Yeah. Like when he made the decision to pull U.S. troops away from the Syria-Turkey border, effectively endorsing a Turkish assault on the U.S.-allied Kurds.

Oh, no. I got it mixed up. That was Trump who made that disastrous decision.

He won't get anywhere with the removal of the veto. It is a primary asset of China, Russia and the US, who use it to protect misbehaving allies. If you have friends on the security council, you can get away with pretty much anything.

Erdogan is a more natural ally of Russia than NATO, but there would be an economic hit to Turkey's already beleaguered economy, and I doubt he trusts Putin any more than anyone else does.

Congress voted two years ago to kick Turkey out of the F-35 program because Turkey bought Russian made S-400 air defense missiles. The US Congress has for the last several years refused to permit any arms sales of any kind to Turkey over concerns about their treatment of the Kurds, their closeness to Daesh and the aforementioned purchase of S-400. In your view should the US abandon that policy and do you really think the US Congress would go along? Remember Mr. Trump was against removing Turkey from the F-35 program but Congress forced his hand by passing the legislation by a veto proof majority.

The crux of the problem is that Turkey wants Patriot but the Turks want industrial participation with an eye on eventually building Patriots in Turkey and knowing the technology behind it. Raytheon never shares their tech data. Ever. Not even with the US military. When you buy something from Raytheon they retain control of the tech data rights to the point where all maintenance and sparing comes exclusively from Raytheon. Turkey would not abide that so they bought the S-400s thinking that would force the US to share Patriot production. Unfortunately Raytheon refuses to go along and legally there is nothing the US government can do to force them. Raytheon won't share their tech with the US military and the Turks expect Raytheon to hand it over to them in a co-production agreement. Not happening.
