“I did not see the comment,” DeSantis, the governor of Florida, said on CNN's “State of the Union.” “And so, I know that Elon has had a target on his back ever since he purchased Twitter because I think he’s taking it in a direction that a lot of people who are used to controlling the narrative don’t like.”

That's a complete cop out. He knows the comment can't be defended, but he also knows that many in his base are antisemitic and would agree with the comment.

I thought he was an expert on Twitter and Musk. He spent a lot of last year threatening legal action, launched his shoddy campaign on it, claims to be friends with Musk. Now he knows nothing? Spineless cop out.

Some people criticize the Japanese attitude of ' see no evil, hear no evil' but from Reagan onward the GOP has really leaned into this dodging accountability.

Musk like DeSantis is trying desperately to right his fortunes, Musk may have more luck getting conservative freeze peach lovers to give up their CC details for his Super app.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

but from Reagan onward the GOP has really leaned into this dodging accountability

Yeah, the left have zero room to talk about dodging accountability, the absolute last people to opine on it.

I’m not going to speculate if the man knew something or not, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Hard to say for me, I think if he did say that, apologize and be done with it.

-21 ( +1 / -22 )

Desantis is weak.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

Just another stupid flub in a campaign that has been a series of flubs...

I always like to see DeSantis articles since it forces our MAGA-friends here to call Trump a liar when he says all those nasty things about their "rock-star"...

And the people of Florida are finally realizing they elected a Loser...

https://www.npr.org/2023/11/16/1213355557/desantis-florida-president-candidate-voters-trump

At least he doesn't have that goofy forced smile on his face in the pic above...

13 ( +14 / -1 )

If there was any doubt that MAGA-world is infested with anti-Semites, this should finally put that to rest...

Nick Fuentes dinner dates at Mar-A-Lago, MTG and her "Jewish-funded space lasers", now Musk and his hate-filled tweets....and DeSinking not having the guts to stand up to them...

One more example that DeSantis is a DeSaster...

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Some people criticize the Japanese attitude of ' see no evil, hear no evil' but from Reagan onward the GOP has really leaned into this dodging accountability.

id actually take that a step further and say that the present day GOP are astute students of one Shinzo Abe. It was Bannon who called Abe Trump before Trump.

The screenshots from leftist “Media Matters” appear to be fake.

Would be dumb of them to even try that on Elons app and his servers that he had logs for. Let’s see how the lawsuit goes against the “media”

-15 ( +3 / -18 )

Abe and his followers were a full 4 years ahead of the GOP in the established political norms destruction game.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Media Matters made musk agree with an antisemitic tweet and call it “actual truth”?

Also have you read the letter X tweeted regarding the lawsuit they intend to pursue today?

Maybe X’s best option is to have a ‘flood’ and lose the logs.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Is condemning anti-Semitic crap ‘woke’ these days?

Just trying to find an angle from DeSantis here.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

This is playground level.

Then don’t throw stones.

Media Matters made musk agree with an antisemitic tweet and call it “actual truth”?

I would take a grain of salt what that disgusting organization says, they have caused so much social and political damage to peoples lives and careers on the right for years, if I were Musk I wouldn’t buck an in inch especially if I believe I’m innocent.

Also have you read the letter X tweeted regarding the lawsuit they intend to pursue today?

Maybe X’s best option is to have a ‘flood’ and lose the logs.0

Naw, hash it out, let them prove it and show intent. Should be interesting.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Is condemning anti-Semitic crap ‘woke’ these days?

Just trying to find an angle from DeSantis here.

dont think he sees it as “woke” tbh.

he just doesn’t want anything to do with it because he knows lots of his people agree with Musk. Aka, yeah, total cop out. If he really hasn’t seen it, that’s because he’s going out of his way not to see it.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

The left doesn’t deny or condemn anything. But a Trump did it too is as far as they go.

Here is just their typical “gotcha” pattern they use against conservatives.

wasn’t there anything more relevant or insightful to ask DeSanris?

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

I’m having a hard time following you Bass…

so Musk is being slandered by being accused of promulgating a theory you yourself openly subscribe to and have bluntly stated is true?

13 ( +15 / -2 )

I’m having a hard time following you Bass…

I see.

so Musk is being slandered by being accused of promulgating a theory you yourself openly subscribe to and have bluntly stated is true?

A theory that I am not sure if he believes to be true or not, don’t want to speculate. I’m not a torch and pitchfork emotional type of guy.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

To Bass and Blacklabel, if Musk spoke what you deem as truth, commend him for speaking what you deem as truth. But what is also truth is that advertisers are under no obligation to finance your promulgation of your truth.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

The left doesn’t deny or condemn anything. But a Trump did it too is as far as they go.

??????

Here is just their typical “gotcha” pattern they use against conservatives.

It's almost always the conservatives who "got" themselves...

wasn’t there anything more relevant or insightful to ask DeSanris?

Sure - Gov DeSantis, how do you feel about Trump calling you a "groomer of high school girls" and that you've filled Florida with "misery and despair", turning it into "one of the worst states in the US"?

Or how about; "Gov DeSantis, who's view is correct, Trump when he says the COVID vaccine is "safe and it works", or RFK Jr when he says it is "poison"?

Or maybe; "Do you think Putin is a "genius" and Xi a "strong leader"?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

But what is also truth is that advertisers are under no obligation to finance your promulgation of your truth.

We shall see if they they’ll hold out. Should be interesting.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

The only hope for DeSantis was if polls showed him beating Biden and Trump wasn’t.

Trump beating Biden like 8 polls in a row. first time in history of NBC poll that Biden unlikability more than Trump.

ruhroh Shaggy!!

So no point of DeSantis running.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Media Matters made musk agree with an antisemitic tweet and call it “actual truth”?

I would take a grain of salt what that disgusting organization says, they have caused so much social and political damage to peoples lives and careers on the right for years, if I were Musk I wouldn’t buck an in inch especially if I believe I’m innocent.

As usual you don’t seem to have read up enough on the issue at hand. There is no debate here. Musk tweeted it himself.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

So no point of DeSantis running.

oh, there is a point…a disingenuous point but a point nonetheless.

he’s publicly defending Trump while privately praying Trump gets convicted.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Oh my god. A tweet!

how dare he!

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

As usual

What are you talking about?

you don’t seem to have read up enough on the issue at hand.

I always do

There is no debate here.

Because you say so???

Musk tweeted it himself.

But you don’t know what or how he interpreted that remark. You can speculate all day but you can’t peer into the guys head or heart when it comes to motive or intent. No amount of huffing and puffing will change that.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Trump gets convicted, MAGA votes go to Ronnie (he hopes,) he wins the presidency (he hopes,) and then gets to be the Hero who pardons Trump.

there is certainly a point Blacklabel

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Trump gets convicted,

He’ll pay a fine.

MAGA votes go to Ronnie (he hopes,) he wins the presidency (he hopes,)

It probably won’t get that for for Ron and I like the guy.

and then gets to be the Hero who pardons Trump.

Absolute worst case scenario.

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

Because it’s not about his tweet.

it’s about leftist “media matters” manufacturing false screenshots showing advertisements next to questionable content.

then using that to shame woke companies into canceling advertising.

why? Business interference because Elon dares to let both sides speak. Plus Daddy Xi of TikTok was just in town to give his orders.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

it’s about leftist “media matters” manufacturing false screenshots showing advertisements next to questionable content.

well Blacklabel I guess you can just hope that none of the PR departments at any of those woke corporations took their own screenshots before pulling advertising.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Will Trump pay a fine if found guilty in one of his four criminal cases?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

They didn’t. They looked at the screenshots Media Matters created using fake accounts.

Even this article oddly and falsely claims they advertisers stopped because of Musk’s tweet. They did not, they were publicly pressured by media based on fake “evidence”

So that they don’t have to address Media Matters getting sued. You really think Elon can’t prove this, when he owns the company?!

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

he owns the platform. You think he wouldn’t know what they did?

“Media Matters created an alternate X account and deliberately followed sensitive accounts to curate posts and get advertising to appear on the account's timeline to then misinform advertisers about the placement of their posts. These contrived experiences could be created on any social media platform."

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Maybe our Trump supporters here can explain this to us, given they are so vociferously defending Elon...

Trump says: Writing on Truth Social this past weekend, Trump said electric vehicles are a “hoax” and “all of these cars are going to be made in China.” Trump claims the EV pivot will destroy the US auto industry and kill jobs.

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/09/28/business/cars-trump-uaw-electric-vehicles/index.html

But Musk's Tesla is the largest producers of electric cars in the world - and he builds cars in China that he then sends to North America...

https://www.autoweek.com/news/industry-news/a43684884/tesla-exporting-models-china-to-north-america/

So according to Trump, Musk is selling cars that are "hoaxes" and that are killing US jobs, by being built in China...

Yet Musk is still a MAGA-hero?

Explain that please...

10 ( +10 / -0 )

"Media Matters created an alternate X account and deliberately followed sensitive accounts to curate posts"

I.e.: They replicated the experience of right-wing cranks and got shown those advertisements. Which is exactly what the advertisers don't want. How is that a defense to the contrary?

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Not sure I’d put a lot of weight on the hope that IBM et all subcontract their PR to Media Matters. Doesn’t seem particularly responsible

uhm…

they created an alternate account? An? As in one?

follow this to its logical conclusion, Blacklabel.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Sorry, the above quote was posted in error.

Not sure I’d put a lot of weight on the hope that IBM et al subcontract their PR to Media Matters.

I.e.: They replicated the experience of right-wing cranks and got shown those advertisements. Which is exactly what the advertisers don't want. How is that a defense to the contrary?

yeah, this.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

“If you're serous about condemning and confronting antisemitism and racism and these bigotries, which are the gateways to destruction of liberal democracy, you've got to be explicit and open and full-throated about it," Raskin added “and you've got to denounce the antisemitism and racism across the board.”

Raskin himself called the post “outrageous and dangerous,” and suggested that he and other members of the House planned to write to Musk “to ask him to renounce those comments and to clean up his act.”

The comment in question concerned the "Great Replacement Theory." According to the online magazine The European Perspective:

[T]he topic “Great Replacement” will not disappear by not talking about it. The issues it is connected with – mass migration, problems of integration of migrants, “no-go areas”, etc. – will remain for the foreseeable future. Thus, it is important to gain clarity about what it means and how much truth there is in it.

—“The Great Replacement: Myth, conspiracy theory, or reality?” The European Perspective

I would challenge anyone who thinks that the “Great Replacement Theory” is, as the ADL says, “one of the most vicious and pervasive racist, antisemitic, and anti-democratic conspiracies today,” to explain the information in the series of articles “The Great Replacement: Myth, conspiracy theory, or reality?” from the online magazine The European Perspective otherwise (Please use your favorite search engine for URL). Such a “fact check” would be a great service to those who would otherwise find the theory to be a persuasive explanation of the facts. Who knows how many poor lost souls you might save from going astray.

Please understand that it is not enough to simply cite instances of extremism committed by those who may accept this theory to invalidate the theory itself any more than citing instances of extremism committed by those who may accept Islam invalidates Islam. With this in mind, it is odd to see the ADL call on tech companies to “make clear that their policies prohibit the Great Replacement theory and deplatform perpetrators of this disinformation” due to a “demonstrated appeal to mass shooters” ( https://www.adl.org/resources/blog/deplatform-tucker-carlson-and-great-replacement-theory ). If this were truly a justified reason, one must ask why there is not a similar call for tech companies to prohibit any view which an extremist may have accepted to justify their actions? Indeed, why is there not a similar call for tech companies to prohibit Judaism due to the extremism committed by Yigal Amir or Baruch Goldstein and deplatform any Jewish person who would speak about Judaism? Differing weights, differing measures… (Proverbs 20:10). What I see from Raskin is emotional words, but no substantive critique of "Great Replacement Theory" and no justification to label the theory "antisemitism and racism." There are of course antisemites and racists who acknowledge the theory just as there are antisemitic Muslims and racist Jews.

The more polarized conversations become, the worse the world will be. Nobody should be making pretense that they are concerned with “repairing the world” when they do not encourage equitable standards for discussion. And no, I have absolutely no interest in being a mass shooter or committing acts of extremism even though I have been exposed to information about the “Great Replacement Theory,” Islam, Judaism and many other ideas. What I do have is an interest in equitable standards for discussion.

The first in his case seems right, then his fellow comes in and cross-examines him.

—Proverbs 18:17

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

Yet Musk is still a MAGA-hero?

he’s not. That’s the logic failure you have.

anyone who simply isn’t far left tracks as “MAGA” to you. Which isn’t the case.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

So what Media Matters is guilty of is displaying the advertising patterns displayed to people who follow sensitive accounts? This is the scandal?

what you and Elon have told us Blacklabel is that the the Media Matters screenshots, while perhaps acquired through clandestine means, are not fake.

good luck in court with this.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

follow this to its logical conclusion, Blacklabel.

I create a fake account on a site and post questionable content

. Then I take a screenshot of my own fake account post that also shows an advertisement in it..

then I show it to that advertiser to get them to stop advertising. Simple, if I’m a far left dirtbag org like Media Matters.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Oh my god. A tweet!

how dare he!

Do remember back when you were all upset about Twitter? It seemed important to you then. Now it’s just ‘a tweet’.

What changed your mind?

12 ( +12 / -0 )

As Sgt. Schultz used to always say on Hogan’s Heroes:

” I know nothinggg!”

9 ( +10 / -1 )

They replicated the experience

These contrived experiences

why did you change the word to “replicate” like it’s legitimate action.

The word is “contrived”.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

There is no debate here.

Because you say so???

Because it is fact.

But you don’t know what or how he interpreted that remark. You can speculate all day but you can’t peer into the guys head or heart when it comes to motive or intent.

If that is your defense for someone’s actions then you can stop complaining about anything anyone ever does from now on.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Because it is fact.

Liberal facts? Well, we can now breathe a sigh of relief now, can’t we?

If that is your defense for someone’s actions then you can stop complaining about anything anyone ever does from now on.

Sadly, you don’t get to tell me what to think or do, I but I appreciate the concerned caring.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

Unless you’re suggesting that only Media Matters posted sensitive content.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

why did you change the word to “replicate”

I'm fairly certain your argument is done once you have to quibble over semantics. Whether the verb you use is "contrive", "replicate" or -- what we use in IT -- "reproduce": Fact remains that they could show something happening the advertisers don't want to happen.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Sadly, you don’t get to tell me what to think or do, I but I appreciate the concerned caring.

It’s a remarkable talent you have, you believe you know everything every liberal or democrat thought and intent but when it’s somebody you like suddenly you ‘can’t peer in to the head or heart’.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Not a fan of his but is this not considered condemnation?

It’s wrong no matter what,” DeSantis said.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

We are about 48 hours from “nobody ever said…” and 72 hours away from “yeah they didn’t that- so what?”

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

I don’t know what you’re worried about. If you think he’ll win the lawsuit yippee.

If he loses, providing he does in fact pursue a lawsuit, you can just say the cards were stacked against him by one of those deep state msm leftist groups space laser thingamajigs.

You’ve got it covered.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

It’s a remarkable talent you have, you believe you know everything every liberal or democrat thought and intent

I’m from California, the Mecca, the heart and soul of radical liberalism, yeah, kinda

but when it’s somebody you like suddenly you ‘can’t peer in to the head or heart’

Because unlike liberals, I don’t hate them for what they are, I just hate their failed policies unlike liberals that just hate conservatives for being conservatives, difference.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Proud of that?

totally! I form my own impressions about people.

you've flipped and he's not your hero anymore.

you said “MAGA”hero.

He can’t be my MAGA hero when he…..isn’t MAGA.

Doesn’t the A even stand for America? How does that work for Musk?

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

It’s a remarkable talent you have, you believe you know everything every liberal or democrat thought and intent

I’m from California, the Mecca, the heart and soul of radical liberalism, yeah, kinda

You really believe this? Wow.

Rock-star Ronny dumping on Trump...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis knocked former President Donald Trump over his age Sunday, saying the presidency is “not a job for an 80-year-old.”

If elected, Trump would be 78 on the first day of his second term. “This is not the same guy as the Trump in 2015 and ’16. That Trump would show up on the debate stage, he would barnstorm,” the Republican presidential hopeful said of the former president during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“Now he’s wedded to the Teleprompter, he’s not willing to debate, and he’s running on many of the same things he promised to do in 2016 and didn’t deliver,” DeSantis added.

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/19/desantis-trump-age-2024-election-00127958

That will make the ketchup fly at Mar-A-Lago...

After posting that Trump was lying about DeSantis' record, I'm sure our MAGA-friends here will offer proof that DeSantis is now lying about Donald.

It's enjoyable watching the MAGA-posters prove the two candidates they "love" are slanderous liars...

ROFL...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

We get it Blacklabel. You are very upset that Media Matters used sneaky underhanded tactics to show how a Built Ford Tough ad runs alongside posts from some fictional “sensitive content” accounts that are all creations of the left.

because Elon didn’t bring any of that stuff back. It’s all contrived leftist scheming.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Doesn’t the A even stand for America? How does that work for Musk?

Ask Desantis. It’s in the article even:

“I think he’s a guy that believes in America.“

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Rock-star Ronny dumping on Trump...

So he’s not MAGA either, huh?

glad that’s cleared up.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Proud of that?

totally! I form my own impressions about people.

Especially those that collude with the CCP and hustle the masses with their "hoax" cars...

you've flipped and he's not your hero anymore.

you said “MAGA”hero.

I did - not your MAGA hero anymore? Or is he your hero just not a MAGA-hero? LOL...

He can’t be my MAGA hero when he…..isn’t MAGA.

OK, you disagree with Bass that Musk isn't a MAGA hero...what else do you disagree with him on?

Doesn’t the A even stand for America? How does that work for Musk?

Ask Xi - that's where Musk is making his cars that he's now selling here...

You going to buy one?

A video from the investigative journalist David Sheen some years ago:

Scene: A Jewish speaker surrounded by a crowd of Jewish gatherers in Israel:

If you listen to the news, then you’ve heard that Mohammed is the most popular name in the United Kingdom. Right? So we want it to be the most popular name in the United Kingdom! There should be lots of Mohammeds in Britain, in Sweden, in France! Not here! Not here! That’s what we want! [Applause from the crowd]

How is one to understand this? Why have I not heard condemnation of this in all these years? I mean, these are obviously white-supremacist-racist-antisemtic-extremist Nazis operating openly within Israel! You would think this would have been a huge story. But no, a far more important is the story of a guy agreeing to a comment on social media.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Conservatives, pseudo-libertarians, "free-marketers" who engage in crony capitalism subsidizing businesses, and their policies which impoverish many and enrich a few deserve hate and condemnation.

https://www.floridapolicy.org/posts/florida-ranks-49th-for-worst-income-inequality-in-the-u-s

It applies to DeSantis, the big orange and the GOP in general.

Ron Desantis is spineless. He loves to bully others when it is politically advantageous but appears unable to take a tough moral stand when he perceives it might cost him votes.

A Jewish speaker surrounded by a crowd of Jewish gatherers in Israel:

You answered your own question "jeffy".

A random Jewish speaker surrounded by a Jewish crowd.

Versus an online statement by the richest man in the world, defended by a governor of a US state and candidate for the presidency and expressing sentiments echoed by many in his party.

The logical failures , basic stuff really of the MAGA tribe is embarrassing.

That is why Jordan Klepper and the Guardian et al can easily derive such comedy from them.
