200,000+ have died with the death toll mounting daily, Trump's economy (for the general population, not his fellow 'elite') is in shambles, yet Trump continues to lie - and show zero regard for the general population while dragging the US down to its lowest point in modern history.

His followers, fellow pandemic deniers and other eugenicists cheer him on because he 'trolls the media and the libs'. Trump's base have set the lowest bar ever for a leader of any sort. While many in his base have been devastated by Covid45.

This isn’t a surprise. Trump couldn’t speak the truth if his children’s lives depended upon it.

He sure doesn't care one iota about all those Hispanic 'animal' children he kidnapped and holds in those concentration camps, does he?

It appears that the author of this article is deliberately unaware

It appears that you are unaware that this article is not claiming anything. The article is reporting on a scientific study done at Cornell University.

Fact is fact.

You should feel proud that your Lord and Savior Donald J. Trump has so much influence in the world.

Trump biggest driver of COVID-19 misinformation

Bwahahahahahahaha! No, that would be our feckless media.

The authors found that comments by Trump drove major spikes in the "miracle cures" topic, led by his April 24 press briefing where he mused on the possibility of using disinfectants inside the body to cure the coronavirus.

Yeah, he was confirming with the expert who had spoken just before him about the possibility of developing treatments using disinfectants. The media continues to imply that Trump was suggesting that people drink/inject disinfectant into themselves. I will keep posting the link to this video that debunks that every time I see this BS from the media:

Trump said WHAT about disinfectant?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXARy68kl1E

Similar spikes were seen when he promoted unproven treatments like hydroxychloroquine.

Unproven my rear end! It's being suppressed by the feckless media. Oh my...

https://www.palmerfoundation.com.au/dr-simone-gold-discusses-benefits-of-hydroxychloroquine-after-video-showing-efficacy-was-censored/

And let's not forget there is a Democratic congresswoman who swears that HCQ saved her life. Oh my...

https://www.newsbreak.com/news/1542151348947/another-hydroxychloroquine-success-story-democratic-michigan-lawmaker-who-gets-covid-19-praises-us-president-trump-says-hydroxychloroquine-saved-her-life

Next came the claim that the pandemic was a hoax for political gain by the U.S. Democratic Party

That is absolutely true.

The research was partly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Jeepers creepers!

The author wasn't referencing a study by Cornell University? Then what did the author mean by "*U.S. President Donald Trump has been the world's biggest driver of COVID-19 misinformation during the pandemic, *a study from Cornell University said"?

No one knows more about how to entirely mess up the leadership of a nation in a time of crisis than Trump, and no one know more about how to destroy their nation through trolling than the people who elected Trump.

Why is it BS?

I hope you can offer a critique of how the research methodology and analysis were faulty.

The fact remains that back in 2014, Obama warned of future pandemics, especially after tackling and stopping the Ebola virus coming out of Africa.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBVAnaHxHbM&feature=emb_logo

Thus, a pandemic playbook was developed and a response team put in place, which Trump summarily dismantled.

As a result, it's true that Trump is the biggest driver of Covid-19 related deaths. It is his watch and he should accept responsibility. He needs to lead and direct, not take the easy way out and say, "you guys handle it yourselves, and then if you can't, I can just blame you". A true POTUS doesn't pass the responsibility on others; they actual take control, lead, direct, and take accountability.

Except when it's BS, plasticmonkey.

Typical Trump supporter. Cry "fake" or "BS" if it doesn't fit their way of thinking. It's like crying "BS" when science proves the world is round, but you continue to think it's flat. So basically what you're saying is that going to school and doing scientific studies are meaningless. Please show your proof or cite your sources that the report is false. Bottom line is that Trump is dangerous because he doesn't follow the science or experts. He just wants to follow the little voices in his own head.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

No.

Governments, PR agencies and the mainstream media have been the biggest drivers of misinformation and disinformation. Muddying the waters about cases vs symptomatic patients, relative susceptibilities of different age groups and people with and without co-morbidities, which treatments are effective, the need for and effectiveness of lockdowns, the need for universal vaccination. The list goes on.

Trump isn't helping things that much, but he sure isn't the biggest driver of misinformation.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Conspiracy theories linking the pandemic to philanthropist Bill Gates came next, then the hoax that COVID-19 symptoms are caused by 5G phone networks, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and the notion that the virus is a form of population control.

Attacks on U.S. government scientist Fauci, references to the debunked "Plandemic" video, and blaming the virus on Chinese people consuming bat soup rounded off the list.

The study authors also tracked how the stories were shared on social media, finding that the posts elicited 36 million engagements, three-quarters of them on Facebook.

The research was partly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The last line says all you need to know about this "study."

Governments

So are you saying the the position of POTUS is not government? Huh? Last time I checked a dictionary, government includes office of the president.

Trump himself has admitted that he said the virus would simply disappear back in April. He said that we didn't have to worry about it. Lies, lies and more lies. You keep telling lies, then sooner or later people won't believe anything you say, even if it ends up being the truth. That is so dangerous; especially when dealing with a crisis such as this.

The foundation that works to improve healthcare and reduce poverty? Those people are clearly evil.

Interesting hypothesis.

Now go get some funding from Americans for Prosperity and do your own scientific study. Eagerly awaiting your results.

When will the manslaughter charges against Trump happen?

Looks like he has directly caused about 160K deaths in the USA from poor judgement, lack of action, etc. He needs to be institutionalized with no access to anyone except a state appointed psychologist to protect us from him and him from himself - asap.

He's clearly living in a fantasy world.

plasticmonkey - It appears that you are unaware that this article is not claiming anything. The article is reporting on a scientific study done at Cornell University.

It still appears that the author of this article is deliberately unaware. Unless you are accusing Trump of writing 522,472 news articles?

A team from the Cornell Alliance for Science evaluated 38 million articles published by English-language, traditional media worldwide between January 1 and May 26 of this year.

The database they used aggregates coverage from countries such as the United States, Britain, India, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and other African and Asian nations.

They identified 522,472 news articles that reproduced or amplified misinformation related to the coronavirus pandemic, or what the World Health Organization has called the "infodemic."

Consider the source of the story. The Alliance for Science is a radical left, climate panic group funded by many other left leaning sources. They are hardly non partisan or non political.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Absolutely true - and just one example;

Trump acknowledges in Feb and Mar the virus is "a killer", "deadly", it "rips you apart", it's "highly contagious - airborne", "it's the plague"....yet he held 19 rallies since then with no distancing and masks...

And at his Toledo rally last week he said the virus; "hardly effects anyone"...

He also acknowledged in Mar that the virus isn't just affecting old people, it's "young people too - plenty of young people". But then in May he says to open schools because; "it has very little impact on young people"....

And at his Toledo rally he said; “Now we know it affects the elderlyThat’s it,

He has tweeted wearing a mask is "Anti-American", then several weeks later said it was "patriotic"...

In the war against the virus, Trump does nothing but give aid to the enemy...

Governments

So are you saying the the position of POTUS is not government? Huh? Last time I checked a dictionary, government includes office of the president.

Trump is all over the place with this, and sure, he's part of the problem. But he's not the only one. Democrats state governments don't bother enforcing mask wearing and social distancing when it comes to the riots they allow to happen as a means to weaken Trump, but they don't hold back when criticising people at Trump relies for not social distancing and not wearing masks. Hypocrites.

Look at Japan as well. They're all over the place with their messaging, partly because they desperately want to hold the Olympics next year. But through their mouthpiece, NHK, they're still plugging the "new normal" line in their nightly news bulletins, and would likely mandate lockdowns if they were constitutionally able to do so.

In Australia, particularly Victoria, they've had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world, with 5-km travel limits and 8/9pm-5am curfews in Melbourne, arrests of anti-lockdown protestors but not of BLM protestors who went out in much bigger numbers as the infection numbers were expanding, and a state government lying through their teeth about who's responsible for the quarantine fiasco. There's an omnibus bill that the premier is trying to push through state parliament that would give the chief health officer the power to deputise any public servant to arrest a person who they suspect could break the COVID rules before they even do so. Basically, pre-crime from Minority Report. Some senior lawyers have come out against it, but Andrews seems determined to push the law through.

In the UK they sneak in a lockdown law in the dead of night with no time for MPs to properly scrutinise it while claiming to keep everyone safe. From what? Certainly not from creeping authoritarianism. All the while the so-called expert Neil Ferguson was doomsday modelling hundreds of thousands of deaths and preaching lockdowns while scurrying off in the dead of night to have an affair. Others have done similar.

The mainstream media is complicit in this misinformation and disinformation by publicly demonising anyone who challenges the official line.

So, do you really think governments are looking out for your best interests? This is about control and power, not safety.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

No.

Governments, PR agencies and the mainstream media have been the biggest drivers of misinformation and disinformation.

Interesting hypothesis.

Now go get some funding from Americans for Prosperity and do your own scientific study. Eagerly awaiting your results.

Did you even notice the last line of the press release dressed up as an article? I'll put it here just in case you missed it.

The research was partly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The research gave findings that suited the agenda of its funders. Happens all the time in all sorts of industries. For all his buffoonery and inconsistency, Trump is a roadblock who the study's funders want out of the way, so they commission a report to say what they want and then dissipate it through their formidable PR network to end up in places like JT. I know we're not supposed to criticise St. Bill. You have to give him credit for successfully manipulating public opinion that has taken him from being a monopolistic nerd who made and sold bug-ridden software that attracts viruses like bad-behaving celebrities draw paparazzi. But talk to some Africans once in a while and you get a different perspective on his health programs. Might put some things in perspective.

200,000+ have died with the death toll mounting daily,

And yet, Biden and Cuomo dodge the questions of people dying In nursing homes that they told them to go to, why they lie and dodge like that?

Trump's economy (for the general population, not his fellow 'elite') is in shambles,

Thanks to the virus and Democrats

yet Trump continues to lie - and show zero regard for the general population while dragging the US down to its lowest point in modern history.

That is rich and coming from the Democrats that refuse to open up businesses, more than half of the restaurants in New York are closed and will be closed forever, so the Democrats just screwed New Yorkers in the wonder they’re getting out, and California businesses and entrepreneurs are leaving as fast as they can, the homeless population continues to rise and the dirt and infestation of rats, poop and crime are going up and people are squatting in vacant hotels and vacant buildings in that one Democrat is saying anything about it, they continue to hinder the job creators to hiring people until all people to go back to work, but Biden is a better president, progressive and wants to impose higher taxes, but he’s better...smh....

eugenicists cheer him

Democrats are the ones that perfected that.
