Shouldn't it be religious rights, and not women's rights?

Women have every right to choose how to dress.

As long as it's their choice and not dictated by a husband or religion.

but, now whats justin trudeau gonna wear when he visits Denmark?

This is not the role of the government to tell people how to dress.

If the women is forced to dress in a certain way, it's a not a problem with the clothes themselves.

No one should be telling women what they can and can't wear.

Hopefully they were finally liberated from the death shroud they have been forced to wear .... as they left after the vote....

I cannot fathom how any defender of women's rights can possibly defend this medieval treatment of women. Modest dress is one thing ... the burqa is dehumanizing of half the population.

Black bloc anarchists also hide their faces when demonstrating ... More and more European countries will follow.

The government shouldn't dictate what a person can and can't wear. If a woman wants to cover herself up, that's her choice. And we've seen that Muslim women like to wear these garments and are ( for the most part) not forced to do so

Wouldn’t it be a wonder if the Muslim women really chose to wear the coverings instead of being dictated to by their religious male zealots?

There isn’t any need to hide women away in Denmark nor for them to hide.

Denmark is a mordern enlightened society which must allow freedom of expression.

Giving in to medieval norms based on outdated concepts is certainly detrimental to any European society- not just Denmark.....

It's a religious right that's denied only to women, so it's both.

Irrespective of the particular religion, I support a woman's right to subjugate herself through oppressive religious choices.

A very difficult thing to prove. What’s your evidence for saying this?

I actually don’t like the idea of the government telling people what they can’t wear but there are Muslim-majority countries which ban this garment.

The fact that there were multiple instances of Muslim women trying to sue against laws like this. From France's band to Australia's ban

Australian politicians need to follow the Danish Government.

Multiple instances doesn’t mean Muslim women ‘for the most part’ wear this through choice. Neither do Muslim women or ex-Muslim women who talk about the pressure to cover up prove most are pressurized.

It’s very difficult to make the kind of judgement you are making.
