Dying TV star Jade Goody's marriage grips Britain

“People will say I’m doing this for money,” she was quoted as saying by The Sun tabloid earlier. “And they’re right. I am, but not to buy flash cars or big houses. It’s for my sons’ future.”

Didn't know her until now, probably wouldn't have liked her much anyway, but she's got a wicked point, and her frankness is indeed probably what won a lot of people over. Anyone who actually had the gall enough to proclaim she's 'doing it just for money' as in, for herself, is just moronic -- SHE'S DYING! So before she checks out, why NOT use her remaining fame to secure a future for her kids?

Her decision is almost noble. Good on her, I say.

Even though i dislike many things about her, i am pleased she is highlighting the trauma of cancer and more women are getting tested. Also though some in Britain find her media saturation distatstefull, her kids won't want for nothing.

I don't know this chick, but if she is truley doing this for her family, then good luck to her i say.

Two years ago, after her racist attack on another contestant, this behemoth couldn't have got back on TV for love or money. Now she's got cancer, she's suddenly St. Jade.

Plenty of other people die of cancer, and most of them have the self-respect to go with quiet dignity. Making a circus out of your own death is contemptible, but somehow, in this celebrity-obsessed age, Goody (and her good-for-nothing parasite of a jailbird husband) has managed it. And there are plenty of hacks in TV studios loving the revenue this woman's sickness is raking in for them.

I'm also a bit worried about the money she is making for her kids, i mean her fella is a jailbird. Can he be trusted with teh finances. I presume he will have custody.

I think it's awful to bitch about anyone dying and suffering like this. Comments like that deserve rightly to be shot down, because they are teribly nasty and beastly!

I'm with Thenewfront on this, I don't like her much either, but I certainly can't blame her for wanting to provide for her children after she is gone. Money is the only thing she will ever be able to give them unfortunately.

Not very long ago this woman was detested by most of the UK (& Indian) population, now because she is dying she has been “transformed”. Sorry just I don’t buy into this paranoid or superstitious rubbish that is wrong to speak ill of the (nearly) dead. Death ends a person’s life, it doesn’t change it.

genie22: Britain is not dumbed down . We have the greatest culure and sophistication on the planet. Britain can make its own choices without people on forums moaning about them. This woman's decisiosn should be respected. If you don't like what she does, then do not follow her in the media.

She was already a multimillionaire before she was diagnosed, and chinldren's Dad has a good career in the media. It's strange that people talk like they would have been out on the streets. How much money does her children need? Quality of life does not emerge from being a multimillionaire, its foundation stone is the way in which children are raised. It says more, though, about the British media and the public than it does about Jade Goody herself, that they are watching and buying this stuff about a woman dying, with some sort of ghoulish relish. This really is the nadir of dumbed down Britain.

What have you been doing on this site? Don't you have a freedom of speech in UK? If you don't like what non-British people have to say, stay off non-British websites. Jade Goody and her husband represent the worst aspects of British modern culture. She is a talentless racist bully and her husband is a thug who was put in jail for beating a teenage boy with a golf club.　Anyone who is now automatically seeing them as admiration people just because she has cancer is a gullible fool. I only feel sorry for her sons as they have to live with her legacy as the children of the worse representative of the international view of British culture and the epitomy of the cult of tabloid manipulation.
