I'm going to surprise a few folks here by agreeing with Esper...
I spent 27 years in the military and commanded organizations twice. The chain of command is there for a reason and it must be followed. The appropriate thing for the Captain to do was express his concern and request guidance from his immediate superior, which since it is OPCON in the Pacific AOR, would have been the 7th Fleet Commander. if he didn't like that guidance or felt his concerns were not being addressed, he should have contacted USINDOPACOM in Hawaii. The USINDOPACOM Commander controls every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine in the entire Pacific area - DoD and the Pentagon don't do anything in the Pacific without deferring to him first.
But sending his letter to the entire chain at once, and releasing it to the media, the Captain cut out all his intermediate bosses - basically threw them under the bus, giving them no opportunity to work the problem. You don't do that in the military.
It's clearly understandable to me why he was relieved.
Sorry, the last thing you want to be as a commander is a martyr.
And Trump is correct - what do you think of that Trump supporters? Could you break out of your bubble and offer support to Biden, Nancy, Chuck, or Schiff? If not, then you need to do some reflection...

Why does the alleged news media keep claiming that the Captain was "fired"? This wasn't some cruise ship. He wasn't an employee of Disney Co, or Carnival Cruise Line. The Captain was relieved of his command and will be reassigned to another posting. Do any of these media-types even bother to do the very basic vetting before they spout off?
The Captain lost command of the USS Theodore Roosevelt because it appears that he panicked, and broadcast his ship's predicament outside of official Navy channels. It doesn't look good when someone in charge of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier appears to panic.

We prefer not to have another 8 years of fear, migraines and higher taxes.

Capt. Crozier requested help. Should he have let his crew get further sick, let his carrier become a 'disease ship'? He did nothing wrong. As for 'holding leaders accountable', when are we going to hold the so-called 'Commander-n-Chief' ACCOUNTABLE for his actions?

This Captain, as well as every other Captain, or officer, in military service knows full well how to communicate thru the usual chain of command. Requesting support is not a new issue, so yes, this U.S. Navy Captain did "something wrong", and lost his command.
