@bass4fWhy liberals think the ACA was flawless

I have yet to hear or read anyone of any political leaning say that.

they want as usual a blank check for everything regardless if it’s a waste or ripe for abuse

II have yet to hear or read anyone of any political leaning say that.

Yes, but let’s punish the job creators,

No one is saying that. Myself, I'm questioning why a CEO of one of the big defense corporations, for example, that gets most of its revenue from government contracts gets multimillion dollar 'bonuses' for doing so. And how his company's profits can be seen as coming from 'free market capitalism'.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

These states also have the lowest quality healthcare and least number of residents enrolled in the ACA...

Repubs want to curtail vital food assistance to their own supporters and could care less about there health care...

Why liberals think the ACA was flawless when the entire system a disaster, not to mention, they want as usual a blank check for everything regardless if it’s a waste or ripe for abuse because the last thing liberals care about is money, that’s why the party doesn’t have it and needs the tax payer to foot it. Checks and balances...what for?

And two years ago they voted to give one of the largest tax breaks to the top wealthiest 1%...

Yes, but let’s punish the job creators, the very people help us put food on the table. Google, Apple are you listening?

Then their $2.2 trillion socialist bailout bill last week gave billions to big industry where CEOs still get million dollar salaries...their poor supporters get $1200...

Again, according to liberals, each family should get a million each, that’ll turn the country into a third world nation overnight, liberals think printing more money without people working and giving handouts like giving away salt water taffy is sustainable......more liberal logic at its very best.

Oh, these socialists....

We now know Newsweek and polls are credible to Bass. This should be fun moving forward.

Bass:. But it can’t be abused

You can be concerned about millionaires abusing $200 a month if you want.

I'll be concerned with billionaires taking advantage of hundreds of billions of dollars in aid, corruption that you literally described as "something that goes along with the territory."

Someone here has hit the nail on the head....

Nine out of the ten states with the most poverty have Repub Governors and vote reliably red....

The nail on the head is that Trump supporters and Repubs will vote for candidates and support policies that directly destroy their lives...

That's not a political party, that's a cult...

Scrutinized? SNAP pays something like $200 to $300 a month for food assistance in my state.

But it can’t be abused? More liberal logic...

https://www.cagw.org/thewastewatcher/new-usda-rule-will-help-reduce-snap-abuse-and-encourage-work

At the height of the Great Recession, between 2007 and 2011, the SNAP program grew by 135 percent and program costs topped out at $78 billion. Enrollment began to decline in 2013, but the number of SNAP enrollees and the cost of the program remain stubbornly high by historical standards even though jobs are plentiful.

SNAP exhibits several structural weaknesses that make it difficult to manage and highly vulnerable to waste, fraud, and abuse. On December 4, 2019, the USDA announced a final rule to address some of its longstanding vulnerabilities. The rule is west to go into effect on April 1, 2020.

You aren't concerned about millionaires and billionaires taking advantage of $200 a month in this new stimulus package. You just got duped.

So businesses shouldn’t be in business and should just screw their employees and

But yeah...moving on.

additional funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, as well as emissions restrictions on airlines and pension protections,

I agree with you that this is not the best time to be putting emissions restrictions on airlines. And you would probably agree with me that now is not the best time to include a provision fast-tracking FDA approval of innovative sunscreens produced in Mitch McConnell's home state of Kentucky.

As for SNAP and pension protections, they are necessary. People have to eat, and some people can't afford to.

Bass:. So you think the program with its history of abuse shouldn’t be scrutinized....interesting...

You are worried about millionaires abusing foodstamps but shrug if they pocket recovery funds?

Newsweek isn’t a credible source according to our Donny Fans

You can’t get more liberal than Newsweek...perhaps CNN

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Newsweek isn’t a credible source according to our Donny Fans. Of course, they determine whether something is credible based on whether the source is for not against Donny. Zero integrity.

The concern was corporate execs pocket money and the reply was about SNAP. Someone has no understanding of relevance. Smh.

Any bailout needs to include laws that prevent anyone in the company earning over $150K/yr from benefiting beyond keeping their job. And no management bonuses or added stock option grants until the bailout loans are repaid.

You are worried about millionaires abusing foodstamps but shrug if they pocket recovery funds?

Insane.

My car needs new, hot, rims, but the 1st check hasn't arrived yet.

Go ahead and talk about possible needs, but let's hold off a month, before we add another $2T to the national debt for our grandkids to pay. M'k?

Of course, I've gotten 3 separate census reminders snail-mailed in the last week. Just waiting for the paper forms to arrive. Guess we know they are still working. Looked for a way to request the paper forms, didn't find any.

Has Pelosi taken a virus test yet? She looks closer than 2m to those other people in the photo. Wouldn't want the 3rd person in line for the Presidency to be sick and not get early treatment.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

So additional food assistance to working class people, including those with children, upsets you.

No, but it should be highly scrutinized.

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-food-stamps-welfare-cuts-1450773

So corporate execs pocketing assistance cash doesn't even give you a second thought.

Did I get that right?

That’s pretty much exactly to your point is what’s going on with this problem. You hit the needle on the head.

"Some states are taking advantage of loopholes that allow people to receive the SNAP benefits who would otherwise not qualify and for which they are not entitled," said USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue on a press call this week.

On the call, Brandon Lipps, USDA acting deputy undersecretary, said that the Trump administration did not need congressional approval to limit the eligibility requirements.

"Unfortunately, automatic eligibility has expanded to allow even millionaires and others who simply receive a TANF-funded brochure to become eligible for SNAP when they clearly don't need it," said Lipps.

The rule would work to eliminate something states use to approve families for multiple welfare programs at once called broad-based categorical eligibility (BBCE). The administration, in its explanation of the shift, claimed that this protocol doesn't actually check the incomes or food insecurity of the families who become eligible for SNAP.

That just comes with the territory

That just comes with the territory, not all corporations do it, but it’s more complicated than that, but worrying about it won’t stop it.

In other words, we should just let corporate execs continue to rip off everyone. This is the issue with conservatives, they never want anyone except liberals to be responsible.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

No! Not additional money for SNAP?! We don’t want any stimulus going to the needy! It should all go to the wealthy because they don’t need it!!!

As if Two Trillion Dollar Deficit Donny and his Fans actually care about fiscal responsibility. Let’s keep the intellectual dishonesty for after 11:00, okay?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What we've got here. Is failure to communicate. I was talking about corporate execs skimming off the top for themselves. ALL corporate execs.

That just comes with the territory, not all corporations do it, but it’s more complicated than that, but worrying about it won’t stop it.

Now more than any time I can think of those with the most should be willing to see the needs of the nation's people, which include many of their own employees, are more important than buying another Maybach. Especially if that Maybach is paid for by taxpayers.

Again, you’re talking more about the exception than the rule so if you want to go there then we have to cut a lot more entitlements programs during this scary time to put more money in peoples pockets, particularly those that still need to work regardless to what this virus is doing.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

What I would like to see is how much big corporations get and especially how much the corporate execs skim off the top for themselves.

@bass4ffIn other words, we should just let the energy sector go to crap..

If the D's are to be believed, this seems to be an attempt to look out for workers, the majority of Americans.

“If?” The Problem is, once again the Dems are trying their best to lace this stimulus with more pork. additional funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, as well as emissions restrictions on airlines and pension protections, now what Democrats don’t realize (they never do) if the Republicans give and allow the Dems to write a blank check at this rate we won’t have any money for anything.

What I would like to see is how much big corporations get and especially how much the corporate execs skim off the top for themselves.

In other words, we should just let the energy sector go to crap...interesting, that means less people will get the help they need. But Pelosi doesn’t realize that...or does she? This is their final chance to pork up the stimulus package to push more of their entitlement agenda that has nothing to do with this virus and McConnell should absolutely strip it.

I'd also like to see how much the big corporations will invest in even greater automation now they've seen what happens when humans get sick. If the Trump brand of predatory capitalism prevails after this is over, I foresee times being even tougher for the working and middle classes.

Automation will happen regardless of who is in power, that is just the progression of a changing Modern society.

NEW SCAM: Coronavirus relief check: Someone is calling people claiming to be the IRS or other government asking for bank details to have your check deposited. Obviously hang up on that.

Once again the Republicans (and Trump) are looking out first and foremost for their corporate sponsors, showing their decades long belief that the masses below them just need crusts of bread and a bit of trickle down. The likelihood of the economy coming back to where it was is slim. Time to rethink the economy's base. No more subsidies for big oil, no more wars for oil, no more subsidies for big defense corporations. Public health must become a higher priority.

ballot by mail elections

Republicans don't like this because the GOP can only stay in power through disenfranchisement.

Republicans are already obstructing the next round of assistance to the American people. They have zero ideas of how to help, so obstruct. Smh.
