Sounds like parents from all over the world who have "money" and "connections".

Sounds like this government needs to do less Japan bashing, and more inner soul searching.

This is like what's been going on in the U.S. with celebrities paying for their dumb, snotty kids to enter universities.

That's exactly what is happening. Separation of Judicial and executive power in Korea only exists when its convenient for the administration.

Let’s hope your face is life in prison for his elitism ....

It reminds me of the identical scandal involving the former President Park now in jail. The same fate awaits Moon? Ironically Cho was harshly criticizing Park.

There are those with pride and those without.
With time, I found that those who went to non-private schools are more productive and trustworthy

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Having spent some time in Korea, I found corruption is deeply embedded in that society. No matter how much they preach that they are "clean", all ROK political parties; progressive, conservative, etc., are corrupt - since 1988, only one ROK President has not been jailed or committed suicide for allegations of corruption.
So this is not surprising - and now that one has fallen, no doubt more will be exposed.
Of course this will just make current Japan-ROK tensions even worse as the ROK government tries to divert attention by further stoking anti-Japan sentiment...

@Stormcrow
This is completely unfair. In the guy's defense, he also helped foreign nationals.

YES. That's how you read this news!. So much for Korean separation of powers
Moon is basically trying to become a dictator to prepare entire SK to be united by master Kim.

Fair enough. I certainly didn't mean to come across as meaning this was strictly an American problem. No, it doesn't matter where the kids of these celebrities or wealthy people are from. What does matter is that they think their kids can skip the barriers which have prevented many better and more qualified students from getting over. The whole idea of what these people do cheapens and degrades a university degree. Most of us here have studied hard to achieve what we've achieved, so it's very unfair when cheats (whoever's kids they are) like these get a Golden Ticket, or a free pass.

Cho's biggest scandal seems the end of Moon regime.

Tbe good thing is the SK is very unforgiven of scandals and already taking to the streets. Cho's nomination as justice minister is not going to happen and if logic is defied and it does happen the it will be political suicide by Moon and probably the begining of the end of his presidency.

Simple. Japan isn't a true democracy. Nails that stand out are hammered right back down.
