The Lamescream media whines. How droll.

You put all your trust in Internet media and fake news then? The mainstream media is flawed, but our only hope is to reform it. Unless you think imposing fact-checking and reporting standards on bloggers is a realistic option.

Let's face it, Trump voters, you got a pig in a poke.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

@plasticmonkey As bass4funk has noted, Trump is "way over his head".

I agree with bass. Bass was the first to describe Trump and his followers as lunatics.

Re Trump not showing up for formal news conferences, is he afraid he'll be asked hard questions, e.g. will you make your tax info public and let the world know which international financiers you owe hundreds of millions to?;

or Did you help the Russians and others create fake news stories?;

or How will you ensure there won't be conflicts of interest between your businesses around the globe and your duties as president?;

or Do you think you've built a really really great and bigleague swamp, or will you fill your newly built swamp with even more global elites from big media, big banking, big military, big medicine, big pharma, big wrestling and others bigs so you and your establishment friends can get even richer and more powerful?

Or is his health suffering.

Trying to hold Trump to same standards and expectations as Obama is gonna be really hard. Ignorance vs Intelligence.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

so his sole focus will remain on the country and achieving his ambitious agenda with the help of the world-class cabinet he has built.”

Then maybe he should lay off Twitter a bit....

7 ( +12 / -5 )

maybe CNN won't be invited though, lol

Oh my...

That thrills you. The thought of a dictator shutting off media that doesn't kiss his derrière.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

...his sole focus will remain on the country....

More likely is that he desires the country's focus does not center on the Russian hacking scandal and his (or members of his team) possible involvement in it. Some are calling for Trump to release his financials before the Electoral College votes in order to clarify how - and how deeply - he is invested and/or indebted to Russia. Stall, Donald, stall!

6 ( +8 / -2 )

This will all end badly. Twitter is the home of the troll and of the thoughtless soundbite. no way to try and run a country. not that I think the "mainstream" media have been particularly deserving of our support either.

turbostat: "Hillary was RUNNING for president"

And did not win the electoral vote, and will not be president. So, when the article is about the PRESIDENT-ELECT avoiding news conference, it's comical to watch you guys struggle and say, "bb-b-b-b-b-but whatabouthillary?" still. Classic!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

the president-elect must field questions from a broader range of journalists.

Which Trump won't be able to handle. As bass4funk has noted, Trump is "way over his head". He simply doesn't have what it takes to be president. On this point, I agree with bass.

Trump prefers the coward's way of communicating: by tweet, rally, or controlled interview.

Hillary Clinton also avoided news conferences as much as possible, but I never saw such a headline about her reluctance to face the press.

Because Hillary Clinton was not elected president.

Not a trump supporter but frankly I do not really care at this point. When he takes office...different story.

On the other hand I am quite concerned about his use of/obsession with Twitter to communicate his feelings. Someone needs to tell him this is not becoming of the President of the U.S. and he needs to stop doing this. It is a dangerous and embarrassing practice.

Finally I am quite disappointed with appointing the Chairman of Exxon Mobil to the SecState position. Trump will get bi partisan resistance to this appointment because of his ties to Russia but I am more concerned about the lack of experience.

The US government is supporting the anti-Assad rebels, correct. It is not supporting ISIS or Al Qaeda. The parties who put those three in the same category are Assad and the Russian government.

SPOT ON!!

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Good. Imagine the kind of damage the guy could do in front of a press corps, start a war, crash the stock market. His staff should keep him as far away from the press as possible. Twitter is okay for next 2-3 years.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

He clearly knows he is unable to defend the position that his first act as president will be to crap on the Constitution by keeping the conflict of interests and not relinquishing his companies. So, any of those Trump fans that claim the Constitution is sacred must admit Trump is breaking the laws of the land. Otherwise they are just hypocrites who don't hold the Constitution with any kind of value at all.

^^ Trump supporter.

So where do you guys get your news from?

the president’s first comments on breaking news.

Some of their newscasters were practically in tears on election day

Terror does that. Caveat emptor!

CNN etc have shot themelves in both feet. the tawdry, phony amanpour and her cronies now are seen for what they are: vacuous, empty career bs artists.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Trump isnt even in office yet and the gang-up from the desperate lefties is full on. Just imagine if hillary had won - news conferences would be non-existent and not a complaint would be raised. Hillary would be right now scheming to prolong the war in syria and defacto if not ipso facto , support ISIS and Al Qaeda. Different ball-game now, folks!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The White House depends on having journalists nearby at all times to relay the president’s first comments on breaking news.

The "White House depends", or the journalists depend?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Enjoy the silence while it lasts. No doubt Trump is undergoing training in how to deal with the press (all recent presidents have received the same). Once he starts talking to the press, don't expect him to shut up.

Back in the 90's, Bill Clinton's first exchanges with the press made him look like the Arkansas redneck he was, but with the might of Spielberg and Hollywood to come to his aid, he soon began to look and speak like a statesman. I doubt Trump will ever resemble or sound like a statesman, but he will at least seem less like a Bowery Boy.

The former UK ambassador to syria stated clearly that the US is defacto supporting al qaeda in Iraq.

According to who? The FNM (Fake News Media)?

Hillary Clinton also avoided news conferences as much as possible, but I never saw such a headline about her reluctance to face the press.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

former UK ambassador to syria, peter ford, described obamas defacto support for al qaeda in syria "grotesque".

Oh, Trump will be giving formal press conferences in due time, maybe CNN won't be invited though, lol.

"Let's face it, Trump voters, you got a pig in a poke."

Trump may well be the greatest thing to happen to America in 70 years. So far so good, and he hasn't even taken office yet.

Oh my...

plasticMonkey: Because Hillary Clinton was not elected president.

Hillary was RUNNING for president

The press did mention her long drought of no press conferences. They didn't hammer her for it, like they should have, because she was THEIR candidate.

She was interviewing with the people for the job. Should have had lots of press conferences.

When she finally had one, it was answering a few questions, outdoors, in front of a (noisy?) airplane, and press said OK, there's a press conference. (Outdoors so no one would set off a flash and trigger her Parkinson's, maybe.)

Trump not having a conference in the middle of his president-elect transition schedule, when he's not even president yet and wouldn't have much to present, doesn't seem like a big deal in comparison.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

So he is not doing what all the other Pres-elects have done and they complain... Sounds like journalists are complaining more about the lack of articles they can write more than anything.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

plasticmonkey, the previously almighty "news" networks are rapidly losing their credibility and trump may well put the final nail in their coffins. And good riddance to them. Who can claim they are anywhere near unbiased?? Some of their newscasters were practically in tears on election day when they realised hillary had lost. Wghat are you trying to uphold - lies.

He's in transition, busy assembling his team. What's he got so far, to give a press conference on? "And yesterday I picked Tillerson."

Re Hillary .... would you hire someone who refused to come in for an interview, only stood outside the window at your office, shouting to her supporters around her, "HIRE ME!!!"?

The leftist media let Hillary get away with over a year of no or minimal press conferences in the run-up to the election, they've let Obama get away with a similar paucity of conferences, their new-found outrage is what's Hillarious.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

PE Trump is (once again) correct in not acknowledging the alphabet news organizations that unapologetically advance a fake news agenda. To do so would give them undeserved credibility. . . .

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

The media is causing a storm in a teacup over this drivel to distract from its (and the obama administrations) role in supporting the antiassad terrorist "rebels" and ISIS and Al Qaeda syria , now that that is becoming clear for the world to see.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

The U.S. radical alt-left media have voided all claims of being The Fourth Estate; especially during this past election cycle. According to the leaked Podesta emails, CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, PBS, WaPo and NYT all sent stories to DNC operatives for approval prior to airing or publishing them.

PE Trump will be bypassing these democrat party propaganda outlets by using other ways to release his unfiltered message out to Americans. Notice President (elect) Trunp announced his Sec. of Defense choice not at a news conference but at the Carrier rally in Ohio, catching the liberal pressitutes by surprise and scrambling to play catch up. Expect more of the same during the next 4-8 years. . . .

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

We have been led along by these biased "news" organizations long enough. Hollywood and TV glorify the reporter but the reality is most are vultures or at best simply toe the network line. Its bs. To hell with them.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

^^^ The Trump haters are simply apoplectic that their loser candidate lost. Sour grapes, little children.
