I remember in univ late one night a drunk mate mistook a fast-asleep friend's room for a restroom and took a pee on the carpet, hahaha.

Sounds like acid or some other hallucigen...

So much fearmongering in the media that what would normally be rational aircrew interpreted a mistaken knock on the wrong door as a hijacking attempt.

Another deluded white guy having fallen for an island cutie and ended up getting swindled so fills up on anti-depressants way over his prescribed dosage and then blames his drug-fueled antics on his broken heart. Get a life, mate.

Getting drunk on a plane = Massive FAIL

Not sure what his color has to do with it, but if his story is indeed true, I feel sorry for him as well. Mistaking the cockpit for the the toilet though? Must have been some pretty powerful painkillers!

Men (and women) of all races have been deluded by island cuties. It's a historical fact.

Mirai Hiyashi, did you miss the part that he was NOT drunk? "… there was NO smell of drink on his breath when he was detained."

sorry, but what kind of an IDIOT mistakes the COCKPIT for a TOILET?? I smell BS!! Lock this fool up, most likely he is suicidal and wanted to kill himself and the whole plane!

You should forgive this pitty man.

this azzwipe should be locked up. had he been of a different nationality/ethnicity (e.g. brown), i doubt people here will have as much sympathy.

Its the pills and the high altitude that finally set in. He did not smell like alcohol so its not that but i can say he is an idiot for taking so may pills before a flight.

According to Reuters, the Telegraph, ABC News, and several other news outlets, he was drunk.

You neglect to note that none of those links present any test results or evidence that he was in fact drunk. The news agencies could be facing law suits if it turns out he was not drunk.

The word 'alleged' is what was needed in this case as it seems it was drugs, not being drunk that contributed to this.

Well, when I originally posted my comments, all sites were saying that he was drunk; how was I suppose to know her wasn't?

Looking at the floor plan of the plane, the fwd toilet is right next to the cockpit and there is only one so its not as stupid as you think. The aft has two toilets. He must have certainly looked like a fierce terrorist in his shorts and thongs to have required the airport to be shut down. Maybe he hid a bomb in his beer gut or a sixpack of VB stubbies they thought were hand grenades because of the colour, gotta be real careful of them ozzy terrorists. Sounds a bit like over reacting to me.

The headlines were saying that, but the articles were not. Some editor somewhere seems to have jumped the gun when writing the headline and the rest of the agencies followed suit.
