Many of us saw it coming- - Arab Spring was just a euphemism for the "transition" to a new, dictatorship.

bass4funk. Wow! I really didn't know you dinosaurs still exist. First, the ambassador was killed in Libya, not Eqypt. Second, "the annointed one" is a Christian term , not a Muslim phrase. Third, yes, four dead people under Obama, but how many dead soldiers under Bush? Fourth, I think Obama will need much longer than four years to get the material out of your diapers. Fifth, why do you have to assume that countries, such as Russia and China, are your enemies just because they are not overtly your friends? Sixth, yes, you are right, the current Egyptian government is making an illegal power grab by itself, much as the Bush brothers did in Florida during the election that lead to the first Dubbya debacle.

'Good job, Obama.Not' Yep, we can place the blame for this squarely on Obama. The Republicans of course proved they know how to deal with problems in this part of the world....

If Republican doctrine like these unconstitutional power grabs are imitated by any other countries, this Arab Spring could backfire big time.

@ubikwit Sorry, poor phrasing on my part. The 60% referred to women and non-Muslims. @bass The 4 killed was a tragedy and questions were rightfully asked. My comparison was with the thousands of coalition forces killed in the disgraceful bloodbath in Iraq, not to mention the hundred thousand Iraqis. The catastrophic approach of Bush and the neocon bobble heads in that part of the world can never be repeated - there is no perfect solution but there is a demonstrably tragic one.

Another dictator in the making. Actually ... no surprise ...

Ah, yes, this is the "democracy" that US and other government supported to enthusiastically. Mubarak´s relatively secular dictatorship is now replaced by a Muslim-Brotherhood run Shariah dictatorship.

Good job, Obama. Not.

Obama is doing just fine. It takes time. Romney called Russia as #1 US enemyA? Well, he needs to catch up with world reality.

@Jimizo

90% of the population of is Muslim.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Egypt#Religions

Nothing to do but wait and see what kind of constitution they come up with, and when the next elections are.

The draft has an 'Islamic slant'. Islamists believe their religion is the solution to all human problems, spiritual, political and economic and so no real surprise there. The Koran is still seen by many as preaching the goal of social justice but it seems that still doesn't include equality for women and non-Muslims ( over 60% of Egypt's population ). This is why the religious in western countries should exasperate all of us when they complain about secular values overwhelming those of the religious.

That's called democracy by Western press and Western governments.

coulda bet money on this happening. Oh well

As Yogi Berra said, "It's deja vu all over again." So much for the Arab spring!

Nice suits, nice carpets, nice decorum. Poor democracy.

How will the Egyptian military react to this? And people wonder why the US has so many different branches in government is to avoid situations where one person or group has too much control over a country. The fact that Morsi is able to "grant" himself more power instead of it being brokered by multiple branches is part of the problem.

4 more years like it or leave it

America needs to suspend its $4 billion annual aid package.

America and IMF you meant? Yes, I agree.

Morsi did not make any move until the financial aid deal was completed. He is a new dictator. .

Obama is doing just fine. It takes time.

He already had 4 years, it wasn't enough time for him to become diaper free and now he needs 4 more years? So what happens after that? Will you liberals still make the excuse, "he needs 4 more years and he needs more time?"

The uprising for democracy among Arab nations did not start in 2008. bass, you need to put yourself as a military strategist, and you need to look at a map. Are you sending your guys for civil war? Obama is doing right. .

@phil

Wow! I really didn't know you dinosaurs still exist.

Yep, they sure do. Coelacanth, Birds, Crocs are all living Dinosaurs.

First, the ambassador was killed in Libya, not Egypt.

I said, Benghazi.

Second, "the annointed one" is a Christian term , not a Muslim phrase.

Yes, and? What's your point? He acts like an anointed figure head, so I was spot on, you made my point for me.

Third, yes, four dead people under Obama, but how many dead soldiers under Bush?

Bush is retired. Obama is the current President, CURRENT, so yes, it matters and why, because the families still didn't get a straight and direct answer as to why The WH is in a serious cover up mode.

Fourth, I think Obama will need much longer than four years to get the material out of your diapers.

He didn't do it in 4, the way he's going now, he probably won't make it another 4, so that's 8! Which means, he'll need another 4 (thank heavens that won't happen) plus, the only he will continue to do is blame Bush. Blaming people constantly and not admitting to your own inadequacies doesn't make a person look good. So the diapers will remain, forget advancing to toddler stage.

Fifth, why do you have to assume that countries, such as Russia and China, are your enemies just because they are not overtly your friends?

I am not going to say, we're still in the Cold War phase with Russia, but they are not our friends or staunch allies like Israel, Japan, South Korea. China is a completely different story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBeJUoS-DY4

Sixth, yes, you are right, the current Egyptian government is making an illegal power grab by itself, much as the Bush brothers did in Florida during the election that lead to the first Dubbya debacle.

ROFL. And next you probably want to say that Bush and Israel staged 9/11 Too funny, one thing, I truly love about liberals is that they have a good natural sense of comical humor.

"growing public anger"

First, Egyptians are pissed at Mubarak, now they're pissed at Morsi. Geez.

@jim

Obama, the anointed one was the same US president that said, that once he's president that the Muslim world would like us, he (Obama) knows and understands the Muslims and Islam, since he used to be (so he says...) a Muslim. With all the gifts and love that Obama brought to that region, what happened? Our ambassador was murdered along with 3 other people and they still chant "death to America" and still the WH is stonewalling as to what happened at Benghazi. Yes, Bush is gone and we tried the Sacred Obama appeasent approach and where did that get us? 4 dead people.

@global

Romney called Russia as #1 US enemyA? Well, he needs to catch up with world reality

So you are saying Russia and China are our friends and allies??? I don't think Romney is the one that needs to catch up to the world reality.

@sushi

They are backfiring, don't blame the Republicans for the people's action. They are doing this to themselves and all by themselves without ANY western intervention.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Oh my.... its such an ungreatful, horrible world.... Nobody any longer does as the US tells them what to do.
