in that Obama is still president, at least for the next 808 days, so enjoy while you can and get your fill.

Follow California news much? California's economy is growing again after bottoming out 5 years ago. And seriously, what is your beef with California?

Most of California has been taken hostage by the looniest of liberal loons, that's my beef! Jerry Brown, twice?? Are you serious??

But Ok, so here are the real facts.

On some parts you are right, but on others and again, like most liberals skate over the obvious truth to fit your version of narratives.

California has more than 38 million residents. Despite net losses of millions of residents to other states, California continues to grow through immigration. Latinos now equal the number of non-Hispanic whites in California. With projections that show California’s population reaching 45 to 50 million within 20 years, you would think job creation would be job one for Jerry Brown. Sadly, that is not the case today. Despite a much-heralded recovery in the media and by Governor Jerry Brown, California still has one of the nation’s highest unemployment rates. Also, more than 30% of the nation’s welfare recipients are Californians – even though California has just 12% of the nation’s population. It is not surprising, therefore, that California is ranked number one in poverty.

The cause for those bad statistics is bad government policy. California is the most regulated, highest-taxed, most in-debt state in America. According to government data, from the municipal to the state level, California governments have more than $1.1 trillion in debt – much of that tied to pensions.

Beyond debt, Governor Brown recently signed a huge tax increase featuring a top rate of 13.3%. Overall, California taxes are 42% higher than Texas. California also has the most extreme/job-threatening global warming law in the world, which includes a 15-cent gas tax increase slated to take effect in 2015 – on top of the already record gas prices.

High debt, high taxes, high regulations and high poverty are not exactly the foundation on which to add 7 to 12 million people. California’s private sector needs an economic recovery far more robust and broad-based to absorb those new people. Unfortunately, California continues to make bad decisions with long-term implications. Perhaps worst among them is Brown’s decision to make high-speed rail a higher priority than water. Over the last 7,000 years, California has endured droughts that have lasted up to 20 years, according to Scott Stine, a professor of geography and environmental studies at Cal State East Bay. California is in year three of its current drought, which is projected to result in economic losses of $2.2 billion to California agriculture in 2014 alone according to a UC Davis study – not to mention the loss of over 17,000 jobs. Unlike his father Edmund G. Brown, Sr., who focused on water, Jerry Brown would rather see $68 billion spent on high-speed rail – a project for which there is no significant consumer demand and, like most every rail system, will likely require endless public subsidies and therefore add to the debt crisis. Brown recently killed a proposed water bond of $11.4 billion because he said it would “break the bank.” Apparently $68 billion won’t break the bank, but $11.4 billion would.

Instead, after California Republicans fought for a greater emphasis on water storage, Brown agreed to a bond that spends $2.5 billion on water storage – a figure woefully short of what is needed. Obviously, Brown thinks high-speed rail is 27 times more important than water storage.

California’s debt crisis will hobble its economy as well. Even Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel was honest enough to say that pension debts were deterring businesses from locating in Illinois. In California, despite what some say could be more than half a trillion dollars of public employment retirement-related debt, there is literally no concerted plan for addressing the issue – tinkering yes, real reform no.

Unless California addresses its long-term water needs and debt crisis, the already overburdened private sector will not be able to handle the coming population influx. Instead, California’s welfare rolls will swell, adding to its debt crisis.

In 2009, California sent out IOUs to creditors when hard pressed for cash and borrowed billions from the federal government. A decade from now it could be much worse. Rather than leading the national economy, California could well be holding down America’s economic growth.

So as still registered resident, I do know what's going on.

California, unlike most RED republican states, actually pay in to the federal coffers. Most RED STATE (excluding Texas) are WELFARE STATES of the federal gov't and leech off the Fed's programs and money. Get your facts straight!

Yeah, Texas gets their money from sales taxes among Beef, Oil and other mostly agricultural goods.

Texas is home to 51 billionaires, third-most in the country. While California churns out tech billionaires and New York mints finance fortunes, Texas pumps out oil tycoons. Still, more than half of the state’s billionaires come from industries other than energy.

So again, I got my facts straight, please get your facts straight and tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Orange County, CA. is a safe haven from all the looney liberal madness that plagues that once seriously beautiful state and I hope it stays that way for years to come. It's the ONLY clean and safe place to be if you want to raise a family in that state.

@Bass4funk Some of us watch Faux News for the laughs. It is wall-to-wall at that network.

I feel the same exact way about virtually every liberal outlet, at least I have a smorgasbord of liberal nutty junk to choose from.

After all the Democrats rely on the young and minorities which are not the most "informed" citizens.

I know you just didn't say that!! Seriously? we still have 5 months until April 1st! Lol

Actually the data shows the most uninformed voters are fox news viewers who are old and white and basically clueless. Like you can see above in the many inane posts.

And which poll says this? When I was there, they had atheists, liberals, gays, multi-cultured and, oh...by the way...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but....

As of October 28th, 2014

FNC beat CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewers and the key cable news adults 25-54 demographic for total day. FNC also far surpassed the competition in primetime (8-11PM/ET) as well, with The O’Reilly Factor, The Kelly File and Hannity beating CNN and MSNBC combined during their respective timeslots. In all of ad-supported cable, FNC was the only network to rank in the top five in both day parts among total viewers. In contrast, neither CNN nor MSNBC were able to crack the top 30 and 25 in prime (8-11PM/ET), respectively.

I guess there are a lot of dumb 25 and over people out there or shall we say, 90 million dumb viewers. ROFLMAO

Additionally, FNC is marking 154 consecutive months as numbers one in total viewers in both total day and primetime. The network claims the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers for eight consecutive months since March ‘14. FNC also claimed nine out of the top 10 programs based on Adults 25-54.

If the republicans win the senate it will be via huge amounts of spending via the SCOTUS giving billionaires control of elections plus voter suppression in many states again via the SCOTUS. Remember the SCOTUS gave the election to bush in 2000 when he lost the popular vote by 550,000.

No different than the Hollowweird, silicon big $$$ contributers and let's not forget the prince himself: George Soros.

So I would say, the playing field is fair now.

The fact is the america wants democratic policies that makes their lives better.

If that were true, the Senate wouldn't be up for grabs and every Democrat would win by a landslide, but do we need another reality check? I do think so...

Nearly seven in 10 voters are angry at the direction the country is headed, a CNN/ORC International poll indicates. And 53 percent of the poll’s respondents say they disapprove of President Obama’s job performance.

The poll’s results may be troubling for the Democrats prior to November’s midterm elections, as they try to keep a Senate majority and stem losses in the House where they are currently outnumbered by Republicans 234 to 201. The GOP needs six seats to win a Senate majority, with a number of polls indicating they are close to doing just that, and gaining full control of Congress.

The poll indicated 68 percent of Americans were either “very” or “somewhat angry” over the country’s leadership while 31 percent said they were not angry at all. CNN said anger could send GOP supporters to the polls like they did in 2010, when polls indicated similar emotions. Only 26 percent of self-identified Democrats told CNN they were “very” or “extremely enthusiastic” about voting this year, while 36 percent of Republicans said they were.

The only places where a majority of voters held a positive opinion of Obama’s job performance were the Northeast (51 percent) and urban areas (60 percent). The states that will determine the Senate majority are in other areas of the country, however, such as the South, where three Democrats are campaigning for re-election, as well as the Midwest and West.

In other words, "Bernie Sanders" territory

Democratic seats in Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia are expected to be won by Republicans, meaning the GOP only needs three more seats to take back a majority.Only 13 percent of Americans approve of Congress while 85 percent disapprove.

But republicans use propaganda effectively to make voters vote against their own self interest. Like in Kansas.

How so? They have been shut out of the political field when the Dems first took office, they controlled all 3 branches of govnernment, they blew it, big time and what happened 2010, the Tea party was born, gave rise to it and the Dems lost. And it looks like history will possibly make history again. Everything that is happening is because of failed liberal policies, it's the Dems own greediness that has got them in this predicament. The Republicans just sat on the sideline and watched this wreck happen in SloMo.

@cleo

McCain would have been another 'let's bomb everyone' president, not even the American voter wanted that after 8 years of Bushy Boy. Why could Felix the Cat have won? Because anyone who wan't Bush and who wasn't likely to carry on Bush's policies could have won. That was no reason for McCain to choose the ah-cain't-keep-my-own-family-in-order-but-ah-shor-do-like-killin'-things Palin joke as his running partner.

I was more than that. Obama was a new fresh NO experience law professor and a community organizer with virtually NO experience. The last 4 presidents were governors and had a go at the wheel. Obama was a big experiment and the first African American president. The people thought it would be neat and cool to show the world, we are a multicultural nation and we have renounced our racist past and we are ready to give this guy a chance. You had thousands of fresh new voters that came out and voted for the first time in their lives and all of of these liberal nut feed kids ran out and voted for the guy. And the result, a complete disaster. The last 6 years have been the worst since Carter. But this too, shall pass.

I understand perfectly well thank you, don't need you to remind me, it was Baby Bush who made America a laughing stock (remember How can 59 million people be so dumb?) and Palin who confirmed world opinion. Anything Obama did to make things worse, he did standing on the shoulders of giant clowns.

No, not at all. Eveverything Obama did to make himself and this country a laughing stock, he did all by his lonesome. Obama is the one that made this country a laughing stock and while we have to pay his salary for another 800 days, the least, the very least this joker can do is true to govern and work within the system instead of trying to change America to be more like Europe. If I wanted to be like Europe, I would have moved back years ago.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So what do you call Obama's last 6 years, "the Golden years?" And besides getting OBL with the help of Bush and his infamous and questionable Obamacare, but putting the Kool-aid aside for a moment, what will Obama be remembered for? Besides racking up the deficit (which is just the tip of the iceberg)

Are you really putting aside the Kool-Aid? From the looks of things, you have a funnel and hose by your side.

To evaluate any president's time in office, the first reasonable question to ask is: What did he inherit from his predecessor? And, to be fair to Bush, we'd have to ask what he inherited as well.

When Bush took over, the government was running a surplus. That's right, a surplus. Remember? (Fed Chairman Greenspan was actually cautioning the nation on the dangers in paying down the national debt too quickly. Bush sure fixed that.) The economy was cooling down after one of the biggest sustained growth periods in history, and America was generally at peace, with two intact World Trade Centers.

What President Obama inherited from Bush and his boss, Cheney, was a pure and utter debacle. Two very deep pits from where the WTC stood, confidence in the financial system utterly compromised, an economy in shambles, and two wars place on the credit card. The first time in the nation's history was no attempt made to raise funds to pay for the massive military actions. Heck, Cheney told the nation that wars would practically pay for themselves.

Heckuva job, Bushie.

With a record like that, it's no wonder that you won't keep that Kool-Aid hose out of your mouth for too long.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Republicans will have to run on an anti-Obama ticket since they have no accomplishments over the past 6 years. What could they legitimately point to? I've asked that questions many times here and have gotten no responses.

Obama may be in the mid-40s but Republicans overall would love to get their hands on that kind of rating.

They are in the form of the midterms, otherwise there wouldn't be such a Godzilla panic. It's the LOW numbers the Democrats have that should have them shaking in their boots.

But Republicans, if in control of both houses of Congress, will be under severe pressure to govern

Yes, and the president will be under even more pressure to play fair ball and meet with The GOP on Key issues, if Clinton and HW Bush could do it, since the anointed one is smarter than all of them, surely he can muster the fortitude to be just as fair and open minded as they were, putting all partisan politics aside. But I know that's a mountainous task for Obama, because that would mean a commitment.

Right. That pesky "govern" thing. They can pander to their base with catchphrases such as "taking back America" and "ending the socialist nightmare" but that only works if they are in the minority. There is still so much infighting in the GOP that it's hard to see how they could govern their way out of a paper bag.

Did you know virtually all of the Dems that are campaigning don't want the president to get within an inch of their presence? Some won't even utter his name for fear of it being recorded and used against them.

There is always a chance that they can change and form unified platform on important issues, but that would take courage. And why stick your neck out when you can repeat the same old phrases and hopefully keep your job.

Worked for Obama, twice!

Republicans are more focused on winning battles and losing the war and 2016 won't be any different.

The Democrats won and did nothing, absolutely nothing....No, they did. They screwed everything up.

Just about everyone agrees that the GOP has a problem with women and minorities.

That is THE biggest crock of BS! The problem with Democrats and race is, Democrats hope and wish the Republicans would have a problem with women like in Louisiana race with Mary Landrieu had to stoop so low in an attempt to gain traction in the polls and what is the last tool in their arsenal? When all else fails, haul out the race card, which she did and which it also seems to be backfiring. But what else would you expect from Desperate Democrats?

That's why the White House is a pipe dream. Will their takeover of Congress change that? Or will they keep going down the same road? That's the real question. If they use this midterm election as some kind of validation of their platform then I think we know the answer.

Actually, we don't. Of course the Republicans can screw things up, it wouldn't be the first time, but considering what the country has been through the last 6 years, that record of Obama's would be a tough one to catch up to. Even Carter as bad as he was is starting to look like a Saint, literally!

@laguna

Forgot to mention, in addition to the very likely government shutdown, the strong possibility of a constitutional crisis should a Supreme Court member retire. No Obama appointee will receive support from a certain group of Repubs. What would happen if this group were large enough would rip apart the GOP.

Of course NOT and vice versa. The president is always going to appoint a judge that shares his ideology. I'd do the same, so I'm not going to give Obama grief on that. Because if we had a Republican in the WH, without a doubt, he would appoint another conservative. You have to be on some serious whacky tabaki if you think that the Dems would nominate a conservative to the Supreme Court bench, it's NOT going to happen, dude, seriously, how partisan can you be?

...oh, and the whole "impeach Obama" thing. Rabid rightists will not back down from this notion, particularly as Obama relies more on executive action. How will the GOP react?

He can do that, but if he oversteps his executive powers, I guarantee you, the Dems can completely forget 2016.

(By the way, whatever happened to Boehner's lawsuit against President Obama? Funny story, actually.)

The same thing that happened to Obama and Holder's trumped up baseless charges and feeble attempt to try Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.

'Actually the data shows the most uninformed voters are fox news viewers who are old and white and basically clueless.'

To be fair, the intellectual 'heavyweight' at Fox, O'Reilly, opined that the 'white establishment' is now the minority in the US after Fox went into hissy-fit meltdown when Obama thrashed Romney. Even he knows the days are numbered.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The fact is the america wants democratic policies that makes their lives better.

Let me polish that statement a bit: I believe most Americans want to see policies that support the improvement of their lives, and the lives of their children and grandchildren over the long term.

Those policies are not "magic," but are derived at through a heavy dose of the scientific method. Over the decades, despite all evidence, we've had conservatives telling us that it's perfectly OK to put lead in paint and gasoline; perfectly healthy to smoke tobacco products, A-OK to erect nuclear reactors; DDT? -- no problem!; greenhouse gases? What, me worry? Oh, and not to omit the immortal thoughts of Chairman Reagan, who insisted that trees were a prime cause of pollution.

They are still pushing the same dope today, obviously. Unfortunately, the main opposition party has not been able to mount an effective counter-message -- probably because so many of them are on the take too.

That's why the 'pubs don't believe in climate change right? Or they believe in the fanaticism of Ayn Rand with no evidence. Some people only learn when their house is underwater, both figuratively or literally.

This election comes down to 2 things: low voter turnout and a large number of Democrat seats up for grabs. Republicans in the bubble will point to victories as evidence that the US is finally breaking their way, but approval ratings for their party are still at historic lows. Obama may be in the mid-40s but Republicans overall would love to get their hands on that kind of rating.

Well you are not understanding this, let me remind you that after Bush left office Felix the cat could have won, there was no way McCain was going to win. He was part of the Last admin. Establishment. It was a slam dunk for the community organizer. He had his chance, did more damage to the country that will take another decade to repair. The sad thing is, Obama wasn't even funny, more like the Grim reaper at the 11th hour. But we still have 804 days left.

What? (enmity, the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something)

Enemies, pardon. Typo

@jim

There are lies and damned lies.

Don't tell me, tell that to Obama, about time some told him the truth!

The most perfidious lie in my lifetime was the WMD lie which led to a disgusting, sickening bloodbath. As long as Bush and Blair are alive, this must never be allowed to be forgotten and they must be prosecuted.

Well, that will never happen and thank God for the sanity that prevailed, since Holder and Obama knew they had no leg or proof to stand on, but at the same time fearing that if it came to the point that they (Obama and Holder) could possibly be liable to being prosecuted on any number of issues they rammed down the American people's throats, Karma has a very bad way of catching up to a person, they knew it could backfire and dropped it. Remember, everything the Dems are doing to the Repubs, the exact same thing could happen them when they get back into power. That's why the Dems dropped the charges.

'Vegan eating' Come on, Bass. I know you hate Liberals but calling them cannibals is a bit extreme.

I don't hate liberals, I hate the kook aid drinking, Oz dreaming liberals.

@laguna

Percentage-wise, zero. This fact (and it is a fact) did not prevent the GOP from shamelessly using the specter as an excuse to introduce "Jim Crow II" in a desperate attempt to remove as many eligible Democratic-leaning Americans from the roles as possible.

Let me shut this down by saying, the party of so called tolerance used the word "race" threw the accusatory word of "racism" around as if it were confetti. Democrats take the award of THE most racist party ever. Second, what ever happened to Lois Lerner? Hmmmm....

We'll see what happens Tuesday, but if the GOP does pull it out, they'll have to govern and not simply be against Obama.

The same goes for Obama governing with the GOP, that'll be the real kicker.

There has been precious little discussion of GOP ideas in this campaign. No alternative to Obamacare. No plans for immigration reform.

Not important now, we need to seal off the border first and then we can talk about reform.

Plenty of complaints about the (plummeting) deficit, but no concrete proposals. Lots of vague comments regarding "restoring American primacy internationally'" but no specifics.

That's the presidents job. Oh, now he wants input from the GOP he purposely ignored for the last 6 years?

A part of me hopes that they do win so we can see how the likes of hardliners such as Cruz and Graham deal with Republican moderates - and all this running up to the next presidential election. Can you say "government shutdown"?

So what are lasting Obama accomplishments lasting? And don't even start with OBL and Obamacare.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Their was voter fraud, to what extent...?

What's a road scholar? Maybe they have no money cos they spent it all on cars?

the US became the laughing stock after the Sainted anointed one was elected

Not by a long way. Baby Bush and the Palin had that job all wrapped up long before then. Hours of rib-tickling fun, they provided. Pity about all the blood.

do our enmities fear us

What? (enmity, the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something)

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Well, who could rival the intellectual giants of the GOP states such as Kansas, Texas and Alabama? I lived in Texas.

I'm from California, the vegan eating liberal moon bats have all the intelligence, but the inability to govern, it takes a lot for a state that once had the 5th largest economy in the world to become a total wreck, not to mention a basket case and let's not forget, California cities have filed more bankruptcies than any other state.

The Tea Party aren't exactly bursting with PhDs either. It was after all the GOP who had Sarah Palin running as VP, making the US the laughing stock of anyone with an IQ larger than their shoe size.

Every liberal and I mean, hard leaning progressive liberals that shouted to the rooftops that they are road scholars always had a lot of brain and NOTHING in their pockets to show for it, maybe that's the reason why they became liberals in the first place, all those years of studying made exhausted them mentally and financially and they have NO other choice, but to rely on the government for assistance. Now I get it, it's all coming back full circle.

Correction, the US became the laughing stock after the Sainted anointed one was elected and thought that his overbearing superior intelligence would bridge the gap between the US and Muslims, it didn't, he thought Obamacare would solve all of the nations medical problems and everyone would love it (and you could keep your healthcare) but they didn't, he pulled us out of Iraq and said that "Al Qaida" was defeated and they weren't. He said that ISIS is NOT a threat, but they are. Obama said, he would address the national debt and yet, he didn't, do our enmities fear us, NO, they do not. Assad, Putin and the Ayatollahs are all laughing at this president, sure he's likable, unlike Bush, right, but then again, Bush was hated, but his enemies feared him and his friends respected him. Bush wasn't perfect, he made many mistakes, but at least he cared about his country, unlike this president that cares ONLY about one thing and one thing only, he can't see beyond his party and the next election, the people are tired....lie after lie after lie....

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

' After all the Democrats rely on the young and minorities which are not the most "informed" citizens.'

Well, who could rival the intellectual giants of the GOP states such as Kansas, Texas and Alabama? I lived in Texas. Well-informed isn't an expression that sprang to mind. Try a science class down there. The Tea Party aren't exactly bursting with PhDs either. It was after all the GOP who had Sarah Palin running as VP, making the US the laughing stock of anyone with an IQ larger than their shoe size.

LagunaNOV. 03, 2014 - 10:06AM JST Because it is not what the majority of Americans want.

You'll recall that the Dems did receive a majority - by some 500,000 votes - in House elections in 2012. The GOP gained seats due to Gerrymandering.

Maybe the majority of votes in 2012. Their was voter fraud, to what extent...? The minorities voted for a Black president. In some voting districts 100% Obama. The American public is lazy with voting. The majority would be different if all turned out to vote.

The problem is Democrats NEVER learn or even listen to what the masses want and this is the result and they are absolutely shocked that people hate all of their failed policies and to be shocked is in itself insulting. How and why would Democrats EVER think their policies would not undermine everything Americans worked so hard to build in our nation without the interference if big government and now that government apparatus system has gotten way out of control, now they feel they deserve another chance to set things right?

The people have had enough and are tired of empty talks and lies this president keeps spouting again and again. The president was supposed to bring clarity and transparency to the White House and with his presidency put and end to racism once and for all and Obama has done the exact opposite. Race relations are at an all time low. Minorities are suffering more under this president than any other president. Harry Reid has been a complete partisan lap dog for the president and that is one reason why nothing ever gets done and it's about time, the people put him where he belongs: in retirement where he can do NO damage to anyone else.

Again, the Dems could retain power, but from the way it looks there is a chance for a real change to take place and get these Dems out of the senate to get back some control over this country.

Because it is not what the majority of Americans want. The house tries to contain the devastatingly destructive decisions from this administration. If you recall, they were misled into passing Obamacare only to discover how bad it really is. Along with the billions of dollars lost to "Green Energy" someone needs to maintain the spending a bit.

"If Republicans dominate in the Senate races, Obama likely will hear the death knell ring for pushing major Democratic-backed legislation through Congress for the final two years of his presidency. But he’s already had almost no success with Congress since the 2010 elections when Republicans gained an unassailable majority in the House"

How is this even possible?

Goes to show you how wonderfully fantastic the current administration has done. And the divisive hate speech coming from the Democrat advertisements. And you gotta love the opponents sign stealing in the middle of the night.

More and more I see these people as angry selfish racists with a national death wish agenda.

The outcome a couple days away, I could be wrong as I was thinking a second term for Obama was possible a couple years ago. We will see. After all the Democrats rely on the young and minorities which are not the most "informed" citizens.
