Trump isn't even sure who is in the current admin. The dementia is setting in hard.

Putin has already seized foreign assets in Russia.
The invasion of Ukraine is illegal under the UN Charter.
wallace
Give the $300 billion frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Well we know Trump will full on cancel Russian sanctions so the choice between those two is obvious.
Most Indians are not as hostile to the US as you are. The US is actually more popular than Russia there:

Be honest: it's about the rupees.

@taiwanisnotchina
don’t be selective

There is no greater weakness than pandering to a dictator like Trump did with Putin.
TaiwanIsNotChina
A patriot would realize that there are different degrees of outcome and Ukraine can yet maintain its independence.
Nothing is weaker than grabbing your ankles and saying no more aid.
Strangerland
He is.
Polls? Ok Hillary.
Strangerland
If they’re ineffectual then adding more is no problem, right
starpunk
Of course he would say that! Good dog, Donnie. Since he is a traitor and an undiplomatic and unsociable puppet of Putin in the first place; since he is a mouthpiece for Russia and a sputnik - he has no right whatsoever to say anything at all on these matters.
He has shown that he is Putin's lackey. He needs to just shut the hell up for once in his worthless life.
Strangerland
Then there is no problem with adding more sanctions. On that note: more sanctions!
TaiwanIsNotChina
Guess it is good, then, that Russia's international law violations are a mile long. Assets can be seized and Russia can't do anything about it as the weaker party.
Strangerland
If they even let him stay in Mar a Lardo after he files for personal bankruptcy.
Strangerland
The average Russian salary is below the poverty line. Produce or die, literally.
PTownsend
How could the Previous Guy do that if he's unable to leave Mar a Lardo because of the ankle monitor. If X-45 returns to office his only priority will be trying new scams ro pay off his mounting debts, what a scary thought that is, having him back in office once again for sale to the highest bidder. And if he chooses Tulsi to be his VP she would do nothing to upset Modi, her favorite authoritarian after Putin, of course.
TaiwanIsNotChina
The only reason the sanctions haven't been effective is because they've barely been tried. Start sanctioning Indian oil refinery products, for example.
PTownsend
Waiting for the spin on the above; for the firehose of falsehoods, coming from the employees of authoritarian state's PR firms and their fellow global idiots to spin this as a positive, similar to how they've glorified Putin's other war atrocities.
PTownsend
What's Kleptocrat Putin's personal cut of his country's sales of fossil fuels? Given the Ukraine invasion was his choice, he should be made to pay out of his pocket, from the billions he's reputed to have taken, for the rebuilding of Ukraine, and should also have his war partners Iran and North Korea chip in, Maybe China, too, after all the CCP have profited from ongoing trade with the Russian Federation, tacit consent for the invasion.
DDK
What I find amusing is that while most condemn China's support for Russia during this unjustified invasion of a sovereign country, most people tend to forget how backstabbing India's foreign policy is. Not surprising, but this is why nobody is taking the world's biggest democracy seriously. At least China is open about its transactions/objectives.
Redemption
How have these sanctions been working? Seems the only effective response so far has been giving Ukraine ample weapons to defend themselves.
Chabbawanga
Does this only apply to Russian political prisoners?
TaiwanIsNotChina
You're flailing. NATO never walked off with another country's territory except when Russia approved KFOR.
deanzaZZR
Remember when the initial sanctions were guaranteed to bring the Russian economy to its knees in months? Politicians never learn partially because they don't listen to economists.
Yrral
Since Russian never lived in freedom,to even talk about it make you an hero, and they have not experienced it in 100 of years, the longest history of living under oppression of
Blacklabel
it is if this is part of your “solution”.
and If it’s not your solution, why ya doing it?

We had no wars under Trump, we have wars all over the place with Biden, between Ukraine and Russia, between the Iranians and Houtis, and then signs of its slowing down, as Biden said, as president the bops with you, and you have to take responsibility, and so-called president once implement more useless sanctions.
Not a lot.
I agree, as long as it’s weapons, nothing else, by all means
EvilBuddha
Start sanctioning Indian oil refinery products, for example.
Mukesh Ambani, the richest Asian and the owner of the Indian oil refineries where the cheap Russian crude is processed and then re-exported to the US and EU, was invited to the White House for the state dinner that the Biden administration gave to Modi last year.
Vote out Biden if you want that to happen.
Blacklabel
Yep so more sanctions cause those have been so totally impactful, right?
biden is on his way out. No ideas, no solutions. A week consists of giving away our money, hiding from media questions and trying not to fall down until it’s the weekend again.
HopeSpringsEternal
One must remember these sanctions are not without cost. As, goods, services, supply chain components, resources, assets, etc., all moving because of their economic value to all parties. All end up losing, only it seems Russia's losing less given their sanction skillsets.
Many winning due to above market dislocations. Russians making sure those that win are their future partners. Putin's playing long game, not Biden's checkers!
bass4funk
If the people in the US thought so, Biden would be leading now
Well, and according to all the latest polls they are thinking just that.

Mr Kipling
More failed sanctions to add to the existing failed sanctions.
The UK, Germany and others are exporting to Georgia and Kazakhstan knowing full well the goods end up in Russia. Europe is buying Russian oil via India in the safe knowledge that this is not even covered by the sanctions.
Ukraine has no road to victory.
HopeSpringsEternal
Sounds like a good idea, but Russian UN lawyers have made sound arguments they are legally permitted to assist those seeking their LEGAL independence for CAUSE (Human, property and citizenship rights violations), starting in 2014/Ukraine Civil War.
Russian UN legal paper trail is long. Same UN legal justification US in their military actions in Yugoslavia.
If assets taken from Russia illegally, without due process, Russia can simply expropriate foreign assets in Russia.

If the sanctions would really put a dent in this guy I would understand, but with the backing of China, more U.S. money will be wasted. If this administration really wants to hurt, Russia, then they should go after the most powerful and richest oligarchs in that country sanctioned them as hard as he can on any and every little thing, then you might be getting somewhere other than that, it’s just not going to do anything.
Bingo!
I agree. It is only a matter of time.
EvilBuddha
most people tend to forget how backstabbing India's foreign policy is
There is no backstabbing because India is not an ally of the West. Just that in recent times the West has started wooing India to its side.
Backstabbing is when the Britain wins World War 2, but forgets the contributions of the Indian soldiers who fought and died and instead decides that its Pakistan which will be their ally (vassal) in South Asia. Backstabbing is when the US and UK send their aircraft carriers to the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea in support of Pakistan which is committing genocide in East Pakistan.
What India is doing is standing up for its old friend Russia against these backstabbers.
HopeSpringsEternal
Sanctions acting to deepen Russia's economic ties globally. Too much money being made. Imagine, Russia's economy growing 3% without MASSIVE Deficit spending, unlike US, Europe & Japan (approx. 6-7% of GDP)
Keep in mind, if India, China, etc. did not buy discounted oil from Russia, WTI would be well north of $100 barrel.
Russia understands developed world swimming in debt, their debt servicing will make real economic growth impossible, thus their BRICS PIVOT.
For example, Japan debt servicing now over 5% of GDP with Low Rates and increasing as debt accumulates. Many developed countries today worse than Japan.
bass4funk
This administration is not going to stop him when you come from position of weakness, right from the get-go, you essentially lost the battle, so Putin already has in his head that Biden is weak and as he said, very predictable. So where this will all go in the coming months is anyone’s guess.
HopeSpringsEternal
Seizure difficult term to define. Many foreign companies remain, many are selling their assets to 3rd parties and exiting. I've not heard any pure Russian seizure without legal justification. Is a forced sale a seizure? Depends.
Matter of assisting Russian speaking former Ukrainians in their legal efforts to become independent has not been litigated. If it had, $300billion of Russian assets would not be held up.
Western media's usage of invasion has no legal basis, much as Russian media's usage of legal assistance of people seeking their independence has no legal basis.
EvilBuddha
Most Indians are not as hostile to the US as you are.
Yeah, those who want to migrate to the US (legally or illegally) are of course not hostile to the US.
Hopefully Trump will put a stop to that.
bass4funk
Won’t work, waste of time.
Well, he’s pretty much on point.
The polls say different.
Mueller debunked that.
He absolutely has every right to say whatever he wants under the first amendment.
Well, you or I can’t make him, just like I can’t make Joe shut up or anyone in this… admin. That’s the greatest thing about the U.S. our first amendment rights.
bass4funk
He keeps saying Biden constantly on every talkshow, so I guess he’s fine.
