His body, his choice.

-12 ( +9 / -21 )

His choice yes... but just as with most of his choices, it's just another demonstration of bad leadership.

22 ( +30 / -8 )

Well, perhaps if he tool 10x the amount of each, he'd be 10x more immune?

People have died from taking hydroxychloroquine. If the cure is worse than the disease it is supposed to stop, it isn't any cure.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Ya know, it can cause heart attacks if taken for anything other than malaria or lupus? Just saying . . . .

8 ( +10 / -2 )

The US president is self medicating....he is morbidly obese, 73 and needs to he saved from himself.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

He asserted without evidence

i.e. once again fell back on his standard approach, which is to say whatever was on his mind at that time. What he says will be parroted by his media and the true believers who for whatever reason still listen to him. Given he has zero credibility, except of course for some in his base, he probably isn't even taking the drug.

Trump said his doctor did not recommend hydroxychloroquine to him, but that he requested it from the White House physician.

Another who knows what's true. Trump's loyal followers claim he's 'only' told around 150 'intentional misinformations', others claim he's going on 19,000. And counting.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Yeah I really believe everything liar in pants says....

5 ( +8 / -3 )

If he started taking meth, he'd still have his advocates and admirers.

But, if course, the glorious trump knows best. Much better than the experts or the studies.

When the ego finally falls, it will fall heavily.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

If he started taking meth, he'd still have his advocates and admirers.

Well if that's true, he must be one hell of a guy.

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

His body, his choice.

True, but just keep that information to yourself. Don't use your bully pulpit to put others at risk.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

So this drug knows somehow to not kill you if you are taking it for an “approved use”.

but if you just take it to prevent coronavirus that you don’t have, it kills you?

makes perfect (non) sense.

-17 ( +5 / -22 )

So this drug knows somehow to not kill you if you are taking it for an “approved use”.

but if you just take it to prevent coronavirus that you don’t have, it kills you?

makes perfect (non) sense.

There are hundreds of drugs that are approved for some purposes but are otherwise advised against because of unnecessary risk factors. Trump should just use them all.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

If he started taking meth, he'd still have his advocates and admirers.

His use of Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine salt has been reported for years. And apparently is just fine with his advocates and admirers.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Trump is the embodiment of everything you shouldn't do or say during a pandemic.

Nov. 3 couldn't come soon enough.

That or the 25th amendment. Baby Jesus and his baby friends save us all.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Look, people should be monitored,” Ms. Ingraham said. “But I think people aren’t getting it when perhaps — I say perhaps, I’m not a doctor — it could actually benefit them. And it’s very safe.”

Ms Ingraham is everything a doctor isn’t, educated and knowledgeable, but who needs that!!

And if the drug proves to be counterproductive, we can always blame the WHO and China. Even Obama and Biden should be held responsible if for some rational reason Hydrochloridechlorocoxyquounine does not treat Coronavirus!!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Old obese guys with heart conditions should not take hydroxychloroquine unless its a life or death moment.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

HCQ is more effective when smoked I sent him a pipe I bought online at Tommy Chong's store.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Double the dose. What have you got to lose? Take it. It may be a game-changer (for us).

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Anyone else think it's ironic that some of the side effects can be paranoia, hallucinations and delusions?

He said the medical reports claiming no benefit from the drug were documents made by "enemies of Trump."

Oh my... This is just what the US and world doesn't need now, an even crazier Donald Trump. Scary stuff.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

For me there are two likely possibilities here.

He’s taking it because he’s actually tested positive.

He’s not taking it at all and this is just another one of his lies.
9 ( +10 / -1 )

Ms Ingraham is everything a doctor isn’t, educated and knowledgeable, but who needs that!!

That should have been Ms Ingraham isn’t what a doctor is , educated and knowledgeable!!!

But who cares about proper grammar and spellings when you can focus on trump’s and fox’s message instead .

Trump said his doctor did not recommend hydroxychloroquine to him, but that he requested it from the White House physician.

I'll bet that physician gave him a placebo pack of mini-mints from the candy store just to shut him up from all of his constant nagging of wanting to ingest that junk.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Oh, I support his taking lots of whatever he wants to take, and would never stand in his way, as long as he is sane, and not demented, and as long as he is not hurting anyone by his choices. Otherwise, his doctor should make the decision.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Idiot modeling how to be an idiot.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

It’s not about the country. It’s all about Trump. What a media wh—- !

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I strongly object to trump being called ‘Morbidly Obese’

I remember seeing a picture he had put on Twitter in boxing attire showing his ripped muscles. That is the real trump not the one the MSM tries to project!!!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Taking the drug when not infected is stupid, but I'm glad he said it was his decision to make, considering some are talking about making the upcoming vaccine mandatory.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

People have died from taking hydroxychloroquine

People die from taking aspirin. All drugs have side effects, all drugs are toxins - this is common sense. It's bizarre that people are obsessed with this - and are all suddenly medical experts more qualified than his personal physician.

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Someone who is afraid of losing their job!

FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said in an emailed statement Tuesday: “The decision to take any drug is ultimately a decision between a patient and their doctor."

3 ( +5 / -2 )

NY Times reports the president’s family trusts all have investments in a mutual fund whose largest holding is Sanofi, the manufacturer of Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine. Associates of the president, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, have also run funds that hold investments in the pharmaceutical firm.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

People posting that Trump's taking hydroxychloroquine because it's "his choice" as though he were just some average Joe in Hicksville are missing the obvious fact that Trump is the President of the United States, and by taking risky, non-proven medication he could potentially not only be placing his life in danger, but also the running of the country (as he and his fans see it). He wouldn't even have to die - if he were to have some kind of adverse health episode because of this drug and be incapacitated, there would have to be a transfer of power at a time when the US hardly needs any more instability than it already has.

And what happens if Trump comes through this epidemic without contracting Covid-19? Is he going to claim it was all the hydroxychloroquine that did it?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

theFU:

People have died from taking hydroxychloroquine. If the cure is worse than the disease it is supposed to stop, it isn't any cure.

People died from drinking fish tank cleaner. And by the way, now there are are indications that was actually a murder situation.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Hydroxychloroquine alone when given to people about to be put on a ventilator appears to be useless but hydroxychloroquine + zinc (which Trump is taking) seems indeed promising. Early and with zinc. I admire Trump for following through on what he says.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

Toasted Heretic:

But, if course, the glorious trump knows best. Much better than the experts or the studies.

Do your experts include Didier Raoult (whose medical opinion has a tad more credibility than yours)?

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

zichi:

Old obese guys with heart conditions should not take hydroxychloroquine unless its a life or death moment.

That comment shows that you have only read the opinion news in the media, and not actually read up on the drug. The drug is precisely NOT effective in a late stage life or death moment.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

I am not an American, and I don't live in America, so I can not judge well Trump's political abilities.

But I am always positive surprised about many things he is doing.

When I read that he took Malaria medicine to prevent an infection for Corona Virus...I said to myself...WOW! OK, why Not?

Trump is a very "interesting" person.

And don't forget, he is the first US president ever, who made it possible to met a leader from North Korea. Awesome!

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

@proxy

I admire Trump for following through on what he says.

When is trump going to show us that bleach aka "freedom juice" also kills the coronavirus?

Remember that was another one!

5 ( +9 / -4 )

@ulysses + @Silvafan

I suspect that is he ever has to be incubated that the doctors do indeed put disinfectant on the tube.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The choice for the country is now narrowing down to, not Trump vs Biden, but hydroxychloroquine sulphate + zinc or the 25th.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@proxy thank you for sharing that illuminating and high educational piece on a technology which has existed since 1904 but never applied.

The fact that trump knew about it but none of the doctors did makes me question why we have medical schools. Education seems highly overrated.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

That comment shows that you have only read the opinion news in the media

I'd say you're right. Nancy Pelosi was on the news the yesterday and she called Trump morbidly obese. Now today all the Trump haters are posting and calling him morbidly obese. If Nancy had said he was a genius they would all be calling him a genius today. Watch CNN and repeat, and then repeat.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

The molecular biology is proven by lab tests to support this (not to mention excellent early intervention results):

When the cells contain high concentrations of zinc the virus is UNABLE to replicate itself.

The problem is getting zinc INTO the cells is very difficult. Hydroxychloroquine however acts as a zinc ionophore that drastically increases the cells' zinc absorbtion. This achieves the cells protection from the virus replicating itself.

The danger is the balance of metallicity may be disrupted which would effect the heart's electrical signaling.

For example high zinc concentration in the body prevents copper absorbtion which would need to be supplimented also to restore the balance.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

For me there are two likely possibilities here.

He’s taking it because he’s actually tested positive.

He’s not taking it at all and this is just another one of his lies.

The second is very possible given his track record with honesty. It would be disgraceful if he was lying but his supporters wouldn’t care less.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

It’s amazing. The so called liberal slogan “live and let live” applies to everyone except the President, he’s not allowed to make a choice on what drug he wants to take? He should tell everyone to take a hike, he can take whatever heck he wants, that’s the end of that conversation.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Trump morbidly obese

He’s ‘only’ obese.

Should lay off the KFC and probably the HDC, too. LOL.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

President, he’s not allowed to make a choice on what drug he wants to take?

Of course he is. I don’t care if he takes it. I don’t really care what the dude puts into himself. Power to him to take HDC!! It’s his influence on the stupid I sorta worry about.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

"Watching President Obama’s graduation address tonight I think I finally understand Obamagate. It’s the scandal of having a president being able to speak with empathy, humor, insight, inspiration and in complete and coherent sentences." - Dan Rather

If a person can't logically defend his actions for putting his own life at risk then how can that person be expected to make logical decisions that put the lives of 330 million people's lives at risk?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And he owns shares in a company that produces it.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Trump's revelation a day earlier that he was taking hydroxychloroquine caught many in his administration by surprise and set off an urgent effort by officials to justify his action.

Pffft. He doesn't have to justify taking it to anybody, it's his decision, in consultation with his doctor to give himself another line of defense against this virus. What's the big problem?

I know some staff working at a hospital who are taking hydroxy-zinc. Smart move.

People have died from taking hydroxychloroquine.

Yeah, they were on their death beds. Look it up.

All Trump is doing is trying to save lives in the interim being as how we have no vaccine and aren't going to have one for some time. Hydroxy-zinc has been shown to be effective in boosting the immune system with no side effects.

A lot of negative, snarky comments by the usual gang here. Discouraging to say the least.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Did anyone see him take it? Was a doctor present to confirm what he was taking? No? Then take all what he says with a pinch of salt

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Lamilly:

Did anyone see him take it? Was a doctor present to confirm what he was taking?

You seriously suggest that he is taking this (or any drug) without the supervision of the WH doctor?

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

You seriously suggest that he is taking this (or any drug) without the supervision of the WH doctor?

Possibly suggesting that Trump is lying about actually taking it. After all, he lies about everything. Then again, maybe Michael Jackson's doctor found a new home.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

President Donald Trump emphatically defended himself Tuesday against criticism from medical experts that his announced use of a malaria drug against the coronavirus could spark wide misuse by Americans of the unproven treatment with potentially fatal side effects.

Pretty much sums up Trump.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Why not ask him to take it in front of the cameras? I bet he’s not taking it at all.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Yep, his lips moved - he's lying. I bet he told Melania to take it first...he can always pull her and her parents green card if she refuses...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

cant even come up with a narrative. Half the liberals mocking him for taking it, the other half claiming he didnt even take it in the first place. At least pick one story to run with.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Its kind of funny because even in the Trump world version of reality he is committing a huge continuity error.

Hydroxychloroquine is supposed to be a pretend treatment for people who already have Covid 19, not a way of preventing a healthy person from getting it.

But yeah, at this point I guess we should just all be happy he isn't boasting about injecting disinfectant or sunlight into his lungs.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

despite no one being able to articulate why this drug knows not to kill you if you have lupus or another approved use. But if you dont have lupus or something on the FDA list- it kills you, dead.

(well, supposedly kills you. if you forget Tom Hanks wife took it and recovered, as did the Michigan Dem congressperson, and 40 elderly in a Texas nursing home, among others. likely even some of those CNN/NBC media people who will never admit taking it)

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

cant even come up with a narrative. Half the liberals mocking him for taking it, the other half claiming he didnt even take it in the first place. At least pick one story to run with.

Just weighing up the possibilities. Given his incredible capacity for lying, it’s quite charitable to even entertain the possibility he is taking it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I took this drug multiple times over several decades as a prevention method for malaria.

Somehow the drug knew not to kill me, and I never got malaria. I wonder why now my lifelong friend drug would kill me if I suddenly decided to take it again to prevent coronavirus. Would it be angry at me for supposedly "misusing" it?

Minimal side effects, my heart is fine to this day and I never got malaria, much less died from it.

thats a Win, win, win. thanks hydroxycholorquine.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Then how did Tom Hanks wife and the Dem congresswoman and the elderly in the Texas nursing home end up taking it and being ultimately cured?

Given that there is no evidence that this drug does anything to treat, cure or prevent Covid 19, its extremely irresponsible to be encouraging people to use it, given those risks. This is plainly obvious on the facts.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

None of that is true.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

But it is true and has been discussed many times previously. Even if you claim it didnt "cure" them, fine. They didnt die from taking it either. point made.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

So, if Trump plops over next week of a heart attack, what caused it?

Morbid obesity?

Horrible diet?

Age?

Insomnia?

Stupidity for taking a drug his own FDA says not to take?

I vote for the latter...

2 ( +4 / -2 )

cant even come up with a narrative

Then u got nothing.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I wouldnt be coming up with the liberal narrative, thats your job after consulting with your media.

Half of you saying he didnt take it, other half mocking him for taking it? which is it?

Then u got nothing.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

I wouldnt be coming up with the liberal narrative, thats your job after consulting with your media.

Half of you saying he didnt take it, other half mocking him for taking it? which is it?

You don't want to go down this road. The one time you tried to defend Trump before you got your marching orders from /pol/ or whatever, you said that injecting disinfectants was good, then that it was bad but it didn't matter because no-one was doing it, then that doctors were studying it, then that they weren't studying it but that they should be.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

thats quite a misrepresentation of what was said.

What was said is that no one was told by Trump to "inject disinfectant". which is true, nothing to the sort was said and no one is doing that.

But at the same time, there are medical studies looking into how things that are classified as disinfectants can be used to treat this virus. Because as you remember, some of the vaccines we currently use have small amounts of "disinfectant" in them, as do over the counter treatments for cleaning your intestines and such.

But as we will just argue all day about "inject" and "ingest" and whether something is really a "disinfectant" or not, its pointless to continue this conversation.

I will just end it that Trump did not recommend anyone to inject common household disinfectant, no one did based on him supposedly telling them to do so, and doctors are not studying to use that specific type of disinfectant in that way.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Why not ask him to take it in front of the cameras? I bet he’s not taking it at all.

You don’t know that.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

thats quite a misrepresentation of what was said.

It isn't.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@proxy

https://www.ptcommunity.com/wire/global-pandemic-consortium-supports-trumps-call-investigation-ultraviolet-light-potential

Ultraviolet is used to clean the surfaces of materials. You can't exposed or inject the inside of your body to ultraviolet, and ultraviolet is not bleach (aka Freedom juice) which is what we were discussing.

No need for distractions!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Silvafan:

Ultraviolet is used to clean the surfaces of materials. You can't exposed or inject the inside of your body to ultraviolet,

Actually, there is a company developing a product to do exactly that, and it is pending FDA approval.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I will just end it that Trump did not recommend anyone to inject common household disinfectant, no one did based on him supposedly telling them to do so, and doctors are not studying to use that specific type of disinfectant in that way.

You don't listen to your President very closely, do you...

"A question that probably some of you are thinking of if you’re totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposedly we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. (To Bryan) And I think you said you’re going to test that, too. Sounds interesting, right?"

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful."

So explain to us what about "disinfectant" and "injection inside" that you fail to understand...
