A bit rich to play The Internationale as the PRC works to undermine the freedoms of Hong Kong.

In a few decades to come, former CPP members will be condemned, hunted down and brought to trial just like former Nazi members have experienced after the war. The party membership will become a stigma, symbol against humanity. No wonder that this young dude is wiling to praise the celebration in the condition of anonymity :)
Boku Dayo
We can only hope.

@noriaho. Fully agree. The higher the rise the bigger the fall. Brainwashed idiots. I wonder why so many Chinese keep immigrating to richer countries/continents like Australia, Europe, Canada, and the U.S if the CCP tells them they are getting richer. China is a threat to world peace and freedom.
Peter14
No immigration issues for China, since nobody in their right mind wants to move there and call it home.
A growing nightmare that will one day end. The CCP is only 100 years old so it has no real history of its own.
Without the respect of the majority of the world, China will never amount to much more than a bully who makes lots of cheap goods of no quality. A nation that pushes others around to get its way. A nation to minimize contacts and business with.
Like the Nazi party, the CCP will make errors, cost many lives and burn out very fast.
OssanAmerica
Sure reminds me if those 1930s Nazi rallies.

Just wondering why their all wearing masks when China doesn't have a Covid problem?
Nothing China does can be trusted.

Japan and the US, you better get ready for war.
Slickdrifter
@CaptData
I would beg to differ from what I am seeing.
China is not ready for an all out war with Japan and her allies.
They know its futile still. On sea they can not pose a challenge against allied ships. U.S./Japan still has air superiority against the Chinese. The Chinese fighter jet inventory is still lacking.
They stole allot it from the U.S. anyways. All have hyper sonics as well able to deliver a nuclear war head on a major target with in minutes. Doubtful bombers would be used.
However, give China 10,, no maybe 6 or 8 years. Then make your statement.

According to the the latest official report , there is zero new positive case in the country. Well, it must always be zero so long as the CCP insists :P

"Xi was dressed in the same grey 'Mao suit' as the country's first leader"
Considering that Xi's father was purged and jailed during Cultural Revolution and Xi himself was exiled for 'reeducation' to a rural backwater where he lived in a cave, I wonder what his actual thoughts were when he was wearing that Mao suit and mouthing homilies under a portrait of Mao.

Nobody wants to pay the cost of an all out war. But the capability (and threat) to be able to engage in one is all part of the geopolitical game.
serendipitous1
Any country that has a 'leader' who declares, 'I am president for life', to brainwashed citizens who know no better, has some major problems.

Actually having a war would mean channelling all their efforts and materials into the effort, you can't be at war and still producing products for the countries you are at war with.
To go to war is to bite the hand that feeds

I met a man here in the States who had been in a Chinese Communist re-education camp. He learned to parrot the slogans that they wanted to hear, and then was able to escape the country through Hong Kong, back before it was returned to China. I suspect that Xi, during his period of re-education, learned something similar. But, instead of trying to escape the country, he decided to rise to the top of the heap, all while pretending to be a good communist.
Seems to me that Xi is a dictator, not a communist. It would be better for the country if he cared more for the people, and less about holding onto power with an iron grip.
gaicuckojin
I hope they remember that it was the Americans that ALLOWED china to be part of the international community and it will be the Americans who’ll take this privilege away.
igfklin
The international community failed to protect Hong Kong.
No one can go against China.
Even Hollywood, which has been preaching love and peace, has chosen Chinese money.
ebisen
Anyone knowing anything about communism knows China has ceased being a communist country long time ago.

If China could find away to work out it's problems with basic human rights, it could be the next Super Power, until then it's anyone's call.

Hong Kong belongs to China from the beginning. UK leased Hong Kong for 99 years and returned it to China in 1997. That is all about it. UK should not have given democracy to Hong Kong people because UK just used HK as business center in Asia. Or UK should have let Hong Kong be independent state. Its too late now.

100 years of CCP = 80 years of unseen poverty + 10 years cheap labour produciton for US, EU and Japan + 8 years IP theft + 2 years of covid19 .
noriahojanen
Beijing has been breaching the agreement that "one country two systems" shall stay in place for 50 years until 2047.
The CCP uses a carrot and a stick on Taiwan. Sheer military intimidation aside, they might also want to promise "one country two systems" across the Strait for another half century. Referring to at the fate of HK, nobody buy it. Comrade Winnie the Pooh has screwed up.

They teach in schools not to forget the shame of being bullied by the Eight Nation Alliance - Austria-Hungary, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United States. Bullies are often victims of bullying themselves. This is their Alamo.
Democratic nations during the turn of the century could have formed a framework for democracy in the waning years of the Qing dynasty but instead invaded, occupied and looted the palaces of Beijing leaving a vacuum of political ideology for the birth of the CCP.
The U.S. ain't gonna do squat. It was for the love of money that the US recognized China in 1972, the love of money in 1992 Most Favored Nation status, and the love of money in 2001 the WTO. What happened to Hong Kong? Money controls the U.S. To say no to China means to say no to money. Good luck with that.
It would be stupid for the Chinese to go to war with the U.S. The cost is too high.
China's economy is estimated to become twice the size of that of the U.S. by 2030-35 and three times by mid century. The CCP knows not to screw this up by trying to take Taiwan or getting involved in a conflict with the U.S. Their first and foremost goal is development and infrastructure, domestically and abroad. If you do business with China you'd know. War with the U.S. or any country would throw all that away.
OssanAmerica
That's correct. The CCP replaced "communism" with "nationalism" to keep the populace together. And being that China is a socialist state, they have become National Socialists. In other words, Nazis.
bob
Apparently Eisen is unfamiliar with China or even a single Chinese national.

if you think soviet union communism (or actual north korea communism) is the same as Xiping communism, well, you are clearly confused about communism

a country is communist or socialist, another example of clearly ideas about communism....

Those are just labels. Republicans would love to have a one party system like China's: both the House and the Senate, Judicial system, the Executive branch. Can get a lot of things done.

this is indeed a positive when looking at the overall picture, but ignores the needs/desires/opinions of everyone within.
the body corporate of one of my investment properties with 8 units is still arguing over re-doing the 30yr old driveway---will cost too much, drainage problems only happen a few times a year so why bother, its only sinking a few mm year----if one owner owned the whole complex it would've been done years ago: stuff the needs or feelings of the residents! alas, the same topic comes up every annual meeting, with no resolution because 'democracy'
now scale that up to country level, and thing start to fall apart. especially in a 'communist country' where everyone is supposed to be equal; some end up better off than others (ie tier 1 cities vs rural countryside)
Boris Yarovoy
I was born and raised in the USSR. It was a great power. China lagged behind us very much and people there lived much worse. In 1991, the USSR did not become - we lost the third world war. We abandoned communism and followed the path of Western democracy. Only the West did not help us - there was no Marshal's plan. And instead of the communists, bandits and thieves came to power. Life has become much harder and worse. And China went its own way. And today it has become the second largest economy in the world. Want to beat China? Start growing quickly as well. And if you cannot, then why envy and disturb others? The majority where he writes here lives in the "golden billion". Do you think other people do not want to eat deliciously and live richly just like you?
China is a country where today is better than yesterday. And I, too, once lived in such a country. And he was happy. How happy a billion Chinese are today. They are really proud of their country. I'm happy for them.
Sven Asai
I also know both systems. Yes, both have or had advantages and demerits, but finally, however current hardships may be, I couldn’t stand again for five minutes living in such a (one party) dictatorship with only one valid opinion, systematic mind washing and complete surveillance. Have you seen the pictures on TV? It’s just the same big mental hospital like in North Korea. They are like humans with amputated own opinions, free will , like breed robots. How can someone ever prefer that, for that eventually some better career or pocket money? Shame on them.
lostrune2
China's big problem is that they don't make friends the way they're governing. Not too many nations' peoples around the world share their view how leaders should rule the people they govern
Yeah, the Western leaders then were stupid not to extend their hands with financial help - they were too stingy with their pockets, even with the good economy in the latter half of the 1990s. They naively believed that democracy alone by itself will just make everything work itself out, and that they didn't need to do anything more
No, democracy needs help too. They gotta put their money where their mouth is - but they missed their chance back then
But yet, the Russian people now still have their chance to vote out those bandits and thieves who came to power. They shouldn't miss their own chance

The Japanese tend to be apolitical. The other side though is the polarizing politics of the US. One party rejects Trump's infrastructure plan and refuses to work with him and the other party is now returning the favor with Biden's plan. Whatever is accomplished is undone by the next person. Carter installs solar panels. Reagan takes them down. Obama - Trump - Biden and so on.
noriahojanen
True. the PRC seems to have many international commercial client-states, but virtually none of whom would become a staunch ally shedding blood for the sake of China under crisis.
Xi and his bandits are too late. I encourage smart and thoughtful Chinese young to be more reflective on how their homeland is viewed, disliked and disposed by many around the world. Speaking of covid, conceit CCP still seems unaware of globally accumulative grudge.
China’s international image remains broadly negative as views of the U.S. rebound
https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/06/30/chinas-international-image-remains-broadly-negative-as-views-of-the-u-s-rebound/
Interestingly, among 17 advanced states polled including Taiwan, Japan addressed the most negative views towards China.
Happy Day
CCP has made huge strides in the past few decades. Their tentacles now reach deep into U.S. government, media, academia, Hollywood, corporations, etc. Biden will continue to say things to appease the free world, but his actions, or inactions, will be telling.
TrevorPeace
@Happy Day, I think you hit the nail on the head. The infiltration of academia and social networks is where China is winning the 'war' for minds. It's patently obvious, here in Canada, to those of us who observe its insidiousness. Unfortunately, our current prime minister and his sycophants are blind to it.

Big personality cult looms over the land, and it's a sham.
What Marx referred to as 'communism' has never been established in any nation. Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, scumbags and crazy dictators, all. None of them have ever been true to the classless utopian vision Marx had. The CCP is one of the last few left and it's all been a lie.
In Marx's social theory there would be a classless society all over the world 'and the state would wither away'. Well instead there's these 'communist-in-names-only' types who care only about holding a grip on power and nothing else. If Marx were to visit a 'Communist' nation today he wouldn't recognize it.
The CCP is a total sham, and it's the oldest of these shams. When I was in college the USSR collapsed and then there were posters proclaiming 'Death to phony Communism. Mao More Than Ever.' It's a crock.
Leo
I like Chinese people but I hate Communism.

Starpunk, in true communism you have to give up all private property and your religion. Are you ok with that?

Big congratulations to the Communist Party of China on its centennial.
What is missing from this AFP article?
Xi declared the completion of a moderately prosperous society and a historic resolution of the problem of poverty. A quick glance at the headlines of the Global Times site tells you that.
Socialism works and young people in China are proud of their accomplishments.
Compare the many alienated youth in Japan exploited by temp labor outfits.

No, they just don’t want a weak and woke and colorful US, that won’t intimidate China.

Sayoku - you made me laugh - congrats to you too, comrade!
Everyone offended about my "China No Longer Communist" message - get an education. It's that easy. Don't just waste your life away watching youtube videos, but read at least 5000 pages on the matter (Marx and Engels is a good start). Then you can debate the matter knowleageable.
Cognac - I have many Chinese friends, and I've been to China a number of times. I tell them exactly the same thing all the time - China has not been communist for many years now.

The Chairman distinctively and boldly declared that China will not allow any other country to bully it again in future..
He said it loud and clear..

Not offended, ebisen. Bemused.
Can you educated me on when China holds free and fair elections?
Are citizens allowed to leave the country anytime they please?
Did the citizens of Hong Kong willingly elect their current leaders?
Looking forward to your educating me!

This 'Communism' isn't what Marx intended, he wouldn't recognize it. He envisioned it based on socialistic practices that go back to the ancient Hebrews, and economic practices that all Native American peoples practiced. And they had private property (personal items) and their religions. This 'Communism' takes it all to the extremes and they use their Party to push all the lies on and to oppress the people. It's BS, man.
We have Naziism today. There is the American Nazi Party and there are neo-Nazis who support a fascist who occupied the WH until late January this year. Fascism itself is 100 years old too.
Big problems, like a lack of freedoms and human rights. And an egotistical arrogant little tin god. Communism, fascism, all that totalitarian malarchy and crap. It sucks.

There's got to be something between an authoritarian government that tells everyone what to do and a representative government that can't do anything but have never ending woke competitions.
