Agreed ... Slave Trade was bad in hindsight.
I however, do not see this as a justification for attacks upon Western Nations by African Nations or Individuals hailing from distant African Origins - be them Megan Markle's or otherwise.
African Nations are no Angels... neither past nor present, either.
Humanity has a lot to learn in it's growing up stages, and inclusiveness should be focused more upon for the future, than looking back to the past, since when you look down the hole ... it's gets a lot darker the further down you go.

Western slavery of Africans, transporting them to countries thousands of miles from their birthplace is an ugly period of history.
Modern-day slavery still exists from human trafficking for sex workers to indentured people.
" Fifty million people were living in modern slavery in 2021, according to the latest Global Estimates of Modern Slavery . Of these people, 28 million were in forced labour and 22 million were trapped in forced marriage."

The apology from the Dutch is the right action and more countries need to make one.

Very well done, repairs for the descendants..
Now, when the rest of Europe will also have dignity, and will recognize that it colonized and enslaved millions, especially the UK and its rebellious and poor educated son, the US.

Meaningless words.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte apologized Monday on behalf of his government for the Netherlands’ historical role in slavery and the slave trade, despite calls for him to delay the long-awaited statement.
Thank you--and you and your fellow countrymen are not responsible for the sins of your grandfathers. Countries like the United Kingdom, which engaged in the slave trade for almost 300 years, can go further than apologies and that type of action would be seen as more sincere.

Reminds me a big about the comedy sketch from "The Chapel Show" on Reparations. They are on YT, if anyone is interested. NSFW due to language.
Over the centuries, there have been many peoples mistreated for lots of different reasons. Slavery is probably the worst reason.
China had slavery from time to time. Han Chinese were slaves of Mongolians and vice versa. Hereditary slavery happened in China too. It wasn't until 1910 that slavery was abolished in China.
Arabs invaded India and enslaved tens of thousands there.
Even today, Pakistan and India have slave trades for Nepalese girls. There are some very pretty Nepalese women, I have to admit.
Parts of Japan had slavery over the centuries too. They didn't import slaves. Of course, Japan used slave labor during their occupations around Asia.
SE Asia had slavery. Usually it was girls from a neighboring country brought to be sex slaves.
Europe had serfdom, which is sorta like slavery. Russia had serfdoms for about 150 yrs longer than the rest of Europe. Has Russia apologized for that?
Slavery existed in Africa long before the Atlanta slave trade.
My point is that slavery wasn't just in the Americas. It was around the world, during different periods of human history. The Dutch certainly needed to apologize, but so do nearly everyone else.

If they are really sorry then they should pay reparations for cutting the feet and hands of slaves that did not work fast enough.
They should abolish the holiday of having people dress up like black people in blackface. Another people's ethnicitiy and DNA are not their costume!

Liverpool apologised for its connection with the slave trade and open a slave history museum. There are still many street names with those who profit from the slave trade.
Liverpool was the European capital of the slave trade from the 1780s right up until slavery was abolished in Britain in 1807.

Rodney
Others should also face up.
especially NATO decimating Libya and creating the worlds current massive human slave market.

Rodney, killing is worse than slavery, right? Slavery is worse than having a class system. As humans, we are all equal. That doesn't mean we all have equal capabilities in all things.
I'm sure you are expert at certain things. Does that mean that anyone who isn't is less a human being and should be in a lower class, enslaved or killed?
Hint: no. This goes for Africans and all people who are treated as "less" around the world.
