 widespread anger in the bloc

Both the EU and NATO are cracking.

The public wants and end to the war, the weapons lobby does not.

That's a massive pro peace movement bubbling in every country and the pro war candidates are going to get booted out of office in all upcoming elections.

That's not what happened with the European Parliament, the UK Parliament, or the French National Assembly. When does the winning start for the Putinist?

Borrell is an irrelevant disgrace who is consigning himself to the sidelines and wouldn't have a clue of high diplomacy with the relentless mini-me policies adopted that submit the Biden administration.

Apparently EU "democracy" is a system of my way or the highway.

Is the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy position an elected official? I did some brief research but it wasn't clear whether Borrell is elected to the EU Parliament or not.

He isn't. Most of the Eurocrat bureaucracy is based a quasi-committee system.

Important to keep in mind Borrell is infamous for comparing Europe to a "garden" and other parts of the world to a "jungle".

Compared to a vary large slice of the world Europe is indeed a relative garden. There are not that many other parts of the world with the standard of living found in Europe. North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. The rest not so much and yes I have been to China and Singapore. The look pretty but when you scratch the surface it is not so nice underneath, especially China and both Singapore and China have authoritarian single party police states. So yeah, looking outside the borders of the EU the rest of what surrounds them isn't very pretty. Europe has achieved much and has a right to be proud of their lifestyle and relative wealth. They earned it!

Keep in mind that had Victor Orban and his government been in power when Hungary was trying to join the EU they would have never made it. The policies of the Orban government are 180 degrees opposite those of the rest of the EU and undercuts the values of the EU. The rest of the EU has not just a right but a duty to shun him and the filth he represents. Hungary should be suspended from NATO too as they undercut NATO at every opportunity.

It would however be highly entertaining to see how a patronizing old bigot like Victor Orban would deal with a mixed race Asian/African female US President (with a law degree and a career prosecutor).

Hungary only survives because of the EU/NATO.

"Loser was on a surrender mission. "

Blessed be the peacemakers. Keep on working for peace Victor.

Peacemakers don't demand countries be enslaved and their people subjected to brute authoritarianism that will make Ukraine's treatment of the Donbas look like a walk in the park.

Viktor Orban does not have the power or authority to negotiate a peace deal.

The usual pro war crowd propaganda. Ukraine needs peace now, not after most of its men had become casualties and the country has been sold off to BlackRock & friends. Yeah, we know some neocon fans think it is a great deal for the US.

Ukraine doesn't need surrender now as war criming Russia never returns what it steals.

Orban - the man who signed Hungary up to Communist China's Belt and Road Scam - a dodgy deal that Hungary will be paying for long, long after he has gone. The man cannot be trusted.

There is absolutely no logical reason for the EU to be against Russia. Clearly the EU are now US stooges. I hope all the pro EU folks have their fallout shelters stocked.

Typical warmongering pro-fascist Russia rhetoric.

The old colonial powers keep acting like it's the 20th century despite it being the 21st.

And so far, it's not really working out for them. All they're doing is throwing ever more money into losing efforts, screaming ever louder at the majority of the world that they should fall in line when ordered to, and then wonder why they keep not winning.

Why would they need to worry about it, when a MAD will take out everyone, including Russia?

The only thing that has changed is China is now approaching middle income.

And so far, it's not really working out for them. All they're doing is throwing ever more money into losing efforts, screaming ever louder at the majority of the world that they should fall in line when ordered to, and then wonder why they keep not winning.

Russia is winning permanent servitude with China. The US "lost" bases in Afghanistan and Niger. Big deal, we have hundreds more of much larger size and importance.

LOL. Now it's obvious. thanks
