The suspect ... was also killed"
"Good, he'll never hurt or kill anyone else," says's Sarge, not being a believer in the idea of "innocent until proven guilty."

@Mocheake- Obviously A PRINCE of a country visiting another country can be considered World news. Obviously the gang "wars" in Mexico and the thousands of people dying including policemen and foreign tourists is of interest to the Global community. You are only making KaptanKichigai's point for him. One man killed in the line of his countries or State's domestic duties does not constitute WORLD news by any definition and certainly does not pertain to Japan in any way.

America has a lot of messed up places, never been to St.Louis but some how I get the feeling it must be a dump. It is easier to focus on only the violence south of the border, in Mexico, Colombia etc..but believe you me, the USA has plenty of violence, druggies, etc...RIP Deputy Marshal and when will America really get tough on crime? Against drugs etc..??
WhiteyRocks
Another deputy marshal 31-year-old Theodore Abegg, a three-year veteran was shot in an ankle A three-year veteran? Is this an oxymoron, or am I the moron?

It's not really world news, it's just a hot point. Police. Guns. References to children inside the house. A hostile crowd. Lots of angles here. You have the pro/anti-gun crowd, the nutters who just hate police, the foreigners who want to talk about violence in America, etc. It's mostly a money grab by JT to try to get more messages posted.

Why does this news stand out enough to be "world news"? Many people are killed in the line of duty, so why does this man deserve so much coverage?
Mocheake
So, is the "news" that Prince William is going to visit NZ pertinent? He's neither a diplomat nor world leader. How about the policemen who were killed in Mexico? Doesn't impact the global community, does it? I'd say if you don't think a story is pertinent you don't have to read it.
Kaptankichigai
@smithinjapan- The beef is that there is an article like this every week in the US news. But I am not reading the US news. I am reading "JAPAN TODAY". It is pretty self explanatory what the beef is. The concept of "WORLD" news means incidents that happen in the world that are pertinent to the Global community such as the uprisings in Egypt and Libya. I think it is extremely self evident that this is NEITHER of those things. I dont need to read my US news on JT. I have Google US for that. As do you. You usually have very intelligent opinions. I was a bit surprised at your post.

Nor do all the murders in Mexico, religious clashes, etc. really have any implications on the world at large. It is however a sad reflection on morbidness of the media, and the world at large.

This is awful, RIP to the cop just doing his job. But, doesn't this kind of thing happen in every city in the USA daily? IMO - the cops should have set the attack dogs on the scum hanging around after the heinous crime. No loss.

Thank god it wasn't Raylan Givens! He's my favorite US Marshall.

Anyone who knows anything about America knows the pathology of the underclass in cities like St Louis and wouldn't even have to ask...

taj: "I must agree with killdamessenger. This story is not about Japan. Neither does it have any "world" news implications."
I'm not sure what beef people have with this story being published. True, it's not about Japan (hence it's under 'world'), but correct me if I'm wrong in saying it TOOK PLACE on this earth, and as shootings often do has made the news. Protests in Winsconson aren't all the world-shattering either, and yet I've seen none of the same complaints.
Anyway, tragic that the officer died, and even more 'tragic' that the bystandards around the place reacted as they did. Was there any basis for it, aside from them clearly not liking police?
Sarge
"The suspect ( wanted on drug and assault charges ) was also killed"
Good, he'll never hurt or kill anyone else, plus it saves the taxpayers a bundle.
plasticmonkey
Well, they must be. For one reason or another there is some serious disharmony in that area. When cops get killed it's a tragedy that goes deeper than the incident itself.
taj
I must agree with killdamessenger. This story is not about Japan. Neither does it have any "world" news implications.
MrDog
These bystanders are scum.

"As police began to disband, bystanders began shouting obscenities at them. Some officers used police dogs to keep the angry spectators at a distance."
???
I wonder why. Did the police start by firing while neighbors were warning that there were kids in the house? Was this Boles fellow really, really well-liked? Are the police THAT disliked? What made the crowd so concerned and then angry?
Harry_Gatto
"Dozens of spectators gathered for hours after the shooting outside Boles’ home, braving cold rain..........."
Get a life!
killdamessenger
is this an accidental article? why is this on JT? seriously....
