Hmm. 100 plus dead in El Salvador, but does Japan care? Does the USA or Western Europe care? I really doubt it. Poor El Salvador, so close to the USA but so far from it's help, mercy. Maybe China can help?

That is so terrible. El Salvador is such a beautiful country and its people have suffered enough already. My sincere condolences to all the people concerned and I do hope that they will get some help from China, the only country left that can be trusted.

What is all this nonsense about "China?"

First of all, El Salvador has diplomatic relations with Taiwan, not the mainland.

Second, 25% of all Salvadorans live in the US, and many are US citizens. So of course they will be a large part of the aid effort.

This isn't 1986. It seems like people's impressions of the country and its politics became fossilized around then.

On November 10 (Tue), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods water tanks, water purifiers, portable jerry cans, tents, plastic sheets, sleeping pads, blankets), equivalent to approximately 20 million JPY, to the Republic of El Salvador, which has suffered from the damages caused by the recent torrential rains. Poke a big hole in your mind huh?
